The hostel is really nice and the owners really cared about every detail. Everything is designed. Nice rooftop terrace is comfy and pleasant.
Sometimes the design goes against function. Old doors from rooms are not filtering noise from the coridor and other rooms, the curtains cannot be drawn because of the wooden sticks instead of normal curtains... But these are details...

The communal bathroom and WC were really clean and so was the kitchen. There were cleaners on hand to maintain the cleanliness regularly, which was positive. My room was also clean and smelt fresh and the shower worked really well. It was a peaceful stay and most of the guests were quiet and considerate, so no interrupted sleep! This was the first time I stayed in a hostel and it exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend.
A foldable desk would be helpful and maybe the option of brighter lighting.

Really cool, tiki style ho(s)tel. All of the rooms are private with a private bathroom, but you get the setup and perks of a social hostel. There's a rooftop, additional activities, common spaces, etc. Chill, fun and cozy vibe.
I dont think their reception works 24/7, and also, they were a bit slow to respond when messaging them on booking.com. Other than that, everything was great. The first thing i guess wasn't that big of a deal either, since they got our room ready for a slightly earlier check-in as soon as we showed up. That was cool.

My second year staying at Cactus Host. Ideal for independent travellers and also as a solo traveller it is nice to have the opportunity to meet others on the roof terrace for a chat whilst cooking in the communal kitchen etc. Good central location, perfect for the beach and also as a base for excursions and exploring further afield. Nice memory foam mattress for a comfortable sleep. Relaxed atmosphere and helpful staff.
Whilst the traditional tiles and doors are really beautiful there is not much soundproofing between rooms.

Staff were very friendly and accomoodating. The place was always clean and smelled good. There's two small kitchens, a rooftop and an items (ie. Beach towels, umbrella, swim stuff, books) that were free to be used and shared. The place was very close to the beach, restaurants and cafe. Close to the main bus station which was handy when traveling to other towns. Rooms were also clean and comfortable
Rooms were not soundproofed, you can sometimes hear snoring and people being loud at night or early morning. A little bit outdated, could do with some renovations but it was charming

This is one of THE best hostels I've ever stayed in (I've been across Europe, South East Asia, the UK and the USA). The room was great, staff were lovely and the whole place was spotless! It was cleaner than any other place we've stayed (including private rentals and hotels). I wish everywhere shared this standard of cleanliness! I liked the wooden, upcycled and natural theme. In addition, it was quiet and we felt safe and comfortable throughout our stay. The free bike hire was super helpful as allowed us to explore much more of the area. The location was perfect for getting to the beach and for exploring the city. Having access to washing machines and drying areas was also another bonus.
The weren't any surf boards to hire and we thought there would be as pictures on booking.com showed this. An oven in the kitchen would have been a bonus. We liked the fact that each room had a labelled box in the fridge. However the boxes were actually a little too big and so the fridge door didn't always close properly (leading to some food having to be thrown out).

Very close to the beach, surrounded by restaurants and several small supermarkets nearby. 5 mins walk from the airport bus service at Santa Catalina station. Good system in place for checking in after hours. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff helpful and knowledgeable about the local area. A collection of items to borrow for free. Useful kitchen with dedicated fridge space. Terrace provides an opportunity to chat with other guests which is handy for solo travellers. Relaxed and friendly place. Nice original tiles and doors.

Really good value for money, room was huge, nicely decorated, clean and had nice touches. Lots of free equipment to use such as snorkels, flippers etc. good location for walking to the beach and staff were very helpful
You could hear everyone in the rooms next to you especially hairdryers etc so I imagine they could hear the same for me.

Really good location – close to Las Canteras beach and Santa Catalina park. I really loved the rooftop, and the bed in one of the two rooms I stayed in was pretty comfy. Good value for money. Staff was friendly.
There was a lot of dust in the room – on the lamp, on top of the TV, and so on. The floor and bed were clean at least.

10! A perfect 10, there is no doubt about it! Everything about our stay was perfect starting from efficient and cute way of providing us with information how to check in (we arrived outside of reception hours). We loved the personalised touches (like the blackboard with our name on it). The room (and the place) exceeded our expectations! it was very spacious, super clean and fresh (the smell of fresh linen - I can still smell it!). The whole place is very well decorated. There is a lovely rooftop terrace, well equipped kitchens, free items for guests, bikes, towels. A lot of lovely touches which make the place exceptional. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall, it is a hostel but actually it feels like a boutique hotel. Next time we are in Gran Canaria we will definitely stay at Cactus! Keep up the excellent job guys!
