The simplicity and excellent quality of the lodge I stayed in. Just superb. The hosts were just so friendly and accommodating. Would definitely return to the same Lodge. The honesty bar was a brilliant concept. The private outdoor terrace was brilliant.

Minor suggestions. The spot lighting in the lounge/kitchen was far too bright. Never used once I had seen the effect. Needs far more subtle/ambience lighting to create a more inviting environment. With a glass of wine you can then sit in the lounge with soft lighting. Much better experience. A casual table in the room. I brought in the patio one so fine. Definitely put Kitchen Roll in place. Such a simple and useful product!

Gail and Tan lovely people friendly funny and couldn’t do enough for us. Arrived early for a funeral and was worrying about early check in, getting changed etc. Gail not only let us check in 3 hours early, but also upgraded us for free as well. There was a bit of a wait for taxis so Gail give us a lift her self to the funeral. Then a lovely breakfast delivered to the room the next morning. Lovely people lovely hotel in a lovely part of the world. 10 out of 10 for everything. Will definitely be staying again

The only thing to dislike is that it’s so far away from home or we’d be there more often ha

This is top end of a B&B experience!!! We were only there for one night…what a shame. I felt this was a real treat. And Gail was a super host. As it happened we were upgraded to The Cwtch, a self contained unit set just behind the main house. This was very comfortable and had all the main facilities should we have wanted to prepare a light meal for ourselves. We didn’t see the guest rooms in the main house, but we did have our breakfast there. One thing to mention was that this was upstairs, not on the ground floor. There may be alternative arrangements for anyone unable to manage the stairs. But it made no difference to us. Breakfast was amazing!! Examples…gorgeous yogurt and fresh fruit, the best meusli, very fresh eggs and a wonderful full cooked English breakfast. There were plenty of other options too. In the main house is a lovely sitting room where we could have relaxed, & there were drinks etc with an honesty box. We will definitely return for a longer stay in the future.

There was nothing not to like at Ty Llew. We loved it there.

This is a fabulous little guesthouse in the most stunning building. We were in Room 3 and everything was immaculate. It truly is just peace and quiet. Breakfast is fab and plentiful but not great if you like a lie in as it finishes at 9am, but was fine for us. The lady who was managing the place while the owner was away was really really accommodating and so friendly!

The only downside for us personally was due to the nature of the building if a guest in another room is banging or coming in late etc you can hear every noise. Was only an issue the second night. Not the worst but could be better with soft close doors.

The personal care that I received ... special breakfast made for me, a lift to the bus station, and a few clothes laundered without a fee plus very stimulating conversation with the owner made this stay most memorable... The room while small was very comfortable and clean and it was sound proofed so I had 2 nights of good sleep. This is a true bed and breakfast experience , like being in someone's home with home cooked food. And personal contact. It was also good value.

I have very little to find fault with. The only thing is perhaps the location which is not in the center of town. It is at least a 10 minute walk to restaurants...

Ty Llew Lodge feels more like a boutique hotel than a B&B. There is a guest lounge with an honesty bar and you can sit in comfort reading your book listening to music. The room was spotlessly clean with a great shower and comfy bed. The breakfast was gorgeous and service was superb. Gail was really welcoming and shared interesting local stories and history, which made us feel connected to the area. The accommodation is in really quiet residential area and only a short stroll from the high street with its great range of shops and restaurants/pubs, and within easy access of the mountains.

Wish we could have stayed longer.

I usually stay at The Angel Hotel when I'm in Abergavenny but decided to try somewhere new. I'm so glad I did because this place is wonderful and is definitely where I'll be staying from now on. Gail is super welcoming and friendly and the rooms - indeed the whole b and b - are spotlessly clean and comfortable. I particularly liked the cosy sitting room with an honesty bar. Breakfast was amazingly good. Lots of choice and freshly cooked to order. The best breakfast I've had in a hotel in a looooooong time. I'm really looking forward to my next Aber, Ty Llew Lodge visit :)

Loved the ambience created in this quaint Lodge by the owner Gail who is a warm and welcoming host .. I saw her twice during a 4 n8ghtvsyay and did not meet another member of staff .. my room was impeccably cleaned each day .. most comfortable bed in a quiet location which is just a 10 minute walk into the town centre

Tea and coffee facilities available but no milk available by 3rd and 4th day despite staff servicing the room daily .. was frustrating to come back to after a long day and having to go back out for milk

Great view, great part of Wales, great history, great welcome, thanks Gail. Loved Abergavenny and the hills, even having to double back with your forgotten room key was quite funny

Well I like a good hot soak in a bath, but people seem to prefer showers nowadays, muddling around with taps and temperatures and water that's not really needed coming in all directions - no thanks to Booking.com that every place thinks it has to be the same as the next one

Such a great welcome from Gail the hostess and her team, they are all so warm and friendly. Lovely room with a window looking out into a beautiful big willow tree. The location was perfect up above the town, quiet but only a short walk to the centre. Breakfasts were amazing! Lots of choice and I really enjoyed all the fruit, and on one day delicious medjool dates. A range of cooked breakfasts including a couple of vegetarian options. Nothing seemed too much to ask, for instance there was no problem when I asked for oatmilk instead of dairy.

Everything was perfect, so there was nothing I didn’t like!
