Breakfast was well laid out for self choice with main course selective off a menu, ordered and cooked by the kitchen. That meant the food was hot and fresh. Evening meals were selective from a menu of good choices. Food was ordered at the bar and serves, to my reserved table, with speed and pleasantly.
The noise of the kitchen extractor fan. Just outside the windows of No. 10 bedroom. It was not switched off until 11.30pm and back on at 6.30am both nights. It reached 58 decibels at times. Generally 43dB. And that was through double glazed windows and thickly, closed, curtains.

The location and facilities at the hotel were great. Staff were helpful and friendly and the service was fantastic. Check in was easy and the room was spacious and well furnished, beds were comfortable and bathroom was modern and clean. Large carpark made parking easy and safe. Breakfast was lovely with all diets catered for. There was plenty of room to accommodate all guests eating so you did not feel rushed or crammed in.
The only small criticism was the family room was an annex behind the main hotel which was a bit tricky to access through the hotel, for some the number of stairs may be a problem with luggage, although there is a quick short cut through the courtyard at the back of the kitchens. This also made it a bit noisy in the morning with deliveries and staff in and out of the kitchen but overall it did not detract from the stay and I would definitely stay again.

Staff were all very friendly and helpful, I was visiting on my own with two large dogs and they found me a table out of the way and helped with drinks at the table. Mornings were always greeted with a friendly man who went out of his way to help you. The budget room I had was huge, perfect for two dogs and the shower.... Wow! Beds were comfy and huge, and I had the best night's sleep. I got a free drink for not having my room made on my first night which is a great idea! The restaurant had a really good selection of dishes with a lot of vegan options, which was delicious and very reasonably priced. Over all I will definitely be back!
Noise on a night time from my room from the bar below but it went off at 11pm so wasn't too bad. The hotel was just a short walk out of Grasmere but on a dark night it's pitch black along the road so didn't like to venture out even with a torch.

The hotel has a really lovely feel to it, the staff were exceptional. The room we stayed in was much larger than we had expected, the bed was comfy, the en-suite shower was great. The bar was well stocked and it was great to see locally sourced ales available. The hotel is perfectly situated for a walk into Grasmere centre, we walked around Grasmere Lake on our first day of our stay (Don't forget to have some bird seed with you for the robins if you do the same walk, two would have eaten out of our hands if we had thought to take any along!) and Rydal Water the second day. Fantastic short break all round!
My husband's evening meal was ok but unfortunately my 'curry' was just tomato sauce with a hint of cumin. The waitress was fantastic, she gave me a free drink and knocked the meal off our bill.

The staff were mainly older and super friendly which we really liked Breakfast was superb with choice of a cooked breakfast which included eggs benedict and other great choices Room was spacious and overlooked the hills Is on the bus route so easy to get to Keswick or the other way to Ambelside, Windermere, Bowness We did lots of walking routes out of Grasmere
the toilet seat was broken which we did report on the first day ( friday ), but was told the maintenance man wasn't in, so was not fixed throughout our stay which was 3 nights bathroom was very small. We are both very petite and getting in and out of the shower was tricky!

Loved the decor and surroundings .Very warm and able to alter the temperature and open the windows. Staff were mostly really helpful and lovely but were obviously very busy. Evening meals we had were very tasty . It was beautifully decorated for Christmas and the Wordsworth chairs were just something else.
Felt that The Swan was very corporate and was masquerading as a country inn which will suit a lot of people but to me it lost its charm. Breakfast was really disappointing with no feeling of being " a guest" at all. We were running round after each other getting juice and coffee and back for toast and the breakfast I had on one day was really very pathetic. That saying the two chaps who were waiting on were kind and funny and a credit to the place. I have such mixed feelings about the place it's hard to say if I would return . Had a wonderful couple of days in beautiful Grasmere though .

We absolutely loved our stay at The Swan! It couldn’t have been more cosy, Christmassy and welcoming on a bleak wet and cold December weekend! Absolutely loved the decor in the inn, all decked out for Christmas. Love all the little cosy rooms off the bar. Fantastic location, so handy for Grasmere, and free parking is a massive bonus in the lakes. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful, efficient and friendly. Our room was superb, very comfy bed and a gorgeous bathroom with fabulous shower. Everything was spotlessly clean. The evening meal was gorgeous and a superb breakfast next morning with an excellent choice on the menu. Can not fault the place, have driven past many times and thought how beautiful it looked, now that we have stayed I know that it is and we are already talking about staying again in March. Keep doing what you are doing, will recommend to family and friends.
Nothing.

Just amazing from check in to check out everything ran smoothly. The hotel is fabulous, lovely rooms , cosy bar and dining room, with open fires. The food was absolutely delicious, breakfast too. Most importantly was the staff and superb customer service, they made our stay even better. The Inn is set in an idyllic setting, where the stars shine brightly in dark skies, walkable to Grasmere or just a short drive away, fab walks on the doorstep. Thank you once again to the wonderful staff for making our stay perfect, and for helping my brother who had a small accident , you were amazing. We will be back soon ... 😘🫶

We loved out stay at the Inn! The room was very clean and spacious! We had a budget room but the view and quality was incredible. Bed was 2 singles but honestly did not notice it! The food is also incredible, strongly recommend to stay to eat!! We had the scotch eggs and lamb koftas for starter (definitely recommend the scotch eggs), and The Swan inn burger and prawn and mussel linguni! The breakfast was fab too! It’s a very cosy pub with a few games, and very peaceful location with a bus stop outside. Big thanks again to all the staff!
Nothing! Just don’t be frightened by the William Wordsworth faces on the chairs haha

The location was was perfect with regard to visiting Grasmere, Windermere, Ambleside and Keswick, and the view over Grasmere village stunning. As the inn was located just off the road down to the village it was peaceful and quiet. Because of the age and design of the inn it was full of nooks and crannies which made finding your room interesting but it added to the enjoyment of our stay. There was a large private beer garden and plenty of parking and Grasmere village was only a five minute walk away. The Inn decor was stunning; there is an original chair used by Wordsworth in the lounge and it was fascinating to think he walked from his house 5-10 minutes away to drink at the inn. Every member of staff we spoke to was friendly and helpful. The room we had was spotless and had a good size bed which was extremely comfy. The breakfasts were excellent and the staff could not have been more engaging. We ate in the first night and the food was excellent. There was a good choice on the menu and the food was hot and tasty. it was a joy to stay at this inn.
Dogs! We understand and appreciate the inn is pet friendly but it was a bit of a nuisance when some of the dogs barked at each other. However, it wasn't so bad it would put us off staying there again.
