Location is spectacular right in heart of the old town near the castle, churches to visit, the bridge, restaurants etc. Going back in time is wonderful too. The property is beautiful. Pool is fantastic and super chill. Breakfast is excellent and plentiful with a lot of variety of local foods. The cheeses were to die for 😋!

Hotel is truly wonderful but the lack of replacement of amenities in both nespresso capsules/tea and in bathroom (lotion) is disappointing and surprising. For a 5 star hotel I would expect automatic daily replenishment. Breakfast is a late start at 8am so for early risers and those looking to make the first beach ferry that leaves at 8:30am a 7am or 7:30am start would be best.

The courtyard is simply lovely.

For a 5 star hotel, it was disappointing to be asked to pay for a small jug of milk, so that I could enjoy a coffee (using room facilities).

The staff were very friendly and helpful. >The breakfast was amazing and the opportunity to eat outside in the courtyard was brilliant. I was amazed at how quiet the hotel was. I never heard any noise coming from any other room. I also found the perfect gift for a friend and the reception staff were fabulous at putting it all together for me. The hotel is centrally located, just a stones throw away from the Castle and within walking distance to absolutely everything.

I had asked them to make a dinner reservation for me which unfortunately wasn't done but in the end it worked out fine. And I would have liked to get a nice massage but aalas I just didn't have time so I guess I'll have to go again and possibly for a longer period.

Beautiful location with spotless rooms. Very friendly staff who go over and above to help out. Absolutely fabulous breakfast! Dinner also delicious and bar snacks good. Swimming pool not heated in May but swimmable if brave and on the hot days we were there. Quieter hotel, calm and relaxing, not for wild parties. Bring good, grippy walking shoes—top of hill, lots of slippy cobbles! Forget your heels unless using Uber/taxis everywhere (very good, inexpensive service in the town).

Sometimes hard to get service in the bar, but kind staff would rush over to help if asked.

Pousada Convento is in a fantastic location very close to the castle, with a short walk up/downhill to the city centre. We loved the serenity of the courtyard on arrival where we sat and enjoyed a drink. The variety of breakfast options, the quietness of the pool area and, of course, the courtesy and attentiveness of staff. The large open spaces and decor around the hotel gave it such a regal feeling. We spent 9 nights here for my 60th birthday and we couldn't have picked a better stay for this occasion. It was made so much more special when I was greeted with cake and champagne left in our room. I booked a facial and massage which was worth every penny. We also ate a superb meal at the hotel restaurant one evening. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Thank you for making our stay so special.

There wasn't much not to like. Perhaps at least another cabana at the pool.

Staying here was like going back in history...while still enjoying all modern amenities. The former convent is a spectacular setting and we had a spacious room with a large comfortable bed. We very much appreciated the personal care taken by the staff, whether accompanying us to our room to explain the set-up or walking us through the breakfast buffet and making recommendations.

A very minor point, but there were not many plugs in the room

Hotel is in a great location, close to Tavira town, easy to get ferry across to the beautiful island, walking distance to bus station. Staff are super friendly, welcoming and helpful, hotel itself is beautiful with a lovely pool and grounds. Breakfast was plentiful, great choices, attention by Chef at all times.

The air conditioning wasnt very effective, it was particularly hot the week we stayed (high 30's) so maybe this didnt help. Other guests asked to be moved as had same issue. We found the tea facility in our room slightly odd, there were 3 teabags, no coffee, no milk and you had to pay 3 euros per teabag if you wanted any more. You could request a Nespresso machine but were charged 3 euros per pod! For a 4 star hotel found this to be disappointing. These were our only issues, everything else was wonderful.

This is a magnificent place to stay in the heart of old Tavira, full of history and with a relaxing atmosphere. The location is perfect. The staff are very welcoming and the service is impeccable. Our room was spacious and the bed very comfortable, with a large bathroom and plenty of storage. The lavish buffet breakfasts are exceptional, with everything you could want and more, the best we've experienced anywhere. Altogether a very special few days.

A few small things. We're puzzled by the uncharacteristic meanness of providing only four teas and coffees in the room, and then charging for extras. Strange when everything else is so generous. A small personal gripe (common to many hotels) - the room was dimly lit and we found it difficult to read at night. Bedside reading lights would be welcome. Also a second comfortable chair in the room would be welcome - there's plenty of space.

Beautifully set in an old convent but made luxurious. Right in the centre of Tavira but set up the hill so not noisy at all. Exquisitely comfortable bed and room clean and comfortable with excellent bathroom facilities. Pool area lovely. Did not experience breakfast or any other meals as stay was very short- just passing through, but would definitely stay there again
