First must say all staff bar none were superb, what ever you needed help with they were there to help in there friendly homely manner which to me was just them being them, fantastic. Breakfast was freshly cooked, you might have to wait for it but I’d rather wait for a freshly cooked meal than have reheated food 🤷♂️ We also had a Sunday lunch at the restaurant which yet again was lovely and at a very reasonable price. The rooms you see advertised are what you get, very clean and comfortable. Only down thing for us was waiting for hot water to have a shower but come on this is the same in many a hotel and isn’t a major problem. I would definitely recommend this hotel to one and all.
Only thing was not having hot water in the early evening for a shower but 25 minutes later we had it so no major worries

Friendly staff team, nice beer garden, Breakfast- great choice and freshly cooked, nice coffee Had one evening meal in the restaurant, again cooked to perfection. Lovely big room, fan provided which was handy as the sun was shining 😎
I have a small assistance dog and understand the hotel is not normally dog friendly. I found it embarrassing on the second morning at breakfast when the male staff member serving us repeatedly told me’dogs are not allowed’ After explaining I had permission and had stayed for two nights and was due to check out, he said ‘for future reference dogs can’t stay here’ I didn’t want to explain my situation in front of other guests/ members of the public.

A short walk from the main bus station, located directly on the high street with numerous shops and restaurants. Near the Castle and other points of interest. Friendly and helpful staff. A good sized and well set up room.
It's an older property so be prepared for uneven stairs and sloping floors. My room was both directly above the restaurant/bar and the high street, so there was noise and activity late into the night.

The room was very comfortable. I like the individual heating so you could have it just as warm as was comfortable. The bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were very kind and helpful. Dinner in the restaurant downstairs was an excellent and breakfast freshly cooked none of these stay warm under the lamp. We also like the quaint traditional style of the building full of character. The hotel is in the high street in the centre of town but as it is pedestrian there was no car noise and everything was very convenient.
The weather by can’t fix that!

Original old pub and hotel with popular restaurant Regency59 offering both Welsh dishes and Nepalese food. Our room was accessible through the pub and up a flight of stairs which can be a challenge with heavy luggage as there is no lift. Our bags were taken up for us and we managed to drag them down. I am sure if we had asked we would have received help. The staff were all friendly and went out of their way to make the start to our holiday special. They went above and beyond when I dropped my credit card wallet in the taxi they had organised to take us to the station for the next phase of our trip. Unable to contact us by phone they sent a message through booking.com alerting us and we were able to get back to Abergavenny and the driver from Terry’s Taxis met us at the station three hours later and kindly returned the wallet all safe and sound. The hotel is so handy to all the places of interest in Abergavenny, next door to the the old markets which operate four days a week and lots of coffee shops and restaurants to meet all needs. Loved exploring the winding streets and capturing wonderful streetscapes. Don’t miss St Mary’s Priory Church and the Tithe Barn next door with it’s wonderful tapestry made by the local community depicting a 1000years of Abergavenny history.
No lift for this elderly traveller but it would ruin the charm of hotel - so just be aware.

Fab location right where I needed it. Comfy bed, spacious room I booked a year ahead as a double but by time I arrived for my stay it had been converted to a superior single but still had more than enough space for 2 people. Lovely and clean, toiletries provided Wouldn't hesitate to stay again
Friday night on the high street meant lots of noise from drinkers (loud music and singing mostly) until the pub closed so disturbed sleep when I had to be up at 4am but that's more a me problem than a normal person problem! Noise was all done before midnight An old building meant floors are uneven which could be a problem for some No real complaints!

Great breakfast, staff very helpful and friendly, great location
I googled dog friendly hotels and this came up. I thought I'd booked a dog friendly room and even sent a follow up communication form to check it included a dog. I got a reply saying your request has been granted. On the day we arrived I said our dog was looked after so don't need dog friendly room now to be told they don't accept dogs other than the bar. This wasn't clear on booking think this needs to be made clear on website and booking

The hotel was really clean and had everything you need for a short stay. It was super cosy and warm which was lovely as it was such a cold weekend! Qe had curry in their restaurant downstairs which was one of the best curries we’ve both had. We had breakfast included and it was really delicious with generous portion sizes. We also spent the evening in the pub underneath the hotel which was also great fun. We liked everything about this hotel and couldn’t recommend it enough!

A very comfortable room with everything I needed. Excellent choice at breakfast. The location is brilliant for exploring the town. I was really impressed by the helpfulness of ALL the staff who were very friendly and happy to assist me.
The toilets in the bar were not very nice and outside the back wall was rubbish and discarded trolleys, It was very hot and I couldn't open my window. The TV was on a large unit which made it difficult to get to the window side of the bed and difficult to see the TV. The shower doors would not close properly. I found the hotel expensive but no different from other accommodation in the area.

The lovely staff went out of their way to find me a room on the first floor. They were all so helpful and welcoming. The room was comfy and fresh and the breakfast couldn’t have been nicer. Thank you so much!
I had to travel at the weekend and stayed on a Saturday night. I’d say if you want a quieter night, go midweek, but that’s obvious really and it was all very good natured, a band and folks enjoying themselves…
