Everything. Perfect service, food and perfect room. It was much better then we expected. We totally recommend. Very well located in the middle of the fort. You can visit everything by foot in few minutes. A great breakfast, western and sri lankan as you wish. A very confortable room with very nice bed, perfectly cleaned and hot water. Good wifi. Free water if needed. A nice small hotel where you will feel welcomed and could relax. Thank you to all the team.

This was an outstanding boutique hotel- a block or two away from the main drag of Galle Fort, but that made it quieter. The rooms were clean and nice and the food was excellent. But what set this hotel apart from others was how helpful and kind everyone was. Everyone bent over backwards to accommodate anything you might need, from getting clothes laundered to giving us a to-go breakfast hours before their restaurant was officially open. Could not have been nicer. I would recommend the Yara Galle Fort to anyone.

A beautiful decorated boutique hotel in a good location away from the busy part of the fort but walkable all around. All the staff were very friendly and always happy to help with anything. It was good to see the hotel is making an effort to reduce the use of plastic - water bottles and toiletries. Sri Lankan breakfast was very filling and tasty.

If there was something I didn’t like, the room I was in was near the kitchen so I could hear most things also could hear the guests in the adjoining room clearly.

We chose to stay within the 'Fort ' area and were glad we did. Yara Galle Fort is located towards the top of the hill area inside the fort and is a few street away from the main action or restaurants and shops. Nothing in the fort area is far away, and it is a short walk to get to the main area ( which is a great place to wander around - particularly at night).The hotel is small and set in a traditional style building - although given how fresh and new the building is, I am guessing it has been rebuilt in a 'traditional' style. The rooms are well set up with a comfortable bed ( great linen) and couch, and all open onto an internal balcony. While I thought this might be a bit noisy - it was quite the opposite. With no real noise from the outside, and only a few rooms, we found our room ( which was one of the first rooms on the balcony) very quiet. A decent breakfast with the normal fare on offer (traditional or western). If you are visiting the area, I would definitely recommend staying within the fort. It is one of the few places we visited in Sri Lanka that has an eating/ shopping precinct, and the limited amount of vehicular traffic is great.

Small gripe and a first world problem. The shower was typical of so many in Sri Lanka and the pressure and temp were quire variable.

It is a lovely, colonial style boutique hotel within the fort. Nicely appointed rooms , comfortable bed, fridge and good bathroom ( nice body lotion!). Very convenient location for walking the walls and some interesting touristy gift shops.

The service was perfunctory but efficient- we certainly didn’t get the warm Sri Lankan welcome and there was no sign of the breakfast service staff after they delivered the hot elements. Breakfast was ok. Must have caught the hotel on an an off-day. The young lady on reception was very quiet and shy with minimal communication; didn’t feel welcome , just another tourist. Disappointing considering the absolutely lovely staff we have encountered elsewhere during our 3 weeks touring Sri Lanka.

The Yara Galle Fort hotel is a beautiful modestly scaled boutique courtyard hotel in the heart of the historic Fort district. The building has been sensitively upgraded with clean contemporary interior decor reflecting the towns historic Portuguese and Dutch heritage. Staff at the hotel attentive and provide a high degree of service. The rooms are well proportioned, clean and comfortable. We ate breakfast at the hotel which included eggs, sausages toast and fresh fruit and juice as well as tea or coffee. We will be pleased to recommend the Yara to friends in the future.

This is an excellent place for a short vacation. We visited as a party of 3 families (with kids) for 3 nights. The staff are some of the nicest people you are likely to encounter at any comparable hotel in the world. Everyone at the reception, restaurant and room service are genuinely caring of their guests and try to do what the can to make sure they give the best experience to people on holiday. The rooms are spacious, clean and have enough plug points. The bathrooms are big, have enough towels, and have got and cold water. The breakfast is EXCELLENT. Both the western and Sri Lankan options are fantastic and extremely well portioned. This alone is one of the top highlights of the hotel.

A few things they could tweak to improve : The plumbing in the shower in all the rooms is slightly flaky, and sometimes the geyser stops working. Second, the plug points could easily be made into universal points instead of local only. Overall, I would highly recommend staying here, simply for the lovely people who run this place, and the heritage value of the property, which is excellently maintained.

Rooms, staff, breakfast and location are all amazing and probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Bottled water, tea, coffee, etc, always restocked and room spotlessly clean.

It would have been nice to have been able to sit in the hotels' beautiful courtyard and have a glass of wine or two. I know they say you are welcome to bring in your own wine or beer, but finding it to take in is just extra hassle. The bar next door is great though and we spent our evenings there.

We spent 6 nights at the Yara Fort and it was above and beyond expectations. Not only in terms of the room we were provided (we're used to getting the tiny cupboard rooms, when booking through here) - we were astounded at the size of the room and the comfort of the bed (it wasn't hard!!!! and the pillows were so comfortable I didn't need my travel pillow - rare!) Rezvi Kamal looked after us so well during our stay, nothing was too much trouble and the man has an incredible memory, no wonder he's rushed off his feet, he's so good at his job. The Sri Lankan breakfasts were superb (yes, spicy!) - you must ask for the coconut pancakes! The staff were always so attentive to your needs. Room service was fantastic too. The aircon in the room was very VERY welcome - and worked a treat. It was such a relief coming back to the room after venturing out into the fort. The hotel is perfectly situated within short walking distances of everything inside the fort, but also far enough away from any noise or hustle and bustle.

Strength of wifi not great for streaming (or if you work online), but good enough for simple tourists. Shower was temperamental, but did the job! Walls not very soundproof.
