The hotel is located right at the beginning of La Rambla Street and is conveniently close to the bus station for the aerobus, as well as many other tour companies' starting points. I really appreciate the hotel's quirky design and its proximity to many tourist attractions. Although I had heard many warnings about pickpockets and robberies in the area before my trip, I found that it wasn't as bad as I had feared. It's just important to stay alert and aware of your surroundings.

As some other reviewers pointed out, the division between the bathroom and the sleeping area is a transparent glass door. We taped a thin scarf onto the glass door to provide privacy (we brought the scarf and tape, especially for this purpose). The room is quite cramped compared to the US standards; we rearranged the furniture to make it work.

The staff were very kind and helpful!! They took our luggage up for us, had our room ready a little early, and even provided a map and highlighted places for us to go and see. They showed us to our room and showed us how everything worked, etc. The items in the fridge were free as well as some snacks which was VERY nice! They also helped us get a taxi when we were leaving. The room was very nice, comfortable and clean, and the wifi worked great. Loved having open windows and little balconies. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we would stay there again!

Would love a clothes steamer in the room. Especially helpful for travelers!

Location perfect. Staff (reception, bell boy, waiter/barman) all terrific people and the Doorman (Captain Sunshine) was the funniest, happiest, best sport we have ever come across. Alll of the folk were such a great advert for the hotel. We arrived at 8.30 a.m. were given a cava each to drink in the rooftop pool area and were able to check in at 9.20 a.m. FANTASTIC SERVICE

The Room was a tad dark with no natural light but a small thing for a 24 hours stay. Great bed, lots of extra comforts. Good bathroom space and facilities.

The hotel is beautiful! The staff was always friendly and helpful. The hotel is a block away from a big outdoor market. La Ramblas is out front. We walked everywhere, from our hotel.

We are in Europe, so the rooms are smaller than what we are used to. That's not going to change, just be prepared to be a little cramped especially if you have more than a carryon. I had breakfast there once and it was good, but expensive for what it is so we opted to find breakfast else.

Small boutique hotel meant we felt like the service was personalised and the staff knew who we were. Customer service was impeccable, helpful to navigate the city sights and always available. The pool on the terrace overlooking the city was perfect for an afternoon beverage. Complimentary mini bar daily and turn down service was an unexpected touch.

No tea in mini bar, but I’m sure if I had asked they would have made me one and brought it up in room service, without a problem at all.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very tastefully designed and felt luxurious. The breakfast was very good and a lovely start to the day. The rooftop terrace had a fabulous vibe in the evening for cocktails. It was very easy to walk to key tourist attractions, it was easy to get a taxi and the metro was straightforward.

I shared a room with my daughter and before we booked I checked the hotel website and TripAdvisor to check that the bathroom was private (i.e. enclosed). It looked like the separating door between the bedroom and bathroom was a mirror. Unfortunately when we arrived we found that the door was clear glass. (The shower and toilet were both in cubicles within the bathroom with partially frosted glass.) The reception staff were very understanding when I requested a single sheet to be hung over the door for privacy and the issue was solved. Also the toilets are unusually high (good for the elderly) and the toilet seats are uncomfortable.

Hotel was beautiful, really enjoyed the stay. Staff were great and room was always spotless.

Hotel is on a main road which is in a great location but comes at the cost of loud noise from the streets at night. Asked the staff to warm up the steam room to be used (advised us it would be a 30 minute wait), went down after 30 minutes and they told us they forgot to turn it on. Other than these issues, stay was great.

- Toilet's door is transparent glass (which is not acceptable in our culture). - Room size is small. - the room is missing many small items (that are normally available in 5* hotels), like the Iron, tooth brush, shaving tools, tea, water heater. - The room I got has only one internal window looking to hotel internal stairs. (most probably they have rooms with much better view)

We booked two rooms and stayed 6 nights and the staff and the entire team was fantastic. Very helpful and considerate. The rooms are well decorated and "typical" European sized rooms, which for some will be small. Although the rooftop bar is closed (like most hotels during late fall/winter), it's still open to bring your own bottle of wine and overlook the city during sunset. Only a small corner of the rooftop bar faces west, but you still get a fantastic view of the City. I read some of the reviews in regards to the noise, but the windows are double paned, and the entries are double doored. We had no issues, even with a bachelor party sharing the hotel or the busy street of La Rambla below. I love the location and have visited Barcelona a few times, staying in a 5-star hotel each occasion by the Harbor, Shopping District, and the heart of the Gothic Quarter. I'd probably pick Hotel Bagues over the other three due to the location as it's the center of it all. The Gothic Quarter is right there with it's shops, cafes, and bars. You can find a $15 bracelet, to a 15K original signed Miro lithograph. I love being by La Boqueria, my favorite food destination in the City, aside from a couple of Michelin restaurants. However, there are three very good Michelin restaurants around the corner. It's also convenient getting a taxi whenever you please. The hotel also arranged private transfer to Andorra---which was also fantastic service.

Nothing. The air conditioner did not work properly in one room for the first night, but the hotel upgraded the very next night for the duration. Travelers should keep in mind that you are staying in THE tourist area, so you can expect some street hustlers, etc. However, even with some late World Cup nights, we felt safe just using common sense. And the other luxury hotels have similar issues as well and can be difficult to get a taxi.

An excellent hotel with great facilities . All the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The breakfast was top class with a freshly made hot menu and an extensive cold buffet. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, great view from our 2 balcony room, spotlessly clean bathroom and plenty of hot water (bath robes a nice touch too) . The roof top bar has beautiful views and a great little plunge pool. I could easily spend a weekend just enjoying this space alone! The hotel itself is uniquely designed, I particularly loved the central spiral staircase and reception area. I would not stay anywhere else in Barcelona other than this hotel
