Fantastic location on the Porto del Sol with easy access to metro, and reasonable walks to both Palacio Real and the Prado. Great breakfast option in the attached restaurant for 13 euros. Nice hotel with friendly staff. Our room was comfortable with a view over the square. - which can be incredibly busy at times -- but the windows were pretty soundproof. Would certainly stay here again.

The location was perfect. Access was easy moving around the room and hotel.

No tea/coffee facility in the room . Travelled with a family member with mobility issues. Therefore can’t just quickly pop out for a tea/coffee. Not always convenient to have room service if you just need a cup of something through the night. I provided my mum with a kettle and tea and milk . There was a small fridge to store the milk.

Brilliant location right in the center of Madrid. Clean spacious room with air conditioning. There is some work going on at the hotel at the moment which does make some noise in the mornings, we had a problem with the water supply in our room on the second day which was resolved quickly and we were moved to another room just across the hall.

The room we were moved to was street facing which made it a little noisy in the evenings as it overlooked the square, this wasn't a problem for one night but might be something to consider for a longer stay. Not the fault of the hotel of course just due to the location.

Location great on Calle Arenal, right beside lively Puerta del Sol, with stores, restaurants, bakeries right there, a few steps from the lobby door. Room size was good for the price certainly, and nice breakfast to be had (nice price too). There was also a roomy lounge with many chairs and sofas available on the first floor beside the breakfast room, overlooking street, and it had a public access computer available. The lounge was quiet when i was there, good for reading or working.

Thin walls for our room. So we heard muffled conversations from the neighboring room one night for some minutes. It was not a terrible nuisance since neighbors were speaking at normal voice volume and not at a late hour disturbing sleep.

Front staff was friendly. When I requested a kettle, they advised me that I could get hot water at the cafe.

It's OK that one of the two lifts was protected for construction or transportation, but I think it would have been nice if there was a disclaimer. It was the first place I set foot in after checking in, so it was dark and a little scary. I went as the staff told me how to get to Goya's Pantheon, but I couldn't get there. At the very least, I would like you to know the information about the sightseeing spots listed in the guidebook. Information on the internet can be obtained even if you are not a local. It seems best to transfer at Opera and go to Principe station. (For your future reference)

Very hard to pick a fault with Hotel Europa. It's almost the perfect benchmark for what we want in a hotel.

I like how the room was set up with the 4 beds. Very comfortable. Loved to be able to open both balconies & get fresh air. Hotel Europa is in an excellent location central to everything I wanted to see; very easy to walk everywhere. Staff was attentive; was safe wasn’t working, the bellhop troubleshooted the issue and fixed (need the batteries to be replaced). Staff always greeted us when we left & came back to the hotel.

There was nothing I disliked about the property

the room is very spacious with a wonderful view of Puerta de Sol. It is Christmas period and there is a Christmas tree set up. There is light show ever night which you can see clearly from hotel's balcony. Receptionist speaks English and is friendly. Room make up every day.

We met 2 holidays in the week that we were there and Sol station was closed from 5th to 9th Dec, everyday from 6pm to 9pm. We had to take metro to one station before/after and walk back to Sol. Puerta de Sol is crowded every night so expect some noise which is bearable. There was crowd control every night as the place was packed. They do not give room slippers and there arent tissue boxes given. There is only 1 to 2 English channel i.e. no Fox or Disney channels in English

Great location, right in the center of Puerta del Sol. They have a cafe downstairs that serves breakfast. Close to restaurants, a metro station, and shopping. Staff was friendly. We were greeted by a bellboy who helped us with our luggage and explained details about the room. They stored our luggage for a few hours after we checked out. The wifi had a strong signal and decent speed, around 30 Mbps. I would consider staying here again.

Since it was a bit far from the nearest vehicular street, we had to walk 5-7 minutes with our luggage to the nearest taxi pickup point. Not a big deal, but it might be challenging for some who didn't pack light. The room was a bit cramped with two twin beds. Hallways were a bit messy due to ongoing renovations. Windows did not open up to a view.

Previous reviews and photos showed a nice 3 star hotel with clean relatively large rooms in a fantastic location. Spot on! Clean rooms, nice beds & good air con was lovely to return to on hot afternoons after touring the city's museums and parks. The rooms had sweet little balconies that looked out on lively streets or the main Plaza del Sol. Our room (409) was great for looking out over the side street. Shutters and good windows blocked out most music and happy conversations from the street below. Great bath tub/fixtures. Restaurants, museums, the Royal Palace were all within walking distance and the metro was close, too. Kind, helpful staff. 20 minute/30 euro taxi ride to airport for early flight.
