Love this property and the staff are always friendly. Having had many a special occasion here, I can never see past staying here whenever I am looking for a hotel in the city and despite always leaving a little sorry it’s not as good as it should be, I will always return as a faithful friend hoping next time it will be better.

Unfortunately the room is just not worth the price we paid. We stayed in the newer part of the hotel this time, but the rooms are looking tired already. Sockets/light switches are coming away from the wall and the door handle is also coming away in the bathroom. Also, we decided to treat ourselves to a stay in the suite celebrating an occasion and hoped to relax and enjoy some room service, but the options are still the same from when they opened their doors and not worth the price for the calibre of the hotel. It’s a shame as I always expect more from this magnificent hotel.

Room had everything I needed with nice extra touches to welcome me to Aberdeen. Coffee maker worked great and the coffee chosen was tasty. The bed was super comfy. Tv was a great size. Small things like the shower controls being out of the way of the water as it fell made getting the right shower temp before heading in really easy and convenient. I was able to get up, out and travel about with comfort and convenience while enjoying the very well decorated and appointed room.

If i could have traded the bathtub for a standing shower it would have been preferred but its a minor thing. Perhaps the confusing layout of the hotel and the cramped parking could be a negative but that is all due to the buildings unique herritage so in the end I was fine with it.

The staff really make this hotel. It is very well presented and decorated but the staff are exceptional. I felt almost bad for staying at such a nice hotel with a five month old for fear of disturbing the other guests but baby wasn’t a bother and the staff were so accommodating. I wish I got his name but the Welsh bar man who was working the evenings we were dining really made a difference to our experience. Asked me what I liked to drink and made me a mocktail off menu since I’m breastfeeding, made sure the highchair was doubly clean and sanitised before we got it and staff communicated well between courses if any delays etc. We were never left long without a drink or waiting too long between courses and the food was fantastic. The subtle classical/instrumental background music makes for a lovely experience too. It’s not a loud place to eat. The room was really spacious and the bed was the best hotel bed I’ve had. I prefer a firmer mattress and pillows but every hotel pillow I’ve had on the firm side has no give so it remains extremely high to sleep on. These were perfect. The duvet despite being thicker did not make me overly hot, which I get easily. Was a very comfortable night sleep.

Our room (Residence) had an exceptional creaky floor and a fair few dusty cobwebs. Was nice decor wise, but maybe a little dark. Our shower does not accommodate anyone above 5’10” with room to lather. Since it is a rainfall shower head coming out of the ceiling and a raised tray, the gap between the two is 6’2”. Guess my husband’s height? As hilarious as it was seeing him try to shower, I don’t think he was overly comfortable. Our coffee machine didn’t work.

The hotel was as expected but the room exceeded our expectations. Wonderful view and space and it was very comfortable. Staff were exceptionally friendly, and nothing was too much. The only slight on or stay was that at breakfast my partner was eating a bagle and found half way through, that it was "past its best". We reported this to staff who were very apologetic. It is not something that I would expect from a 5* hotel. However, It was a fantastic stay and the rest of the food at Breakfast was excellent.

Perhaps the freshness of the bakery products. Perhaps we were unlucky, but like I say, not something I would expect from a hotel of this stature.

All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. Anna went beyond that and helped us on 2 occasions & deserves a special mention. It's a large hotel with parking at the rear (we had a 6 metre long campervan). Our room was spacious and comfortable and the hotel is very stylish. We had a comfortable, quiet night's sleep. We didn't use the bar/dining area however saw them and they were beautiful & looked very inviting.

The breakfast waitress needed some more training. She didn't tell us about the chef's station where omlettes can be ordered (we saw this after we had eaten). She also failed to notice the coffee machine stopped working as it needed emptying and the area for breads ran out of plates twice that morning without her noticing that.

Overall: Great location in the centre of Aberdeen. Lots of choices for different room types. Decent on-site restaurants. Room Quality & Service: Very spacious room with a massive bathroom and a nice sitting area. Good amount of natural light. Not the comfiest sofa but the bed was firm and comfortable. Straight forward decor. Check-in was pleasant, wait staff in the restaurant were friendly. Facilities & Location: Quiet area of Aberdeen but v close to shops by bus / on foot if you’re up for a walk. Good selection of restaurants on site. Value for Money: Good value for money. A lot of space for the price and a good comfy hub if you’re staying in Aberdeen for any length of time.

We had dinner at the Chester previously and decided to stay as we spend a lot of time in Aberdeen . It’s a lovely hotel with amazing art work across the hotel . The Room was very nice . We were in a suite which was comfortable and the bed was also. I also like that there is connectivity and you do not need to leave the hotel to get wet . Plus parking is good. Location is great, close to things and property is set back and quiet as windows are double glazed with nice trees. Windows should all open especially when the days are warm ( not many lol ). But the bathroom window should open for ventilation, the one in the living space opened . The free mini bar was quite exceptional including two generously size gins!!

I think the hotel has some staffing issues as it can take a while to get service in the various bars and restaurants areas in the property. We also noticed this when we dined there previously it was the person at the bar, taking orders bring food etc . Not ideal . Often only one staff member is present doing everything . The reception staff were all nice with one very knowledgeable about the art work .

Generous sized comfortable and quiet room. Very good breakfast served in a pleasant area. Restaurant staff were very welcoming.

We had to travel up and down a series of steps to get to our room. If we had been advised this at check-in, we would have taken a small bag to the room and then one of us could have brought the rest of the luggage to a side door which the other could have opened from inside. Then there would have been only one small set of steps to negotiate. Their reception area was very small so if guests are waiting for someone or something it can feel crowded. If you are meeting friends best to use the bar area in the building next door even if you are not eating or drinking.

We loved staying here for four nights while visiting Aberdeen. There is so much to like about this somewhat higgledy-piggledy hotel spread across several houses in an appealing Aberdeen neighbourhood. Plenty of carparking at the rear of the hotel, attractive decor, a large comfortable bed, well set up bathrooms with a good shower and quality toiletries. Nespresso coffee machine, a desk for working at and great breakfasts.. All the usuals - cooked items, granola, fruit, fish and cheese, pastries, bagels and toast, and some Scottish specialities. I got to try butteries! The staff in the hotel are great; young ones and those with more experience all deliver a consistent experience, a tribute to the training and culture here.

At times it was the very quietest of places, but there were times when the noise from other rooms was a problem. We must have had the same guests in the room above us all the time as their alarm woke us each morning just after 6am and then, for some reason, they walked around the room continuously (creak, creak) until 7.30am so there was no chance of us going back to sleep. Not much the hotel can do about this, and the noisy guests in the next room were only there one night, so it is just luck of the draw. There seem to be quite a few groups staying here to play golf and they are early risers. And on our final day there was no hot water (cold showers for us - brrrr) - apologetic staff but no offer of an acknowledgement of compensation in any form, which was a bit disappointing.

The hotel is very clean and staff really friendly, a 29 min walk and your in the cuty centre buses every 15-20 mins right outside hotel. Drinks menu good. We never had an evening meal so cant comment

I think with the price and the fact its a 4 star breakfast could be improves the hot buffet was fine and cold was excellent but tea coffee and toast should be taken to the table nothing worse than making your own toast. I did like the coffee though it was nice out of machine
