Small but comfortable room, nicely decorated and very clean. Lovely big shower! Delicious food, exceptional and friendly staff who made our stay as comfortable as possible. The breakfast is well worth it, they provide packed lunches if you need, and dinner was so tasty we ate there multiple times! It's in an ideal location - a 15 min walk from Grasmere with great walks starting right on your doorstep.
Only a couple of very minor things! Rooms face out over the main road, so just be aware that there will be some noise from vehicles if you want the window open. Also the blind didn't go all the way down to the windowsill so there was some light coming in at night.

Love the building, the staff are lovely and friendly, the food is absolutely gorgeous. We stayed in room 8 which is clean, cozy, dog friendly, and has a view of the hills at the back of the property. Breakfast is served between 8:15 and 9:30, you can help yourself to cereal, toast, yoghurt etc, and there’s a variety of cooked options to choose from. The property is situated on a main road, with a substantial car park, a bus stop 1 minute away, and it’s a short walk into Grasmere. There’s a beer garden to the right, we sat with our morning coffee on the benches at the front of the property.
The generator is a little noisy, however isn’t on during the night. The bed is very comfortable but squeaked a little. The hairdryer is useless, bring your own.

It is best if you choose to stay here to go to bed by 11pm & awaken by 7.30am, as the sound of local traffic can cause some a disruption to sleep, but between these times the noise reduces considerably & a restful night's sleep is guaranteed. My room was proficient for the length of time I stayed & was very comfortable & extremely comfortable & very clean. The bathroom was a little cramped but functional, but be mindful when taking a shower as the screen is designed for a larger shower unit & often the power of the water pressure would cause the water to spray the bathroom floor, maybe a shower mat or slip mat would be advisory. I enjoyed both nights eating in the restaurant & found the food to be delightful & extremely tasty. The bar provides plenty of local brews & spirits which I enjoyed on the settee by the environmental log fire, the staff are extremely friendly & helpful if or when you need to make choice decisions.(Please remember to tip generously) Breakfast was basic for a buffet choice, as the European pallet usually enjoys cheese & hams as well as fruits for their start in the morning, but as a national choice is very suitable for this in the UK, hot breakfast choices where more than acceptable & very filling for a days venture or walks.

A comfortable hotel with a very fine restaurant only 20 minutes walk from the centre of Grasmere. The bus to Keswick will also drop you at the door. It is a great location for walking the hills east of Grasmere. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, typical Lake District fare but some of the best I’ve tasted including lamb shank, steak and kidney pudding and sticky toffee pudding. The atmosphere was good with real fires and exposed beams - an old inn but feeling very comfortable
My only niggle was a kitchen fan which made the bedroom quite noisy between 5 and 9.30

Booking the hotel was a last-minute decision, but it turned out to be a hidden gem. A short walk from Grasmere village, it was peaceful yet convenient, and I could leave my car before heading off on my hike. The staff were wonderfully friendly, and my room was spotless, with a beautifully made bed and a little tea and coffee setup—perfect after a long day. The mattress was incredibly comfortable, and I slept like a dream. Though close to the road, the mountain views more than made up for it. A fantastic stay—sometimes, last-minute plans work out perfectly. I will definitely be back again!

Breakfast quality good and service excellent . Evening meals good but worth changing at least part of the menu every day even only if one item changed The staff were very attentive and welcoming . Excellent people , nothing too much trouble
If you choose porridge then it should be considered as an alternative to a cereal and not charged as an extra if you also have a cooked breakfast . Seems penny pinching and does not happen elsewhere Some minor Room 2 issues could be addressed - eg absence of hooks on doors for coats, mirror light not working, no shelves in bathroom or shower for toiletries, No glasses for water Worth installing an EV charging facility in the car park.

In my opinion it's a perfect location not too far from the centre of Grasmere. There are walks from the door enabling you to leave the car behind. It's a small but very friendly and comfortable place to stay. Really enjoyed the breakfast variations and also had an excellent choice on the dinner menu. Nice to come back after a long walk to find the fires have been lit which makes it warm and welcoming. Staff all very friendly and helpful and they do work very hard and it's all done with a smile too.

We had an amazing stay at the Travellers Rest, we were originally booked in for 4 nights and we loved it so much we stayed for an extra night. Perfectly located for walking in the fells, some great walks straight from the hotel. The breakfast each morning was lovely and filled us up for our long days walking. Every meal we had was 10/10, specially the fish and chips, the chips are amazing. The staff were all super friendly and welcoming and ensured our stay was as perfect as possible. Wish we didn’t have to leave!

We liked the room, it was nicely decorated and dressed, the shower was great, the bed very comfy. There was a nice little lounge area for residents and two nice sitting areas to sit outside with a drink and look at the views. The dining room is full of character and the food absolutely delicious, the staff were attentive and very friendly. The pub is situated outside Grasmere village but it is an easy walk to the centre., overall we loved our stay and will be returning.
Although it didn't bother us, the Travellers Rest is on a busy road. To be fair, the traffic is at a minimum late evening and overnight and we slept well throughout our visit. Don't let this stop you from visiting what is a really great place,
Joe

I’m not often moved emotionally by a location, however the Travellers Rest really hit the spot for me! It was a long awaited catch up with my partner and we could not have found a better place, the staff are amazing, they genuinely make you feel so welcomed with a fantastic none judgemental attitude, we have found in the past being a male couple, some establishments act awkward or not very welcoming but not here, it was like coming home and being welcomed by family! The pub/restaurant is absolutely fantastic, could not fault the food, even though we arrived quite late on, they still accommodated us so we could have a good hearty meal! After our food, we where shown to the room (No3) what a beautiful, clean and comfortable room, I thought that we had been put in a much more expensive room but this is the standard that you can see they clearly strive for. Being out in the countryside, the hotel was amazingly quiet with just the occasional traffic noise, this did not bother us at all, we sleep with the window open so could not moan in the slightest, they have secondary glazing so I am confident that you would not hear the traffic noise! Breakfast was just superb, a great selection of cereals and drinks to get you started, the menu selection is also very good with plenty to choose from, we both had the full English breakfast, this set us both up for the day and a 6 hour walk! I would 110% come back here, especially knowing that they are dog friendly in certain rooms. If you do choose to stay here, I must suggest that you go outside when it’s dark and the bar has closed, the darkness and silence is almost spiritual, a genuinely perfect location! I hope to see the staff at The Traveller’s Rest very soon! Kindest Regards Joe & Ross
Just one nitpick, it’s not an issue and did not affect our stay in the slightest but the shower head in Room 3 could do with replacing or repairing, the chrome part of the shower head just felt as if it could come off at any point, apart from this, everything was just perfect!
