Interesting historic building in the centre of Galle Fort. Excellent food (although by SriLankan standards rather expensive!). Lovely room in old part of the building. Well located for visiting Galle Fort.
Some of the male waiters and front of house staff were rather surley, unfriendly and grumpy. We had got so used to being warmly greeted and treated in all the hotels we visited in Sri Lanka, it came as a bit of a surprise to be met by un-smiling staff who gave the appearance that the guests were an irritating annoyance. For example, since we had an early start to get to the airport we asked if it would be possible to have our breakfast at 07:15 (15 minutes earlier than the normal breakfast start time) we were told by a rather grumpy manager that this was impossible! NB my comments about the grumpiness of staff was not true of the front of house women, who were friendly and charming. Perhaps the male staff and managers could do with some hospitality training!?

Great little hotel inside the fort. Very well renovated into a modern, airy space. What we absolutely loved was that finally after staying in many hotels over the past three years, here is finally one staffed with ladies(!) not only in charge, but also in the service. What a rare sight and what a pleasant one. Nothing against male staff, but Sri Lanka's hotels are flooded with men. For a foreign female tourist, this just feels uncomfortable at times. Food was delicious too.

What a brilliant location - smack bang in the middle of the Fort precinct. We could walk everywhere including historic sites, restaurants, the beach and shopping. The Hotel itself was a stunning historical building made even more appealing by the staff and their level of service and attention to detail. The bar staff even went out of their way to get Soy Milk for a couple of us with lactose intolerances.
Whilst most hotels in the vicinity do not have a pool, Fort Printers did. One thing that could be improved is to clear a few tables after breakfast and replace them with banana lounges as the two lounges that are there permanently are not enough.

The location is ideal, right in the heart of the Fort. The interiors are very elegant and we loved our room which was spacious and clean. We loved the swimming pool in the courtyard. The restaurant is also very good and we had delicious cocktails and excellent breakfasts. I would particularly recommend the Sri Lankan breakfast.
On both evenings we stayed there (which were weekend evenings) we could hear loud, badly sung music from a neighbouring bar until 10pm. I know it's not the Fort Printers' fault but it was a shame. I'm not sure if this is a regular occurrence or it was for a special occasion. This might also be a consequence of its great location right in the heart of the Fort, which is a busy place.

The hotel itself was great. Lovely old heritage building and a good location from which to explore Galle Fort. Breakfast was nice and the room large and comfortable. The staff really made the difference though - they were fabulously helpful at all times and we especially appreciated them making showers available to us in the evening long after we checked out at noon and after we'd spent hours in the blazing sun and humidity before catching our transport back to Colombo. Forever grateful for that and a nice way to end our honeymoon.
Nothing that we can think of!

The Hotel is in the heart of Galle Fort which is a really pretty town with lots of small shops and great restaurants. The location is fantastic. Its an old hotel with a history but very nicely restored, its clean and stylish. The breakfast ist great. The staff was very nice.
The AC broke during the night, it spilled some water before it definetly broke. Staff tried to help but in the end we slept without AC. Its a complaint on high level but it was a little a downer because we woke up in the middle of the night becaue of the noise and the water from the breaking ac

This beautifully restored, quiet and understated boutique hotel felt like our very own, secret retreat right in the heart of the colonial fort. We were two men sharing a double room and the staff were personable and endlessly accommodating and made us feel very welcome. Fortunately, we got to experience both a heritage room and one of the more modern, contemporary Church St rooms. We found both unique in their own ways, from the dark, old-world atmosphere of the ‘Arts’ room, to the clean, spacious, polished concrete lines of the new Church St room. It was the subtle touches that made this stay so special, from being woken softly by the sound Billie Holiday echoing from a distant corner of the hotel, to lazing by the small but tranquil lap pool.
Nothing. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The hotel is located in what feels like the centre of Galle Fort. It is a beautiful old building and was a luxurious stay. The staff in particular were absolutely fantastic. We had a late flight out to finish our holiday and they were kind enough to let us use one of their unused rooms to freshen up and pack later in the day. This truly made our last day of holiday significantly less stressful. The meals at the hotel (we had breakfast and dinner) were also great. Their menus are not unnecessarily long like many places in the area and therefore you know the ingredients are fresh.

The building itself was lovely and the lobby, bar, restaurant and rooms were all decorated really tastefully with lovely furniture. The cocktail bar served brilliant cocktails - by far the best quality and variety of anywhere we had stayed in Sri Lanka. The food at the restaurant was fantastic quality and we had a really enjoyable meal there. The staff went the extra mile - I had a birthday while I was there and they noticed the card in our room and surprised us with flowers on the bed, a cake with a candle at breakfast and all the staff were wishing me a happy birthday as I walked around. The location is great for walking around Galle and it was easy to get a Tuk Tuk to Unawanatuna beach for a bit more nightlife
Nothing! It was the most expensive hotel we stayed in whilst in Sri Lanka but the quality of the food, drink, accommodation and service was very good.
