Warm greeting on arrival and the offer of a free 'upgrade'. Shown to a tastefully decorated room of very good size with a settee as well as the bed. There was also a bathroom with shower over the bath. First impressions were great. The dinners we had that night and on our last evening were very good quality and the atmosphere was great. Our breakfasts were also of good quality. Staff were really friendly and helpful. We used the bus to get to Winchester which stops opposite for the outward journey and next to the pub on return and operates frequently. We could have used it to get to Romsey too if that hadn't been on the way home.

Some features of the room need urgent updating. The logistics of the room didn't quite work. While access was good it means that the road is very close to the front garden that gets the sun and the back area was shady. The menus were limited and the prices not cheap. Breakfast was notably limited in options offered; no continental or cereal apart from porridge.

Liked the location, park easily, food was great especially the haddock with minted peas. The roasts looked great. Service at the bar was excellent, the restaurant very clean. Room was small however had everything that you could need hairdryer, ironing board, iron, tea coffee facilities, bottled water, fan and night light.

Thought the wine overpriced, also the loos door has a step which you don’t realise is there. The shower wasn’t very clean, kettle had water in and no batteries in the remote for the television which was rectified quickly.

Fabulous food - locally sourced and all dishes served with attention to detail on presentation. 100% will be eating there again. The room lovely and quirky with lovely touches, a sleigh bed gave a wonderfully comfortable sleep, very luxurious.

The en-suite facilities were tired, lots of water mould on the silicone and tiles discoloured for the same reason. The shower tray needs to be replaced due to the same issue and gives a feeling of not being clean. Mould evident on the ceiling and walls too due to steam damage.

beautiful location, great breakfast and excellent service from Norbut and his staff

The room was very comfortable, but just needs some attention to the small details, toilet coupling needs fixing on, Shower needs a deep clean as the tiles are grubby in the cubical. lamp shades all need fixing on and the ironing board needs to be replaced with a standard lightweight one, impossible to use the current one supplied. small rips in the bed linen and disappointing one of the two cups in the tea tray were absolutely filthy, clearly no one is checking this,

Beautiful location. Typical pub hotel. Friendly staff and comfortable room. Enjoyable dinner. Would definitely go back.

£4 for a ‘side’ of one spoonful of mash potato upset me a little. I would maybe suggest a bit of a clean of the bathrooms. Dirty grout and lots of mould or holes in the ceiling. Whilst I appreciate an old building it could do with a bit more care. Appreciate costs money ! Also hand soap at the sink in bathroom would have been welcome. Only small shampoo, conditioner and bubble bath provided and 1 small bottle of each when 2 guests staying.

The staff were excitant, a nice pint of bear, the food was delicious and the room was comfortable, clean and well maintained. Off road parking was no problem at all. Beautiful location and easy to find.

Needs EV destination chargers. There is a filter on Booking.com and lots of other sites that will filter out hotels that don't have them so you could be missing out on customers. Air-conditioning would have been an advantage. It was a hot night, I had to sleep with the window open and the fan on all night. The chiller outside was kicking in and out but didn't keep me awake for long. 8am breakfast was way too late for me, but I am an early riser and usually in the office by 6am.

The staff were great, dealt with all my issues quickly. Lovely shower Great choices for breakfast and really tasty too

No milk for tea and coffee, but given milk straight away when informed. No hairdryer, but given hairdryer straight away when informed. Double duvet folded in half and put in single duvet cover which was very lumpy so I had to take it out of the cover, so better to have put a double cover on even for a single bed.

This stay was exceptional from start to finish and I will stay again if I am in the south again in a heartbeat. The staff were friendly, polite , yet very professional in the way they conducted themselves and attended to my every need and request. Upon arrival I did not have milk for tea in the room and when I asked , the staff gave me a choice of hot /cold fresh milk and took it up to my room for me ( I think this was due to covid 19 rules etc) . I had a slight issue with not being able to draw the blinds in the room ( they were very particular fabric style and old school ) and the staff came and helped straight away - this was more of a personal difficulty rather than the blinds being particularly hard to shift . Staff were so friendly and asked me how I was at breakfast. A choice of food offered on the menu , full English and a few other cooked breakfast options, in addition to cereal , coffee , fruit juice etc. Also had dinner on the first night there which was delicious and a total life saver as i stayed on 27th December, bank holiday and couldnt find anywhere serving food past 6 pm! Ample parking and the b and b was easy to access from the main road. I was worried about it being noisy at night with it being a pub , but was very quiet and got to sleep well during night time hours.

Nothing, it was the perfect stay.
