Location is great, it’s right in the center of the town, close to the bus stop in case you travel by public transportation; very close to amazing bars, cafes and restaurants. The room was pretty comfortable, had bathroom, towels, AC. Staff is friendly and helpful. There is a kitchen with coffee machine, all necessary kitchen utensils, stove and microwave, cereals and tea bags, etc etc.
I would like to have more space to hang the clothes: in the room where I stayed there was almost no hangers. This hostel has a patio where you can chill or smoke which is great, but as soon as the sun goes down the floor is full of cockroaches:( (I was there in mid September)

This has to be the best hostel I've stayed at in memory! Location: It is right in the centre of town, walking distance to everything you need and 5 min from the waterside. Yet, the noise from the steet didn't cause bother. Cleanliness: Spotless. The cleaners do an amazing job of thoroughly cleaning everything. The bedding and linen are fresh and white. Rooms: Have comfortable beds, aircon, lockers, personal powerpoints, and a decent amount of space. There also aren't too many rooms so it never feels crowded and there is plenty of space to socialise or be alone as you prefer. Amenities: Fully equipped kitchen, shared lounge with TV, wifi, court yard Staff: This was a highlight. The staff, particularly Ana at front desk and the young cleaners were so helpful and genuinely warm. They go out of their way to help you and their travel tips for the island really set us up to have a good time. 10/10 recommend.

So, I'm normally not a fan of shared accommodation as I like to have my privacy. However, reading the reviews here I gave this one a chance and boy, I'm sure glad I did! The interior is modern and welcoming and everything is kept super clean. There are two private bathrooms which are shared, but only one person can use them at a time, which is great! There's a big fully equipped kitchen at your disposal and when I say fully, I mean FULLY. It has a dishwasher, an oven, all the utensils you might need and also many shared food items like spices, sauces, condiments etc. After you've eaten, you can have a smoke on the cozy little terrace. The bedrooms have three bunk beds. The beds themselves are comfortable. Maybe I was lucky with roommates, but there was a kind of unwritten rule that the bedroom is a "quiet" zone - as in if you wanted to have a phone call, watch loud videos etc while someone was sleeping, you went to the living room instead. Most people respected this, although not 100% of the time, but that comes with staying in a shared place I guess. The location of the hostel is central, just a few steps from the seaside. Many restaurants and bars nearby. I recommend visiting the military museum, which is very close to the hostel as well! Last but definitely not least, Ana was an amazing hostess. She speaks English very well, she's very pleasant and quick to respond if you're in trouble. I prefer going along my own axis, but others have said that she's capable of arranging/giving advice for almost anything for you on the island. I ended up staying longer than expected, only leaving for a private accommodation when I needed peace and quiet for my work. That being said, many people actually worked from this hostel without an issue! This was just a personal preference of mine. Again, thank you for the hospitality. I will definitely come back if I'm in the Azores again!
Not so much a complaint as a suggestion - I ended up taking the bed cover and draping it over the bottom bed as a sort of a makeshift curtain. It was not only good for me, but also for others who wanted to sleep while I had my nightlight on as it dimmed the light (which was pretty strong for a small lamp). Maybe introducing curtains for the bottom beds wouldn't be a bad idea? 🙂

we booked the private double room which was large and comfortable with its own bathroom and shower. Really clean living room and kitchen with amenities such as a coffee machine which was great. free cold filtered water. really friendly and helpful staff. we loved it and would have loved to stay longer!
The only thing one should be aware of is that the hostel is on a street with cafés and restaurants and therefore there is some background noise in the evening. One more thing we would have loved in our private room is some showergel.

My stay at Pé Direito was nothing short of amazing. The hostess was an absolute legend. She didn't just make me feel welcome; she made me feel like I was at home. Her hospitality was top-notch, and she was super helpful with local tips and ensuring my stay was comfortable. It's not every day you come across someone so awesome while traveling. I 100% recommend Pé Direito to any fellow travelers out there. It's not just a place to crash; it's an experience. The hostess adds a unique touch that's hard to find elsewhere. I'm definitely coming back to this spot the next time in Ponta Delgada; it's become a must-visit in my book.

This is the most comfortable hostel I’ve ever stayed in plus Ana is the friendliest and most helpful ‘host’ you could wish for. The hostel is beautiful in style, super clean, AMAZINGLY located and so well equipped. Water pressure is ace, air con was good, kitchen had everything - dishwasher, coffee machine and recycling were really good to have. Massive locked drawers under your bed which fit all my stuff (of which I had a lot). Individual lights, plugs and usb charger per each bed. I would absolutely stay here again, it would be like coming home ❤️
The only suggestion I would have is to put hooks on the bathroom doors for towels and maybe some more hanging space/coat hangers

Pe Direito is perhaps the best hostel I have ever stayed. Ana, who works at the front desk, is very helpful and gives costumers great recommendations of things to do and places to visit. Ana also makes sure everything runs extremely well and smoothly. The hostel is super clean, great light, amazing kitchen, the most comfortables beds, super nice room with an awesome bathroom and the location couldn't be better. I wanted to stay more days but is was fully booked.
Keep in mind that if your flight arrives early in the morning, like mine did, there is nobody at the hostel until 10:00 am. I had to wait two and a half hours outside as it was Sunday and everything was closed. Plan ahead!

The room was extremely spacious, tidy, modern and clean with lots of natural light. The bathroom was also clean and tidy. The communal kitchen was very well equipped and was cleaned daily. There was also a drying rack for clothes and a small hidden patio. The location was excellent, right in the heart of the city with lots of good restaurants, cafes and bars. Free parking spaces around 7 minutes away by foot. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating, from the hostel owner and the receptionist to the cleaning staff.
It got quite loud at night because of the lively streets and the windows weren’t entirely soundproof, so light sleepers should definitely pack some ear plugs.

The owner was excellent, always smiling and checking in with everyone making sure they were enjoying themselves. She also volunteered a lot of tips and suggestions if you're looking for things to do. There's a large coffee table with brochures for everything in the common area from car rentals to tours to restaurants if you're like me and are a bit more of a go with the flow traveler. It is possible you get there and no one is at the desk to let you in, but just ring the bell and either another person staying will let you in or staff will hear the phone ringing and get to you in between laundry, preparing beds, cleaning, and other responsibilities they have to attend to. Usually there are 1-2 people on hand. Later at night, there might not be anyone around, but I believe they ensure someone is there when they are expecting a new arrival. When I arrived, it was about 9:30 at night and the owner had just stepped out. Other people let me in and I just hung out for about 5-10 minutes until she came back. And that was just because I didn't have a phone to call them. There are numbers posted you can call via WhatsApp or local number. There is a TV in the common area if you want to watch Netflix or something. It wasn't used much while I was there, but it's available if you want/need it. The beds were comfortable. Rooms have AC with a remote to control the temp. Common areas didn't seem to have AC, but it was never hot inside. There's a patio for smoking or lounging. No view for that area, but it's still a pleasant place to sit and chat. Lots of utensils and cookware in the kitchen area. Multiple coffee and tea options as well as a water dispenser with which you're able to fill your water bottle or a cup for fresh water. Kettle for hot water. There are labels and pens for labeling your food and drinks if you want them to be kept safe in the fridge. Bathrooms were very clean--cleaned every day.
One somewhat notable complaint: the lockable drawers don't all lock properly and aren't big enough to fit bags in. Good enough to store stuff in, but if you're traveling more on-the-go and like to keep everything in your bags, they won't fit. I was personally OK with this because everyone was lovely there, but I know that can worry a lot of people. An extremely minor complaint: no hand towels in the bathroom if you're just using the bathroom and need to dry your hands. It's fine and it'd take a real posh traveler to be upset about this. It was just something I noticed that could probably be easily mitigated.

Very good communication with Anna. Superb location, we had the apartment on top of the super smart hostel, it overlooked the main church in the square. Really clean, spacious apartment with everything we needed for a 2 night stay. Anna, was very helpful and made very good suggestions for dinners and places to go.
Only 2 things I can think of, 1, was our bed was very comfortable but creaked very loudly with any movement. 2,, being at the top, there are quite a lot of stairs to climb, we didn't mind but some people may find this difficult. I've mentioned these 2points but they certainly were no problem for us. We loved our stay here.
