I cannot praise this hotel highly enough! Arthur, the Manager, made us feel very welcome and kindly upgraded our room and included breakfast without our asking. The room which he allocated us was in the modern annex and was spacious, comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast takes the form of a self-service, cold buffet and there is everything that one could reasonably wish for from cereals, bread (toaster), croissants, yogurt, fresh fruit, ham, cheese ..... The hotel is located along the Abbey Road - a green, leafy and pleasant area - which means that access to the A590 and north or the docks/Walney Island are equally easy and convenient. The spectacular ruins of Furness Abbey are only a short drive away. The private, safe car park is huge and the hotel's wi-fi is amazingly quick and reliable.

Nothing! Great stay!

Value for money. Best in barrow we could find, short walk/bus from the centre. Quiet , huge breakfast area with self service basic breakfast. Comfortable beds , clean , warm. Plenty of character in the main house.

Bin in the room not emptied. We were told this is because it’s a HMO Status. That’s House in Multiple Occupation where the objective is to have long term guests who do the basic cooking and cleaning themselves. We weren’t bothered about this , we just treated it like an overnight hotel stay which was fine by the owner. The fact that we had to empty our own bin was not a problem.

A hotel with lot of character. Old fashioned but very charming. Aurther was super professional and helpful. We got the family room which was large. The bathroom was modern. Water pressure great! Tea coffee in the room. In morning there was light breakfast with cereals, milk, juices, toast yogurt etc. the dining area was huge with bright light. If I were a writer I would have chosen this quiet hotel for a longer lovely stay. That sums it up!

Just need to be mindful that stairs are involved in case you have heavy luggage. Not fault of the hotel.

Immaculate room in the annexe, large comfortable room with modern en-suite and walk-in shower. Decent quality TV and free fast wifi. The bed was comfortable, and a small table and chair are provided should you wish to eat in your room. Iron, ironing board & hairdryer in room. Tea and coffee + kettle. Ample car parking and help yourself breakfast (cereal, pastries, toast, fruit, tea, coffee...) provided - was available at 5:20 am when I was setting off for work. Unbelievable value for money.

Nothing to dislike

The hotel is located in a lovely quiet area and although it is not right in the town centre, it's on the main bus route into the town with a bus stop just across the road. There is also ample parking at the back of the hotel, if traveling by car or motorbike. The room was clean and comfortable, the continental breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice of cereal and pastries. I only stayed for one night but I plan to visit the Barrow again and explore the area. I will be more than happy to stay at The Chetwynde again.

The building was lovely with lots of character,we had the suite and loved staying there and the views of the garden and trees where lovely. We travelled by motorcycle and there was plenty of off road parking and I felt very safe leaving my bike there. The owner greeted us with a smile and was very friendly and we have no hesitation on staying again ❤we both slept really well as the four poster bed was super comfy and there wasn't a sound all night .

Nothing to dislike from us.

We stopped in the suit it was comfy clean and spacious. The breakfast is continental and fridges are stocked with fresh produce daily. There is different types of teas and coffee, orange juice, apple juice, and milk and I even noticed oat milk in the fridge this morning. There are fresh yoghurts fruit, ham and cheese and a selection of bread. The staff aimed to please and they did with their kindness and accommodating manner.

Beautiful room, plenty of space, self service breakfast, spacious bath and shower, kitchens in the floor available to use with all the equipments. We were upgraded to a room next to kitchen when we requested to use a fridge during our stay. Arthur, The manager was amazing with providing us the facilities we requested for and during the stay. Definitely coming back again at some point in the future...

The rooms were lovely , spotlessly clean and plenty of space. A few bits missing ( e.g. tea spoons ), but got this from the staff. A real pleasure after spending a few days in a Travelodge. The continental breakfast was a surprise, but really nice. Will definitely stay again if in the area.

Nothing really my granddaughter hates the giant spider in the room, LOL
