I stayed 9 nights at K’s House and would definitely recommend it to anyone who would like to have a local taste of Hakuba Valley’s country life. Toshi and Megumi run the hostel in a manner that you don’t feel like traveling but living there. 1. Everything is clean and organized, I like the shared kitchen and living room especially. The level of tidiness would remind people to keep it clean for the next customers. 2. The toilets and shower room always have plenty amount of toilet paper. The litter bin is almost emptied every time I use it. It must be cleaned very frequently. 3. Ski/snowboard gears are at their most suitable places, which ensure there is enough space in the room. 4. Toshi took customers for grocery shopping every 3-4 days though it means he’ll be very busy driving in and out. And he nicely showed me the exact shelf where the things I need. He also considerately send me to the transfer location on my leaving day. Overall I spend some very peaceful days there and really enjoy the chemistry of this lovely hostel. I’ve already book the next travel back here and look forward to seeing them soon.

Ks House was far better than we had anticipated given its description as a hostel. We stayed in a twin room with ensuite attached for 4 nights, which was a pretty good size, there was a small TV and a little table with 2 chairs which made the room more cramped. Linen and towels were provided. Bedrooms located upstairs and the common area is downstairs - this area really is cozy, with some couches, tables and chairs (western or Japanese option), and floor to ceiling windows that wrap around giving you a stunning view of the outside. The shared kitchen was never too crowded and was always in a clean state. The staff are what make this stay great. Toshi (hope I spelled this right) seemed like he was always around to answer questions or give advice. It really had a homely feeling. The drying room was small but they solved this issue by having gear (skis, boards, boots) downstairs and clothing (helmets, gloves, jackets, pants) on drying on racks on the 2nd floor. In terms of location, in winter, there was a free shuttle that picked you up just on the corner of the street and took you to Goryu Mountain- from there the other main busses can take you to the other mountains. We walked once, and although mostly an uphill climb with gear, it only took 15 minutes. There are a few restaurant options within walking distance as well and did not feel the need to get a taxi anywhere. The longest walk is to the 7/11 (15mins). Very convenient location.

You could feel the springs in the beds but otherwise after a big day of snowboarding, you don't tend to notice that for too long. A small set of drawers for clothes or some shelving to put empty bags on to help clear the floor would be ideal as we had a suitcase and a snowboard bag. We didn't use the chairs as we sat on the beds and we never used the TV as we had phones or tablets/laptops.

The owners of this guesthouse are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. It was a great atmosphere in the house with lots of friendly people and we felt welcome chilling in the shared lounge in the evenings. Our room size was big enough for a long weekend snowboarding and we appreciated the parking space, too. The coffee each morning was a big bonus, as it kept being refilled and tasted very good. It's great that there are also some snacks and drinks available for purchase in the guesthouse and there are quite a few great restaurants and bar closeby. The location is great, you're close to Goryu / Hakuba 47, but still in the part that feels less touristy. Also, the heater in the room made it comfortably warm (which is not always the case in Japanese houses). We would like to come back and stay again at K's House!

Even though we had a wonderful experience overall, it would be great to have more shelves and storage options in the room.

This was my first hostel and solo overseas travel experience. I was initially a bit nervous about this but as soon as I arrived at K’s House, I felt at ease. Toshi and Migumi were so accomodating and helpful, e.g. whether it was knowing every guest’s name and wishing them good morning, picking me up and dropping me off to the bus station or providing advice about lift tickets. The place was spotless and had such a nice homely ski lodge sort of feel. I can’t recommend this place more!! It won’t disappoint.

What I liked the most was that the Japanese owners, the husband and wife, were very good at English. I really appreciated the organization of the garbage sorting system here. It was very organized. I had free access to the kitchen equipment and the common area had a great atmosphere, everyone was sitting together eating, some were checking emails, some were reading books, some were chatting, it was a very intimate atmosphere, and the owner of the hotel also used this area to eat with his own family, I felt like I was at home. I drove to a parking lot that was quite adequate and free.

Since this is a 2-storey house, there is no elevator, so if you have heavy luggage, you may need to use a lot of strength to lift it up. Other than that, there's nothing I don't like, everything is great. There are no restaurants or convenience stores in the area around the accommodation. You have to bring food from outside and cook or prepare it at the accommodation. However, if you have a car, you can drive out to buy things not far away.

This is my 3rd time staying at K's house Hakuba. Thank you Toshi san hosing and so happy to be here again. This time is the most memorable one ever. The first thing I must commend is the host; they are friendly and helpful, contributing significantly to making your stay more relaxing and comfortable. K's house is 5-10mins from Kamishiro Station, and 10mins walk to the Goryu snow resort. Daily shuttle bus available run by Goryu snow resort. It has got a well-Equipped Kitchen, with a fridge, toaster, microwave. The common area offers coffee and tea bags, as well as a snack area where guests can purchase quick and easy snacks. These amenities add to the convenience and comfort of the stay.

There is a 7-11 with a 15min walk away, which may be inconvenient. 2 restaurants right beside the hostel, and 2 more with-in 10min walk. But they are usually quite full. If you are staying in a shared room, you will never know who you are meeting. Luckily my roommates all are unexceptionally good. But you may also meeting some guests who sleep late or some other situations. It's all by luck. Finally, this one has nth do with the hostel, just a piece of information to help you better plan you trip. I planned to take the first bus at kamishino bus stop to nagano at 8:30(Sat). It ended up 2 bus come late and full. I waited for an hour for the 9:30 bus.

The best place to stay for a ski trip in Hakuba. - Convenient location to Goryu slopes, we were able to walk to the slopes. - Cleanest common areas you will find in a hostel, lovely lounge and great organised kitchen - Snacks and drinks at a great price - Perfectly set up for skiers and snowboarders with storage areas, lift passes and rental shop nearby with discount. - Most of all, Toshi, Megumi and their girls are the most wonderful people. They remembered our names from the first day, took us to our ski lessons - and made sure we knew where we were going, gave restaurant recommendations, sorted us with ski gear and passes, supermarket trips and more! They were so accommodating and made our trip unforgettable.

We absolutely loved our stay here! Toshi and Megumi were so welcoming and hospitable. They did absolutely everything they could do make sure we were set up for our first ski trip as well as organising how to get to our next destination and dropping us off at the station. Their place is extremely clean, organised and has everything you would need for your stay. Great views from the windows too. We will definitely stay here again if we visit Hakuba next time. Thanks for everything guys :)

I had the most wonderful stay at Ks house. The hosts Meg and Toshi were wonderful, they made my stay feel as if I were visiting friends. The facilities were great, with a communal kitchen and lovely big living and dining area. The hostel has a very communal atmosphere with lots of guest socialisation. The location is great, within walking distance of the ski lifts but also very close to the shuttle stop if you're feeling lazy.

It was a very warm, welcoming hostel for our family of 5. Toshi, Magumi and Hiromi (the hosts) were so friendly, accommodating and kind. They were always available if we needed something. It was always clean and tidy. The kitchen was well equipped for the number of guests and if we needed something we just had to ask. Showers were great and facilities excellent. It is only a small hostel, but our time there was relaxing and easy. Toshi was very knowledgeable of any local information. It was close enough to walk to the slopes and a few shops, restaurants. A lovely place to stay.

Nothing really. The rooms were a little small but they were comfortable. A little more storage would be nice But for short term stays it’s a great place.
