The location is close enough to walk to the Waterfront but this is South Africa, one doesn't feel safe walking around after dark. My room (private ensuite) was clean enough, bed comfortable, shower hot, can't complain. Staff (mostly volunteers) was friendly and helpful; long term-ish residents were also friendly and nice.

Breakfast is the same every day - cheap stuff (watery coffee, boiled eggs, non descriptive sliced bread, margarine spread, etc.). There's absolutely nothing free outside of the breakfast hours - no teas, coffee, water, sugar for tea, salt if you're lucky, no pepper, cooking oil, etc. Also, one has to put a deposit on everything, storage food containers, towels.... This is a big place with 100 beds, and even in off-peak times, there were at least 50 people around, meaning the owners should make enough money to provide these essentials. Then again, when a place is this big, guess they have run into situations where people would take advantage of these (free) things?? Nah, they make enough money! Dorm rooms have no privacy, no curtains, etc.

As a full time traveler and avid hostel stayer, I always like to try out new hostels when traveling. Atlantic Point was fantastic from check in to check out. The room I was in, was clean, the beds had enough space apart from each other and they were not bunks (which helps when you're disabled). The kitchen is clean, large and the meeting hub for all guests when they're onsite. Breakfast is basic but filling. I enjoyed it. Check in and check out were smooth. There wasn't anything I didn't like just maybe some suggestions. - In Winter spare blankets are always a great idea. I bought my own so didn't need one but I noticed that there weren't any extras on the beds. - The onsite atm gave me some issues, this should probably be looked at. Otherwise a fantastic first experience with Atlantic Point Backpackers, so much so that I'll be back shortly. Jenny, Marsha and Emily were all ever so helpful during my stay. Thanks ladies, see you soon.

This was a very social hostel! Not like party social but I found everyone there was friendly and happy to talk about their day or your plans etc… as a solo traveller, I really enjoyed how easy it was to meet new people here. The dorm rooms were big with their own private bathrooms (for the dorm’s use). The kitchen seemed large and orderly although I did not use it. I felt very safe in this location. The airport shuttle was very reasonable and it was wonderful to wander out of the airport and have somebody who knew what was up there to take you to the hostel.

The entire first day I was there, the wifi was not working. It came back on in the evening but not helpful when you are brand new and don’t have a SA SIM card yet. The staff were really quiet/ not overly helpful :( I only was there for 3 days and only interacted with 2 of them, but both interactions did not solve my problem. I requested a bottom bunk but was given a top. The pool leaves a lot to be desired

Receptionists were so hospitable and friendly!! I like to talk with them. Dormitory is so clean and neat, and brilliant!! We can use a locker with own padlock. I like their garden and balcony as well!! Because it was so cozy. I can chill by myself even though full of guests inside. When I got some problems from the other guest, they did thier best again and again. It was so impressive so much. Finally they accepted my feelings. I appreciate them to make me comfortable to stay here. And hope I can meet them again and they will keep going well their life:)) Thank you so much!!

When you feel bad, you can ask and discuss cool receptionists:)

The dormitory upstar was very clean and cozy, even equipped with AC. Beds were very comfortable, it seems that maitress were new. We had a private shower and toilet for our dorm, while dorm downstair is one bathroom for 3 dormitories. It was quiet and relaxing at night. Outdoor area is pleasant to have shared time. Area very safe.

We slept the first night in the "Forest Dorm", there was a terrible smell of feet, even windown open it was still smelling. We had to change the room free of charge. I believe having this "fake" grass carpet is not a good idea it keeps bad smell. It was also smelling by the reception. We also were not lucky since somebedy was snoring terribly the whole night. The staff for breakfast is very strict and not super friendly, especially one of them. Breakfast is very simple and repetitive every day. The pool was dirty during our stay. No back-up during load shedding.

Just an amazing place, unbelievable Travellers meeting point, every visit is unique and that's the point. The multi-Ethnicitist's meeting point. You could meet just about any national or international traveller here, Japanese, Jamaican, German, American, Canadian, Portuguese, Brazilian, South African, Namibian, Nicaraguain, Colombian, Ghanaian, The World is @ This point in time @ the Atlantic Point, not just any point or A point, The Atlantic Point and that's it.

Untidy Namibian girls made such a great place rather unpleasant, however the staff as a team of experts took care of it and there was nothing not to like thereafter..... The staff are just such an harmoniously synchronized team and Trust us, they will know exactly what to do for any unforseen eventuality.

Good and safe location 15 min walk from the fancy waterfront. There are shops and many eateries within 5 minutes walk. The hostel has their own bar. The private room with attached bath room had a good bed with enough pillows and blankets. The was plenty of hot water in the shower.

The wifi wasn't strong enough to cover my room. Sometimes it work for a short time before disconnecting. It was strong and fast in the common area. Towl and hand soap are not provided for private rooms. The included breakfast was two pieces of toast, small portion cereal and an orange. Just buy your own from the shop.

Great location. 10 mins to V&A Waterfront, Aquarium where red buses depart from and walkable distance to the sea via Greenpoint Park. Supermarket, coffee shops, restaurants, laundromat are over the corner. Beds are comfy & there is enough room to unpack. There is a storage for luggage but you need your own lock. Rooms are cleaned daily. Safety. I felt safe, room had an individual code to enter, there is also security guard at night. Silence after 10pm makes it a good place to rest without wild parties and noise. Big fridges allow to store a reasonable amount of food for longer stays. People. People staying in this hostel as well as staff were amazing! Hearing Afrikaans and so many african native languages was very interesting.

Black mold in the bathroom and on all outdoor furniture from plywood. No individual reading lamps, so if one person in the room wants to read, others sleep with light on. No washing machine and limited drying racks. Staff offers solution to that, yet having more drying space would be cool.

The beds are very comfortable- soft but firm. The kitchen is ver clean and there is heat in the room! (Helped bring winter and 7 degrees in am). Dorms are spacious and they have really handy cubbies and lockers to put things in, as well as sockets by each bed. Love that the bathroom is inside room but far enough away from beds.

You guys need a TV for the Rugby Hahahaah!!! I ended up going to Hudson’s pub just down the road. Super cool vibe and location of AB is really perfect to get around.

We stayed in the girls dorm. The one we were in was newer or at least recently renovated. The bunks were comfortable and sturdy and had USB ports for charging and a personal light. The room itself was nice and airy and there was good storage for items, both in lockers and with a shelf right by your bunk and personal light. The staff are very helpful. This location was an easy walk to all of our activities.

For an 8 girl dorm room, there needs to be more than 1 sink and 1 shower in the adjoining bathroom.
