I really liked our room, it was really cozy! The beds were so clean and comfortable, my friends and I had great nights’ sleep. The restrooms and showers were also really clean and all functioning properly. We really loved how there were common areas and game rooms, and even a small kitchen for guests to cook their own food in! We put that kitchen to good use. The staff were all very friendly and helpful as well, they made us feel very welcome. The location is very strategic, being very close to the town shops, and also being the same footpath up to Easedale Tarn. Overall, I think considering everything, this is definitely a great value for money, and it was worth every penny! I would come stay again, no doubt.

I think because the Hostel is located on a slightly hilly area with very little night lights along the way, it made it slightly uncanny to walk up to the Hostel when it got dark. But other than that, everything was tip top.

Location was excellent, lots of great walks right on your doorstep and close to all the pubs and cafés in Grasmere. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms, bedding, toilets and communal areas all very clean and well kept. , Didn't eat at the hostel but seemed like a good choice of food available.

Parking was limited although I was lucky enough to secure a space . Hand dryer in toilet was on the wall just the other side of my bedroom , this did wake me up a couple of times . Could be moved or replaced with paper towels.

Great location, free parking, well equipped kitchen *if a bit small for the amount of rooms* Staff super friendly. Would stay again but only short stays because you don't really sleep in a hostel. Met some strangers and still had a ball.

WiFi sucked - more off than on. Kitchen only has one 4 ring cooker for ALL of the rooms, and one under shelf fridge, so gets busy in the eves. NOISE. Zero soundproofing. Normal hostel noise. People walking about from 6am for hikes or whatever, people humping next door... Kitchen plays music from 7am. No control over the heating. There is a dial on the wall. It does nothing.

A wonderful building located just a a couple of minutes walk from Grasmere itself. The staff are amazing - working a team and all enjoying what they do. Rooms and beds are clean and spacious, while the shared toilets and showers are also spot on. It seemed they were always being inspected and cleaned which is a credit to the team there. The self-catering kitchen (Main building) is very well equipped and a great place to chat and make new friends. Then one can choose to eat in the dining area, move to the very comfortable lounge, or make use of the TV lounge (almost reads like a hotel!!). Such a wonderful place to be. I will be back very very soon.

I still do not understand why YHA cannot put up clear notices in stairwells and corridors reminding people that 23.00 to 07.00 (or whatever) is a quiet time and needs to be respected. There was a re-union group in while I was there and they carried on until 01.00. Not against that, but with more notices, one of them might have suggested they keep the noise down a bit. There are no staff present in the property, so it really has to be self-managed. I am sure the noisy people had a nice sleep in, but those of us heading for the mountains next day had an early start after a truncated nights sleep.

Honestly my kids were most nervous about staying in a hostel, but we had the most fun from our entire stay (road-tripping throughout the UK). The kitchen was a relief—getting dinner after a long day, or options for full breakfast the next morning were awesome. We spent a lot of time in the game room—and ended up having to buy Clue after we returned home because it was so much fun to just have that time…

It’s not a true dislike—just stressed about the parking because we arrived in the dark and rain. We were able to park down the hill, but it wouldn’t been frustrating to park even further. Shared bathrooms are part of a hostel so it is what it is. We had bunk beds for the 5 of us, not the most comfortable, but great for what I expected.

Having stayed at this YHA previously I love it's location. As usual the staff were superb, polite, friendly, and very informative.

I understand we are all feeling the effects of the cost of living prices inc food and energy so I understand and accept YHA has had to increase the cost of the food it offers within the hostels...but the portion sizes are a little embarrassing... £11.95 for a burger and not even a handful of chips to accompany it. £11.95 for a child size portion of Lasagne which is why my plate was swamped in lettuce to make the portion look bigger than it was haha... Other guests we spoke with all said the same... the meal sizes wouldn't fill a child up...

nice place, next to town, well connected

the hand driers in the toilets were extremely noisy and used until late at night an since early morning, and as the walls of our room didn't have good isolation (apparently), it was extremely noisy and made sleeping difficult (we were next to the toilets). Maybe they could be disconnected after 10 PM? (or ask people to not use them)

The house was set in a lovely location very warm and inviting the room was clean and spacious and met our needs just newly painted in the reception area with a suited colour scheme beds comfy as they always are staff very pleasant and helpful

The self catering kitchen was on the small size enough for two people at once although an extra kitchen available down in another building but steps quite slippy if wet or icy and not a lot of lighting in the dark and needs resurfacing with tarmac at top step which is uneven also would be nice for the bird feeders to be filled with seed for our feathered friends as there is a great viewing location in the lounge area apart from that no complaints a great place to stay would definitely return

The hostel is very centrally located in Grasmere and provides basic but clean accommodation. The room was small but warm and ample, whilst showers and kitchen facilities were all good. There are numerous lounge areas whilst staff were all very friendly. Car parking was provided free of charge.

There was nothing bad really. Everything was fine.

The cleanliness of the place is remarkable, the kitchen and kitchenette, bathrooms and showers, the reading and dining area and finally the room. Fresh white sheets and comfy mattress. Super friendly staff! There is a free of charge washer and dryer in the drying room in the basement. Amazing!

Nothing I can think of.
