November 2022
The hotel is located just outside of Sintra, but within easy walking distance (mind the hills) of the centre of town with some shopping, access to public transit, and restaurants. I am not sure if the hotel has rooms in the main building as we stayed in a cottage-like room located in a lower part of the property. Given the time of year, not everything was open (pool, hot-tube, etc.), but the location had a park-like atmosphere. Our room was quite small, but had everything we required (ensuite, small kitchenette, bed, wifi). Parking was access through an automatic gate with the access code provided upon check in. Breakfast was great with hot / cold choices, but as it was served in the main building you had to walk up a flight of stairs to get there (not the greatest if the weather was rainy or you have mobility issues). Still a very good stay.
The hotel has a very, very small entrance through a small gate. If possible, park outside the gate and check in. Once you've checked in, a pass code is provided to the main parking area (located in a lower part of the property, accessed via a small road just beyond the hotel).

This is a wonderfully quirky hotel/bed and breakfast. The building is a large and impressive old house, built right on the edge of a rocky slope, with impressive gates and front door. You can park briefly in front to unload, but must park lower down the hill in the rather informal parking area reached through iron gates for which a code is needed. The lane to the hotel and on to the car park is narrow between stone walls, one way and steeply down hill with tight corners. We could not turn the car outside the hotel and had to reverse out, nor could we turn in to the car park and had to reverse in and turn inside. To bring the car back to the front door is a significant journey all the way down, round and up to the top, then down again. The interior is nicely and intriguingly decorated with original features, such as the original and ill-fitting shutters in our room, the balcony outside our room (which flooded in the rain, but did not flood the room), the parrots in a cage outside the conservatory used for breakfast and the birds painted on our bedroom ceiling. Breakfast is taken in half-hour shifts and is perfectly adequate, but you may have to wait for the next batch of scrambled egg, then compete for it before it runs out again. Occasionally the lady who organises breakfast will also provide an evening meal, which needs to be ordered and selected in advance and is served by her husband in the conservatory, and paid for in cash directly to her. There is no restaurant in the conventional sense. The managers could not have been more friendly and helpful, speaking good English. The staff also friendly and helpful, but needing to use the translation app on the phone to find out what we wanted. The historical centre is about 7 or 8 minutes downhill on foot (as is the train station in a different direction). We decided to return the hire car and rely on walking locally, tuc tucs and the train for Lisbon.
We liked it overall, but donât expect it to come up to the photographs online. It is a little shabby, seems a bit disorganised, rather informal and a little amateur, but charming for all that.

Our host at reception was very friendly and helpful, came to our room to fix our remote and then went out of his way to find us another one when he couldn't fix it. We stayed in a villa that was huge. It had a roomy bedroom and a large sitting room/kitchen. It was a one minute walk to the main building and a really good breakfast each morning. Location was excellent. We were a 6 minute walk to to wonderful restaurants in one direction and a 7 minute walk to the old town, had had the peace and quiet of a very large garden. Plenty of parking.
Grounds were a little run down, probably because of the time of the year (early April)

The place is very nice, both the inside and the gaden. The place is clean and has good atmosphere. The room is very equiped. Romulo was very helpful. The breakfast was fine.
It seems they need to pay attention to the small stuff that makes the difference: Althaugh we asked to change the towels twice, they did not replace them and we had to go to the main building and do it ourselves. The hot tub wad very cold and even after they turned the hit it did not warm up. They asked for deposit for the towels. At checkout there was nobody at the reception and we had to leave the keys at the box. It would be very helpful if the box was at the car gate.

The location of this nothing short than amazing guesthouse, left me in awe! I have never in all my years of travel been so welcomed and accommodated by Romulo the manager. I rescued a cat on Azores and was carrying him around Sintra. I had several days before departing back to the USA. He did everything in his power to make things easier on us. He even gave Azores a cat brush from his cat âSushiâ. I will never forget his sincerity and helpfulness. The breakfast was absolutely incredible and the building had so much character. I hope to come back to Sintra again one day and revisit. Obrigado!!đđđ

We liked the house style ,the location, the view is amazing ! The people working there were really nice đ ! Loved the furniture in the breakfast rooms and reception! Overall, the place is amazing. We didn't have time to use the swimming pool or the jacuzzi, but it was definitely something to do if we had the time
Unfortunately, the room floor needed to be moped more often. The bathroom towels could be bigger, the shower let loads of water out ,maybe longer shower door . I expected coffee facilities in the room since breakfast has allocated times, and I do have the impression that it was described as available when we booked

This place is an old villa with garden, jacuzzi and swimming pool. It is well maintained, stylish and with a lot of character. Rooms are in the main villa, but also in the dependance. Our room on the first floor was large and equipped with everything. Staff at the reception was a bit distant at the beginning, but friendly afterwards. Breakfast happens in set slots which must be confirmed to the reception during the check-in. This is to avoid an overcrowded breakfast room and ensure a pleasant experience to the guests. Parking is available at location, reachable from a different entrance. The swimming pool area looks like a post card. Cozy and very nice. We could not use it due to foggy and rainy weather, but we would have used it if we had had a sunny day. Definitely a very nice stay.
There is no elevator. So in case of heavy luggage, you have to carry it walking up the stairs

This place, like from a dream. The pink main manor house is stunning, and the smaller buildings add to the charm. The garden was stunning, and when you add the pool, the jacuzzi and the pond.. Perfect photo opp location. The main building's common areas are stunningly decorated and the breakfast room was the cutest we had on this trip. Plenty of food options with a few home-made cakes added to the mix. And once again, they had gluten-free bread option for my friend, which is always great to see. The reception had great tips to give with regards to what to see in the area, how to move about etc.
Getting into the car park was a bit confusing, and due to one way roads in the historic town, we had to drive around for additional 15min to get back when we missed the correct turn. Would be great to have instructions sent by email beforehand to avoid this. The jacuzzi water was not the cleanest on the first time I entered, but that's a minor issue.

room, breakfast, location, coziness
Without directions ahead of time on how to find parking, especially arriving in the dark, I ended up traveling down a scary narrow path to the front desk area where two cars were parked. With no room to turn around, I had to back out through a narrow gate and do a lot of maneuvering to wind around the property to get to the gate to find parking. Knowing this ahead of time would have been very beneficial.

The welcome from the gentleman on reception. He was extremely helpful and friendly. The house itself was beautiful as were the gardens. The property was easy to find and we were directed to a parking area near our apartment, so, unloading our luggage was easy. The buffet breakfast which was included in the price was also good. All of the staff were very friendly.
We had an apartment as we had a dog. The beds were comfortable , but, the apartment could do with a little updating. They weren't particularly pretty from the outside which is a shame as the surrounding gardens were beautiful. Also, the air conditioning units didn't work and it was very hot when we arrived. Fans were supplied, though, and the temperature dropped at night, so, it wasn't too much of a problem.
