The staff, bed, room and environment are all great! No complaints up to 99.99%

.01% issue is the hesitancy to honor the 10% discount for those staying in the hostel. A 10% discount is included for all overnight guests for food and drink. However when you say, "I'm an overnight guest, please give me the discount" , it becomes a game of "new phone, who dis'?". Suddenly change from your payment of the bill becomes challenging for staff to find or takes many minutes to be returned, plus the obvious annoyance on staff faces. This all felt unwelcoming and eventually encouraged me to seek food from other establishments. Sometimes it's preferable to pay full price for full appreciation. Not a make-or-break deal but enough to note here in "didn't like". If the 10% discount is such a burden, don't bother offering it. Because it doesn't seem staff want to honor it.

I liked the staff they were friendly, although they had promised to get me transportation to the ferry and they didn't but it's okay I managed on my own. The place is pretty chill I just wish I had spent more time there to properly enjoy the activities as well. Some of the guests I met were really nice. The private room was good enough for 1 night. The shared bathrooms are very impractical because the showers are right next to the toilet and it's a small space... I did however really like the area of dar es salaam, it's called msasani: slipway (waterfront) and coco beach are nearby and are nice areas.

The Slow Leopard is a great spot in the madness of Dar. The rooms are clean and have air conditioning which is lovely. The common lounge is comfortable with a nice garden and cats. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They make a good coffee and serve a cold beer. They will help you navigate the city, and help you with details for your next destination, even finding hidden bus stops and a taxi to get you there!! Thanks guys!

This hostel is very suitable for backpackers, the bed was comfortable, good breakfast options that are included in the price. Very good restaurant with nice and tasty options for snacks, lunch and dinner, at night they offer some party with a good music where you can meet new people. Beach is close by.

I didn't like the spray they spread in the rooms to help keep mosquitoes away, was very strong and could breathe in the room. The bathrooms are very small and not well cleaned. There are no hangers or a place to hang clothes while you shower. And the noise of the bar after midnight is high, very hard to sleep. So if you are not into parties, maybe this place is not for you.

The staff at this hostel were absolutely fantastic. Everyone at the bar/restaurant through management was wonderful and helpful. I needed some guidance in arranging some medical attention before I checked in and they were very responsive over email and pointed me in the right direction and were so welcoming once I arrived. Good food and drinks and a nice vibe at the bar too.

I was in the top bunk in a dorm room and it was so incredibly hot. The hostel obviously can't control the weather, and there was air con running, but the air con did not seem to do much as the beds were more like pods set into the walls rather than traditional bunk beds and the windows did not close to allow the room to properly cool down. It made sleeping very difficult. Fans running for air circulation may have been more helpful. I would absolutely stay here again but would try to book further in advance and get a private room, or at least a lower bunk.

The entire atmosphere is a peaceful Zen hippie decor vibe. Sofas, pillows and plants. The staff was amazing. The lady manager helped me with my bags and helped me communicate fair payment with my taxi. Harriet smiles constantly and makes sure to take your order as soon as you sit down. The food is delicious like a good quality restaurant and drinks are strong. Try a Lazy Dog I think it's called. DJ on Friday nights turns into a house party. At midnight it's so quiet you can hear a pin drop.

The place and the vibe is amazing. I love this place! It's not my first time being here and I'll be back for sure. The staff is kind and good breakfast. Also they serve food and very good quality

On Fridays they get a DJ and a party is happening at the place. If you're on vacations and you're in the mood it's gonna be perfect. In my case, I was going to drive for a long trip having to woke up at 6 am and that's why a chose a private room but the music was too loud until 12am. Important information if your plan is to rest

A beautiful, friendly place! The communal dorms are clean and large the courtyard is beautiful and provides the perfect opportunity for interaction with the other guests. The bathrooms are clean and there is good water pressure in the showers. As a solo traveling woman I felt safe the whole time. The hostel staff is extremely friendly, caring and helpful. They provided me with all information about my further travelling and helped me organize the bus trip to the next city. Diana and the boss himself were able to give me advice, find the exact times and bus connections for me and even made sure that I was brought safely to the right long distance bus by the tuktuk (Bajaji) driver. I had a wonderful 3 days stay at the Slow Leopard and can only recommend the accommodation to anyone, especially women traveling alone. (by the way: if you want to lock your valuables in the locker of the communal dormitory you have to bring a lock yourself... if you don't have one, there are locks at the small "kiosk" around the corner to the right ;) )

Great atmosphere, close to everything in Masaki, easy access to ferry, train, airport (all about 30-45 mins depending on traffic). Morning staff especially awesome. Much love to them and their hard work. The recent remodel, replacement of ACs were all the place needed to be an even better deal. Nice work everyone.

Evening staff not especially warm, occasionally standoffish. Usually just one individual however.

The location was great 2 minute walk from Slipway waterfront. The surroundings and common spaces were very relaxing and with a good ambience. But most importantly, the hostel staff and owner were very pleasant & helpful throughout my stay, along with a big and very tasty breakfast included in the room price.

I have booked for a private room that was located on the first floor, there was a shared bathroom outside (that could be used by 2 other private rooms on the same floor) the space was very small and not clean at all. However the shared toilets and showers on the ground floor i tried the next day ( outside the big dorm room) where clean and spacious. Also the pictures on booking are a bit misleading as it was also not stated clearly that the double room has a shared bathroom ( like the triple room / so this might be easily misunderstood! )
