Have stayed here three times now (and just booked up for next year 2023), we always come down every year for a short weekend stay for the Xmas markets in Winchester, which is just a couple of miles down the road. The Plough Inn is excellent in every regard. The rooms are comfortable, clean and cosy with excellent facilities like good showers, tea & coffee and Sky TV and decorated to a good standard. The pub is spotless, cosy and inviting and the restaurant is the same. The food quality is superb and we always have our main evening meals here rather than eat in Winchester itself (not because Winchester doesn't have good restaurants but simply because the Plough Inn is too good to pass up). Breakfast is also of a high standard. The staff are very friendly and helpful. This place has a 2-Star rating on Google but that's complete nonsense and a Google glitch. This is easily a 4-Star establishment and the prices are superb in this current climate.

Nothing at all. If I had to be nit-picky, then I would say maybe just a couple more options on the restaurant menu. But that's just me trying to find something to suggest, when in fact the menu is probably spot on and enough choice for anyone (even vegetarians)

Room was comfortable and warm, well lit, big enough but not huge. Bathroom newly fitted out, I particularly liked the shaving mirror and the very effective shower. WiFi solid and fast enough for a decent work connection through a VPN. Nice choice of well kept real ales in the bar, meals good enough that there was no need to go in search of better. Good breakfast too.

Not a didn't like, but room for improvement: I would have liked a desk to work at, but space is a bit tight so it would need some thought. I also much prefer a pod coffee machine to instant "coffee" in a room.

We book a room for the night on the way through heading home as we have often passed Winchester but not stayed so figure why not. The staff were so lovely and accommodating, the room was clean, comfortable and perfect size, great balcony to sit out and have a cuppa! - the bar offers a range of ales and beers popular to taste along with a wide range of spirits, liquors. The food was incredible the starters, the best burger I think I’ve ever eaten and a gorgeous desert all accompanied with two pints of Moretti and desert wine to finish the evening a beautiful Muscat Elysium! Would highly recommend the stay, we slept comfortably and the staff were respectful of people staying when leaving and closing up. A gem of a place.

The location was excellent and very scenic with the surrounding village very nice. The breakfasts were good and we had evening meals on two of the nights. The evening meals were delicious and beautifully presented, they were really quite special. The staff were friendly and helpful and the service was excellent at all times. The room was a little small but was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. It had everything we required including Sky TV. There was ample parking to the rear of the Inn. There was lovely outdoor garden and drinking area which would have been lovely in the summer. It was very good value for the money and hope to return sometime soon.

There wasn't anything we really disliked.

Great food, fabulous evening meal and breakfasts. Very comfy room. Friendly team happy to chat when they can. Good walk-in shower (though hard to regulate the temperature). Fantastic chef, delicious meal, and hot food was piping hot, which is a real treat. Good parking.

Just a tip for other travellers. I like the windows open, sadly we had a mosquito visitor so bring repellent if humid (not pubs fault) and road was a little noisy early morning for me but we’d definitely stay again as these are really very minor points.

The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, and the shower was powerful and easy to operate. The staff were friendly, helpful and very professional in their work. We had breakfasts and evening dinners in the hotel on both days, and the food was beautifully cooked and presented. I can recommend both the steak and ale pie and the fish and chips! There was a choice of local ales, all good too.

The en-suite shower room was on the small side, but apart from that everything was just fine.

We stayed here as a stop over on our way down to Lymington. We were in the Mole room which was a very nice room, comfortable bed, great shower and the little details of offering alternative milks to go with tea & coffee was a nice touch. We had an evening meal and the food was lovely, the staff were very nice and helpful. The breakfast had a good selection and was also lovely. The Plough is a lovely pub (did some good real ales) in a quiet village. We would definitely stay again and visit the area.

Amazing food from the restaurant downstairs. Talked to the owner who seemed friendly and welcoming. Room clean and comfy. Would definitely return. Other reviews have mentioned traffic - we didn't notice it at all, but in fairness it was October so didn't have the windows open much.

Only a minor quibble - we stayed with our dog (who was made very welcome), got told to take him out down the fire escape if he needed a wee in the night - it's made of crossed metal sheets (I can't work out how to explain it, like criss crossed strips of metal) which he wouldn't have been able to walk on without getting his paws stuck- carrying a dog up the stairs in the dark while it's raining isn't ideal at 3am.

Lovely location, very well presented, clean and tidy throughout. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Our room was amazing, light and spacious with its own balcony overlooking the garden, perfect for sitting outside after dinner. Recently decorated the furnishings were very comfortable with its own en-suite. Our evening meal was excellent, we particularly liked the sharing starter. Breakfast was equally as good with a range of options.

Nothing! It’s our new favourite! 😀

It's a beautiful dog friendly rural pub with gorgeous rooms and friendly staff and locals. It was really clean and was one of the best places we have ever stayed. The food was superb and we would highly recommend it to everyone and would definitely stay there again.

As our stay was in November, it was very cold outside. Although our room was central heated, the heating was timed and therefore we were cold on arrival before it kicked in and the heating knocked off quite early in the morning and the cold did wake us up. Otherwise we have no other complaints.
