From beginning to end, our stay was perfect. The staff were friendly and helpful. Check-in was easy. Supper was great... and filling. Sitting in the beautiful and peaceful garden was a joy and there was a lovely country footpath behind the car park. The room was comfortable and large. Stunning historical features, comfy bed and hot water for the shower and bath. Breakfast was a lovely experience as well as great food. A big shout out to housekeeping, which we did not ask for, but found diligent. Everything was kept clean and restocked.
We stayed four nights and could not find any downsides our whole stay.

Plenty of space in car park. Interesting garden. Staff, without exception, helpful and friendly- and managed to keep it up throughout our 4 day stay! Excellent food, most including beautiful steak, sourced from a local farm. Really enjoyed having dishes on the menu that were not the standard hotel fare, particularly the sea bass dish. It has history and is mentioned, along with Clovelly, by Susan Coolidge in her book “In the High Valley” published in 1891 after touring the UK in the 1870s
The access to the car park is single lane and relies on everyone driving slowly but it is quite tricky turning off from the busy main road with impatient traffic behind you.

Have stayed at the Hoops Inn several times and are always wonderful stays, this one included. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. We asked if we could check in early the day before as our friends changed the plans, and The Hoops got our room sorted out for us in time. And the breakfast is wonderful too. We definitely would recommend a stay here, and will return for another stay soon.
The only problem we had was the showers' power was a little weak, but we guessed it could be everyone was showering at the same time, as everyone was down for breakfast at the same time.

Simply fantastic brekky, and the previous evening whilst supping a few pints of their very well kept real ale observed food arriving at guests table and this also looked of very good quality, just wish I'd been hungry! The Hoops sits in lovely countryside, although actually being on the A39, quite close to the coast, a short walk out the back of the car park and you're overlooking The Atlantic, stunning! An addition that Id forgotten, this is a dog friendly hotel.
Absolutely nothing really, a minor observation, a proper chair rather than a stool would have been nice, also slightly more room to use a laptop, perhaps the TV doesnt need to be so large.

The staff were great - particularly the kind staff member who got me to Clovelly. My room was comfortable but very small with a low ceiling. I was glad to find a small fan in the closet because the room was hot and stuffy even with the window open. The bathroom was small, clean and modern with a lovely bathtub. The lighting in the room and the electrical outlets were exceptionally good.
I got confusing directions from the Hotel on how to get from the Coastal Path. I ended up walking 1 km from Horns Cross on the A39. It was terrifying as there is very heavy speeding traffic and no pavement. The wifi reception and TV reception were awful. I didn't like the rough plaster on the walls but others might.

The Hoops Inn was so comfortable and exceptionally clean. Everyone we encountered was very friendly. Aesthetics were beautiful, loved the stained glass and gorgeous old fireplaces. The bathroom looked brand new and the shower was the best ive had in a hotel. We had an evening meal and breakfast both of which were delicious. There was plenty of parking available.
The weather was atrocious so we didn't get to enjoy the pretty garden which had lots of sitting areas. Nothing the hotel can do about that!

The room, number 15, was good, especially the side space, which was perfect for working on the computer. Food was excellent and the breakfast omelette is highly recommended. Staff were really pleasant and very helpful.
Water pressure on the tap in the sink is so high that there is a constant danger of getting soaked. Disappointing that coffee at breakfast was instant coffee - did not match the quality of the food.

Dog friendly, great quirky layout, comfortable beds, attentive staff. But the food was gastropub heaven. Can’t knock them on portions either. Our waistline could only manage the 2 nights we booked.
The bar set up is a bit weird. A stool-seated barrier of locals mean you have a limited view of the beers on tap and you have to order over them. Friendly enough but possibly daunting to some customers.

Marvellous, historic Inn in a lovely rural location but not too far from Bideford and all the associated amenities. Room was spacious and comfortable. The food was excellent and served piping hot. An all around excellent stay and somewhere I would come back to if I can.
The working facilities weren't great in the sense that there was no proper desk for me to work from. Hot water took a long time to get out of the sink.

We had dinner in the bar area. I'm a vegan and there were a couple of main course options available. I had a Red wine & beetroot risotto followed by an Eton mess, both were delicious and items which aren't usually suitable for vegans. I wish I lived nearer to return for a meal.
