We only ate breakfast twice during our 6 night stay. It was the only negative aspect to what is a truly beautiful and fantastic hotel. Our room had a lovely view over the city. It was cleaned at least twice daily, with little treats every few days. Towels were changed twice daily, a bottle of water every day, and a turndown service. The staff were very helpful with special requests or giving directions. We got this hotel at a very good rate by paying upfront. I would strongly recommend it to anyone considering visiting Porto.

Breakfast was expensive by Porto standards. There wasn't a huge selection, especially of hot food. A second elevator would be great.

Royalty has stayed at this hotel in the past, and when you walk in the door and look around, you know why. The place has class. Decor is amazing, and staff are exceptionally friendly, cheerful, and helpful. Our room was large and comfortable, the bed was brilliant, housekeeping is possibly the best we have ever experienced. Cleanliness is an on-going process, water supply is endless, and the chocolates on the bed at night are quite delicious.

The shower had a design flaw such that we couldn't shower without leaving a puddle on the bathroom floor. However, housekeeping always cleaned up the mess during an evening visit when we were out, and left everything clean, dry, and spotless.

This Hotel was refurbished recently. Facilities are outstanding, Staff is very professional and very helpful. Our room was spotless. Breakfast good variety and very well supplied

Last night was a Saturday I was on 1st floor. They offered me to change the room to a quieter room. We declined considering was our last night . Because of the location people in Porto like to party on the streets and tend to be noisy outside. The Hotel can not do anything about this. Except for this issue the Hotel was probably the best stay we had in Portugal during my total visit. I will recommend this Hotel without any hesitation.

Very lovely grand decor. Hotel was the first 5* hotel in Porto (has also been refurbished). Established in 1951. Staff really friendly and helpful. Glass of port on arrival. Concierge gave lots of recommendations for restaurants. Breakfasts really good.

We had first night dinner in restaurant. The food is good but the service painfully slow. We got our olives and bread at same time as the starters. We chose a red wine which we were told was not available but nor was the next choice or the next choice! Each time the waiter disappeared for ages and so we had to choose a more expensive one which finally came before the 2nd course. There were plenty of staff so we don't know why. I did tell the hotel as it was the only thing we didn't like. There are loads of great restaurants nearby so we wish we had eaten out.

The hotel surprises you as soon as you cross the revolving doors at the entrance. By looking at the façade, you cannot anticipate what is in store for you. It has a grandiosity in style and decor but without looking exaggerated. The suite we stayed in was recently renovated, and it was enormous! A pleasing welcome surprise awaited us in the room for our Wedding anniversary. The breakfast was varied and served in another luxurious space. Finally, the location was the best since we were in downtown Porto, only a short walk from what you want to see.

The lack of a parking lot. Although there was one very close to the hotel, it was expensive.

Probably one of the best hotels I have stayed in recently... The Location is just perfect close to all attractions or within a very short walk. The front desk especially Riu & the whole staff were truly a delight .Very helpful informative and warm and welcoming at all times . My accommodation didn't include breakfast but plenty of places around I tried flow a resturant which was suggested by front desk Riu .And it was perfect . The Bar was lovely with great Vibe . If I was looking for a place in porto I would def stop looking anywhere else and book this place as long it's available . Another thing to remember the hotel is 10 Min walking from the train station that brings you from the airport .so I wouldn't waste my money on taxi. It was fast and easy to get from and to the airport .

Well appointed spacious room. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were good quality. Nice spacious bathroom. Convenient to many historic locations and an active restaurant area. The facility is quite beautiful and has been nicely restored/maintained. Breakfast was excellent. Many choices and great variety. Staff were very helpful, pleasant and spoke excellent English.

The temperature in the room was quite warm due to the warmer weather and the fact they had not transitioned to the air conditioning. We weren't able to control the temperature.

The hotel is full of old-world charm, with a beautiful carriage elevator and carved woodwork. The in-house restaurant and bar are more contemporary with beautifully tiled floors and an internal outdoor patio. The food was excellent and the buffet breakfast is amazing. We had a lovely suite on the fifth floor, which was very spacious and with a warm, traditional decor. The bath products deserve a special shout-out. There is a small plunge pool which was refreshing after a day of touring around the city. The location was excellent within an easy walk to restaurants and sights. What made our stay though was the staff who are most welcoming, especially Beatriz at the front desk. This is an elegant hotel suitable for those who are looking for a calm sanctuary in a bustling city.

The hotel is very beautiful and well maintained. The bar has great cocktails and the breakfast buffet is worth getting up to. The Claus Porto toiletries in the bathroom make for a real treat! The location makes it really easy to reach from the train and metro stations nearby and there are plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants nearby for a meal.

Despite having vaccination certificates from the UK which were accepted in Portugal according to the tourism and government websites, and having had these accepted in previous accommodation during our trip, the hotel did not accept our certificates. Despite showing the government websites with the information to the receptionist, we were still made to pay for a covid-19 test to be taken in premises as those were the instructions they had. Considering that this was clearly to the hotel discretion and not a legal requirement, it would have been nice if this information was clearly published on the website/emails and included in the room fee.

Beyond my expectations. Greeted by doormen dressed in yellow with top hats who were friendly and spoke an excellent English. Those at the desk were helpful. Loved my room. Loved the restored and beautiful stained glass and architecture of the building. Everything new and fresh in the rooms. Housekeeping service twice a day and chocolates left on the pillow at night. Breakfast plentiful and very good.
