Room was cosy and single bed was comfy, perfect for solo travellers like me. Breakfasts were delicious as there was plenty of selection, compliments to the chef. I must return in the future. Matthew was an excellent host during my stay, very friendly and gave excellent information and advise on walks in the area, also if you need any extra towels room cleaning etc you can ask him in the morning. Location was excellent, a 5 minute walk and your into the shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants or alternatively you can walk 10 mins in the opposite direction and you'll ve at the pier.
Due to the room location and the sloping roof, It was tricky to shower without banging your head on the ceiling. Car park is tight but you can still maneuver your car into a space.

I loved EVERYTHING about staying here. The hosts Matt and Lucy made sure my stay was perfect - I stayed in a single bed room which had a gorgeous view and so well appointed. Room size was perfect with room for my suitcase to stay open - very comfortable bed! A lovely decent sized bathroom with full sized bath. Everything was immaculate. The breakfast was gorgeous. Wonderful range of individually jarred fresh fruit and home made muesli followed by selection of hot breakfast made to order. Love the actual location - I think Ambleside is THE perfect base to stay in the Lake District. Great walks that are easily accessible - awesome range of places to eat

Very welcoming on arrival. At Breakfast you are Spoilt for choice, delicious, and host really ensures you have all you need and that everything is ok. Super friendly hosts, really knowledgeable of local area and offering recommendations where appropriate. Wonderful selections of coffees/teas in room with added bonus of biscuits. Room was very comfortable, could even log on to Netflix or prime.!! Spacious bathroom with the most loveliest of toiletries available. Elder grove was in a great location so easy to get about. I will definitely stay again, staying at elder grove was relaxing and covered all needs for a stay.

Loved this charming, quirky hotel - the owners were very nice and I enjoyed Matt's witty banter. The outside of the house was just as beautiful as the view we had from our room. The room was very comfortable: large bed, nice bathroom with all the amenities we were hoping for. In addition, we enjoyed a delicious home cooked breakfast in the morning. The hotel is located in the center of Ambleside, and we started our hike from there - no need to take the car (which we could conveniently leave in the parking).

Really nice B&B, festively decorated & a great location for exploring the Lakes. Very handy car park on site. The owners are lovely, chatty & very knowledgeable of walks & pubs around Ambleside & beyond. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. The room was a clean, comfortable, good size with a bath & well equipped for beverages. It was on the top floor so a bit of stamina needed after a day of walking. The only negative is the walls are a little thin. Having settled after a long car journey, the adjoining room resident decided a singing session was needed so treated the top floor to half an hour of unadulterated crooning! I confess to turning the tv on with the volume up after about 10 minutes!

A friendly welcome upon arriving. Close to all amenities in the village. Warm, clean room with a great view to Loughrigg. Several lounge areas with comfy seats. Superb breakfast. Free carparking. I really like how they support other local businesses in the running of the B&B (e.g. Garside butchers, Pure Lakes toiletries, etc.).
The shower is the only thing I'd mention. It was the angle of the roof, it is integral to the shower, so it was a bit awkward for me.

Car park. Parking in the lakes is a nightmare. So grateful for that luxury. Breakfast was very good. Service was really good, friendly and happy to share information of local highlight etc.
Breakfast window only being available for 1 hour. Nowhere to sit outside with a glass of wine and relax. Would have preferred a fridge in our room. Elder Grove is a bit on the tired side. Expensive...however the lakes is renowned for being ridiculously priced. Finally I would return to Elder Grove but not at peak season. Our idilic ideas of visiting different locations were dashed because we couldn't get parked anywhere. Waste of time. Cumbria need to address the parking discs/app parking/card paying machines and disabled parking and more parking in general.

Great location close to town centre, near cafes, pubs, shops etc. Lovely room, excellent breakfast, friendly & helpful hosts. Mini fridge in lounge with drink selection & fresh milk. Selection of walks & maps in lounge available to borrow.
The front rooms overlook the road which is noisy at times if the windows are open, (but quiet overnight & when the windows are closed.)

Amazing experience. Breakfast with local sourced products, next to Ambleside pier, main village bus stop, hiking trails all around, easy parking on site and nearby restaurants. We were pleased with this B&B and will easily book it again if in Lake District.
We got back to the hotel earlier after a hiking and decided to have shower around 2PM, but we struggled with the hot water on this day. Once I spoke with their staff, they were surprised and said they would look into the issue, which they believe to be related to the water pump. Since it was something that happened only 1 day (out of 4), I believe issues happen and we didn't come across it again.

Ideally situated to explore Ambleside , parking included and very clean comfortable room. As we had a room at the front I expected some road noise but it was very quiet at night. Excellent breakfast and lovely bar within the hotel for a nightcap. Would definitely stay here again.
Nothing ,but be aware that there is no lift for anyone who has mobility issues if not on ground floor.
