The train station is some 3 min away. Enjoyed the old building the hotel is located in: it is cosy, old style and very natural. Was great to be inside regardless of the weather. The social kitchen is a benefit to prepare your own food, though I didn't use it much. You can eat outside, too, relaxing in a lushy garden.
Only one AC socket. Too dark in the bathrooms. The bed by the window in "Penedo dos Ovos" was a bit wobbling, probably overused by the "activities" of earlier guests, I recommend to check it out. The breakfast was too generic (the basic omelette would improve it). The staff does not speak English, which made the check-out too long. Besides, the lady responsible for it prioritised the breakfast of other guests ignoring that I was in a hurry. I also don't understand why I should have filled in a lot of confidential information on check-out, e.g. nationality, ID card and who had issued it.

We got a corner room so it was super nice and cool/breezy in our room. The place was very clean and our room was comfortable. Yes the bathrooms are old but people complain too much, they are pretty typical for a lot of old houses in Europe and they are clean. Breakfast was decent. Owners accommodated me when I asked for a fan. It was a good stay.
Nothing. The unfriendly dog in the back was definitely weird, they should at least get him a proper dog house.

Good location in the town of Sintra. handy to get to the sites…
there didn’t seem to be any staff working there, no one to answer any questions or help checking in, we pulled in at the front of the accommodation for roughly 13mins and got a parking ticket while leaving our bags off as no one was there to help, and we were wakened by other customers constantly ringing the door bell in the evening as they couldn’t get in due to no staff available and no one would answer the mobile number they were ringing from the sign at the front gate… only one toilet working and it was on a different floor than our room, bathroom wasn’t exactly clean the shower wasn’t great

The house is really pretty and clean. There are many bathrooms and toilets. The bedroom is big and equipped with everything we needed. The location is walkable from train station and city center. The breakfast is good. The staff is friendly, generous, nice and helpful. The room is unlocked by a keycard. The place is better than we expected.
The door is safe with the lock but can be very loud at night when people come back late. This is the only bad thing that nothing can help.

I ansolutely adore the place. From the outside the house looks like a fairytale. And inside it felt like at my grandma's - so warm, nice and calm it was. Location is close to the train station. Breakfast was balanced and tasty, they have plant-based milk and boiled eggs among all. Special thanks to wonderful Barbara :)
The only insignificant weakness is sound isolation because of which you should not use the restroom from 10 pm to 8 am. Though, if you organize your time well it won't be a problem for you.

Lanui guesthouse is very good value for money. The location is excellent, the staff is friendly and the property is clean and comfortable. As a solo traveller I stayed in the room with the bunk bed - which also has the only balcony in the building.
The breakfast is good but basic, and the bathrooms are shared which means that there can be instances of waiting for access. Being cheaper than most other options in Sintra these are minor issues though.

I say that as a person who has stayed in many hostels in Portugal and other countries. THIS WAS THE BEST. The price was the same as the hostels around. however the experience was like staying at the hotel. When they say breakfast is included, what I expected was not more than a few breads and cheeses, but we encountered a wonderful breakfast. And the wonderful host Barbara definitely deserves special thanks. 💕Because when we told her that we don't eat meat the day before, she also prepared a cheese plate for us. and when we said we were a little cold the night before and when we went out and came back, we found an extra blanket on our beds. We did this for informational purposes only. 🥹It was great to find such sweet solutions. In general, even Barbara's sweetness is a plus for the hostel. 👑 Apart from all these, the atmosphere of the hostel is very nice and peaceful. always clean and tidy. long story short, we decided to stay here one more day 😂
so far nothing perfect perfect oh! ok, I found a flaw in the hotel. they do not have salt in the kitchen 🧂 as you can see, nothing to complain. 😂

The location was excellent- close to train station and town and away from the hustle and bustle of the of the town. The bed was comfortable, breakfast plentiful with good variety. What made our stay special was Barbara- super pleasant, generous and attentive to the needs of all her clients.
one of the house rules is to cut down on the noise because of the walls being thin- fair enough in an old house. But the toilet was terribly loud and noisy. maybe the owner should considered buying a new toilet.

Liked the location within walking distance to historic Sintra (very pleasant walk ). , and short walk to train station .Lots of choice for breakfast at the guesthouse which was nice and Barbara the support person was 'very helpful and friendly. .
The house is a grand old place but could use some maintenance, for example our on suite bathroom had loose taps and the toilet seat needed to be repaired or replaced.

No doubt the location is one of the main reasons why I chose this place and I couldn't choose better: just next to the train station though in a quiet side street next to the city library. The area is punctuated with fine restaurants, maybe better than those you can find in the downtown which apparently are more touristic....The building is surrounded by a nice garden, an old villa adapted to a guesthouse, that's why not all the rooms are equipped with a private bathroom, the walls come really thin and so on. My stay was comfortable enough and I think I'd come back, despite what I wrote above. Barbara, who welcomed me, was attentive and ready to help.
I didn't like the quality of the orange juice provided and the fact that almost all the sweets were packed and there was no room for any delicious typical Portuguese pastries. So I'd definitely improve breakfast.
