Very satisfied with the booking - Ita Thao takes a little while to get going in the morning so the good and varied hotel breakfast (a bento box with fruit, vegetables, boiled or steamed egg, mashed potato, and some sort of protein each day, plus toast/spreads, congee, and curry with rice in a buffet format, and coffee and milk tea on the side) was very helpful. (You tell the front desk the day before which of three various morning slots you would like to eat at - we never had an issue getting our preferred time). Our mountain view room on a high floor felt very spacious, had plenty of space to work at a desk, and the shower pressure and heat were very good even at the top of the building. Wifi also worked well in our experience. Staff were very friendly, making sure we could orient ourselves within the city and warning us to keep the relatively early closure of many restaurants in mind, and the location is excellent - steps from the night market, close to many bike rentals and the pier water activities, while also being quiet. We did not have a car so parking wasn't relevant to us, although I imagine it would be a bit challenging that close to the night market.

No real complaints! It might be nice eventually to have small safes in the rooms, and travelers in other situations may want to be mindful that double rooms seem to come with just one key, not two. For us neither of these was a real problem, we really enjoyed our stay.

Room was clean. We had a good size quadruple room, with a view of the lake but also overlooking the neighbour’s backyard. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom good size but would be considered small for some. Amenities in the room are standard. Breakfast - excellent. Bento box with vegetables, mashed potatoes, fruits and egg (steamed or hard boiled) with a piece of meat - different each day. Also on offer at the buffet, rice and Japanese (sweet) curry, either porridge or soup, bread and rolls, tea & coffee. Chinese tea available all day on in the breakfast/dining room. Location - excellent. Literally in the town centre, walking distance to the pier. Plenty of eateries. Staff are friendly and extremel helpful. Efficient and prompt and quick response. Tickets for the cruise on the lake available at reception.

very nice and helpful staff, rich and tasty breakfast, free parking (they even let us stay after check-out but we didn't use it eventually), the location was great (few steps from the lake on one side and the street with food and everything you need on the other side. the room was big, well lit and very clean, the bed was good and comfy and even the soap and shampoo were great. front desk answered our questions and suggested where to go and what to experience - very good experience in the cute Ita Thao in Sun Moon Lake

Generous and helpful staff. Big, very clean room with a comfy bed. Big shower with very good water pressure. Excellent AC. Plenty of horizontal space and enough outlets for device charging. Great breakfast in bento boxes plus other hot/cold foods on the breakfast island. In the afternoon, they put out tea and candy. The breakfast seating area can later be used for surfing or researching your next stop (would be rude to other guests to work there and take/make work phone calls). Great location is 1/2 block from where food stalls begin and 1 block from the pier. Highly recommended!

Not their fault, but Booking.com says they take credit cards but they only accept cash. Just be aware of this when you arrive… and you will have a great stay here!!

Clean and comfortable room with slippers, nice bathroom, and comfortable bed. Breakfast was filling, and staff were very responsive. Our room had no window, but there are great views within 5 minutes of the hotel’s door. A round trip ticket on the shuttle boat gave us passage to the hotel on one day with a return 2 days later, which was very convenient and cost effective. Hotel is within walking distance to ferries at the pier, the Ita Thao night market, and the Sun Moon Lake ropeway.

The walls are thin, admitting lots of noise throughout the night and early morning.

Location was good as the hotel was near Ita Thao shopping area - the main shopping area in Sun Moon Lake. The lady at the hotel reception was very helpful and patiently explained things to us even though our Chinese was not that great. It helps to know some basic Chinese when you visit Taiwan as restuarant menus, and a lot of signage is in Chinese. The boat ride on the lake was great!

Sun Moon Lake itself is a vast lake and the tourist attractions around it are quite a distance from one another. No trains operate around the area and the only transport is by foot, bus or taxi or boat.

The hotel is very well located, Ita Thao and the whole Sun moon lake area is stunningly beautiful. The room is extraordinarily spacious, very clean and well equipped. The bathroom is also big, with a spacious shower. We felt very comfortable. Breakfast is included - you get a bento box plus whatever you choose from the buffet. And the service is excellent. The host was especially lovely, attentive and helpful. If we ever come back to Sun moon lake we will definitely stay at Tai Hu Hotel again.

Did a last minute booking as my kids were car sick and had to change the itinerary at the last minute. But my card somehow was rejected during booking. But I was afraid it might be a scam and hence asked the hotel staff to verify. Hotel staff were flexible in not requiring a credit card booking ultimately. Hotel location is at the heart of the Ita Tao Pier, so good location if you don't mind not being at the main harbour, Shuishe Pier. Liked the breakfast too.

Hotel is abit on the older side, but not run down - is reflective in the pricing.

Staff very friendly, could speak English, location central and convenient access to the lake and mountain, breakfast delicious, all amenities, very clean, comfortable beds, fridge, towels. The TV set is even greeting you with your name. You could watch Taiwan travel information. The wall patterns in the shower were great. WIFI was fast. The free tea and cafe in the room also great.

There was no window. You could stumble on something on the floor near the desk. The chair for the desk was too small and low. The shower glass door did not close by slides open, I guess the installers didn't use a spirit level. The drawer of the desk had a slightly moldy smell when you open it. The fridge was a bit noisy, I needed earplugs to sleep.
