The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Gave me a good route for a run. Are really close to the city centre and beautiful countryside. The room was immaculate and comfortable. The roof terrace was lovely. Breakfast was excellent and were able to help yourself to tea, coffee etc when ever you wanted. The hotel were very relaxed about you bringing your own food, drink etc. Were able to buy drinks from the pub next door and sit in the sunshine on the roof. Winchester was great and we had an excellent time. Wouldn’t hesitate in recommending The Black Hole. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The location was excellent, just a short walk to the High Street. Exceptionally clean, quirky and interesting establishment. No drink facilities in the room but tea and coffee machine available, with plenty of hot drink choices whenever you want.Lovely small roof top area to sit and look out across to the Cathedral. Just a really comfortable easy vibe. Although no parking at the The Black Hole, plenty of easy parking less than 5 minutes down the road, reasonably priced. Good breakfast with all you need in the morning. Just a really nice stay, thank you.
Nothing.

Absolutely everything! Amazing little place quirky, unusual & fab decor which we loved & found really different. The Team were really friendly & helpful, nothing too much trouble. The room& facilities were bright, clean, spotless & bed fab really comfy! The full English breakfast included was brilliant cooked to order & kept us going the entire day til the evening. Brilliant quiet peaceful location but simultaneously near to centre lamdmarks etc & really lovely short walk into the centre along the river. We will definitely be going back to stay as soon as we can & would most definitely recommend this property to anyone.
Can honestly say there was absolutely nothing we didn't like !

Pros - Quirky B&B, great theme throughout - comfey bed - Very clean - Good location, short walk to city centre - Staff helpful - Breakfast selection good (noticed no one ate their sausages, maybe change them, as not great)
- Road very loud - Room too hot in the night - no fan & unable to open window due to road noise - Water in shower barely warm - light in hallway kept coming on during the night and shining under the door, lighting the room - Tea making facilities downstairs- would prefer in room - 2nd night, no milk available- had to go to the pub next door to ask for some - no mention on booking.com the fact they can store tour bags if needed. We eneded up paying for somewhere to keep our bags on our last day. -both pillows same firmness on the bed. They were fine for me though

The quirky things like the shelf next to the bed is made from a book and the pipes etc. looks very cool and funky. Location was excellent and only a 10 minute walk from the centre. Pub next door was absolutely amazing! Breakfast was really nice too and plenty of choice.
No parking so you have to park in a multi storey carpark and so you need to remember to get there asap in the morning to get another ticket on there as they are right on you! Yup! Got a ticket as half hour late getting out of bed! Walls are very thin and can hear people talking in the next rooms and TV etc .. Personally I'd move breakfast to 10 ish. When you are having a break the last thing you want is to get up early cos breakfast stops at 9 and we didn't want to get up immediately and eat. We wanted a bit more time to wake up and relax before eating.

The unique bedroom doors from the old Clerkenwell Prison. The bowls etc for breakfast giving the prison theme. The wonderful pictours of Crims down the stairways added so much atmosphere. Location was great, excellent co-owned pub next door and outside the City centre. Very good breakfast and open access to tea and coffee at all times in the food area.
I used to pas this spot back in the 1980s/19900s on my way between Pompey to Andover for work. So I know it was busy and noisy at times with traffic. So it can still be noisy here, but generally I got a good sleep. Its a general hazard. My only negative was the light/socket back plates are clear plastic, so it was not easy to find the switches. I did like the library wallpaper but a more solid background for switches would be nice. Very minor complaint I know.

Breakfast was excellent, friendly staff, very informative, great tip about walking into town along the river, it was definitely the way to go
Was disappointed that the adjoining pub did not do food, only pizzas on selected days, therefore we walked into town, great at this time of year, not so good in the winter, when we would like to attained the Christmas market. There were no grab rails in the bathroom for ease of access or even a slip resistant mat which would have made showering a better experience.Lovely shower.

Lovely, quirky place to spend the night. You don't go to your room but to a cell. The door inside and out looks like a prison cell. There are very interesting photos on the walls about old convicts from years gone by. Room has everything you need, comfy bed and good wifi. Lots of food on offer for breakfast including a full English to fill you up. Walking distance to everything in town via the back way past Wolsely Castle, well worth a visit.
Only there one night and had everything I needed.

Location excellent - largely historical with a 5 minute walk to town centre. Huge comfortable bed in large quirky room. Staff really helpful and kind. Great full English breakfast included in very reasonable room rate. Access to free coffee/tea/chocolate/juice throughout stay was a lovely extra. An even quirkier pub is attached but sadly we did not get time to visit.
Room was too hot so it was difficult to sleep - although a fan was available and we could have opened a window. Hotel could save money by turning down heating a few degrees without anyone noticing.

Quirky hotel. The communal area open 24/7 to make drinks or snacks works well. Friendly welcome, thorough tour and info on arrival. 'Cells' have ample plug sockets and huge fluffy towels. A great stay - thank you. Here comes the negative - lady serving breakfast on our first day wasn't the happiest of souls. She was efficient, but very brusque. A 2nd lady, who cooked our breakfast both days, was very professional - ensured we had all we needed in our cell. Thoroughly recommend.
Brusqueness of lady serving breakfast.
