November 2024

Number 8 is a beautifully renovated Boutique Hotel in the heart of Canterbury (15min walking to Canterbury West train station, 5min to Canterbury bus station, 5min to Canterbury Cathedral). I was able to check in early, which was of great help to me; thank you again! I stayed in Suite 5; the pictures completely reflect the rooms advertised. I loved the separation between bed room and lounge. The small 'kitchen' area with a fridge (no freezer), a coffee mashine, and a kettle was sufficient to have a relaxed breakfast in the morning. There was a fully equipped kitchen plus washing mashine in the cellar; both I did not use. The small bathroom has a good size with a washing basin, toilet, and walk-in shower. The bedroom had a big and comfortable bed. Available heating was sufficient for November temperatures. Overall, I can recommend staying at Number 8.

There is some general ventilation that cannot be switched off or regulated by the guest. The ventilation in the bedroom is situated directly over the bed: the sound did sometimes disturb my sleep, and I also felt some air movement on my head, so I slept the otherway around to get out of it. I am a supporter of sustainable approaches but I did not like the wooden cutlery and paper plates/cups/etc. I appreciate the tought that these are nature friendly and compostible. However, there is no seperation of waste, all ends up in one bin. Within the 5 days of my stay, I would have loved to accumulate less waste. In my eyes, it would be perfectly fine to clean a cup, a plate or some cutlery in the wash basin of the bathroom or step down to the kitchen to do so.

The room was very clean and comfortable. The heating could be easily adjusted and there is also a separate air-conditioner unit for the summer. I stayed in room number 3 which has a little fridge. There is a kitchen in the basement, which includes a washing machine. All the rooms and suites have different features and I would recommend that you have a look on the hotel’s website to choose the most suitable room for your stay; as detailed descriptions are given there. Do check out the nearby Three Tuns pub. It has a great open log fireplace and they were doing lunchtime deals. Three courses for £7.49!

All good

The suite I had booked was small and cosy and absolutely tidy, with a comfortable bed and no noises to be heard in the bedroom at night. In the bathroom, there was a rainfall shower and a sufficient number of towles of all sizes, as well as different kinds of products, like soap and shampoo. Check-in was easy and Laura was very helpful, when there was a problem. Number 8 is close to the High Street, so you have all kinds of shops, restaurants, tea rooms and coffee places nearby. And it is only a five minutes walk to Canterbury Cathedral.

I would have appreciated, if there had been at least one hob for preparing fresh coffee in the flat (I don't like the capsules that are being offered at accomodations). Actually, there i s a kitchen in the basement which allows guests to do their own cooking, but it is dark and there isn't much space. So I went out for dinner every evening. Luckily, there is a roastery nearby, they make very good coffee; so with a coffee to go I could have breakfast at the flat.

Lovely cosy modern flat with everything you need for a short stay, and at a very affordable price. Tea/coffee/milk provided, plus toiletries. There’s also a communal kitchen ( basement) and bike lockers in the yard free for guests use. Fab location close to Canterbury East Station and the shops. Has a cafe below ‘Chatterbox’ which was perfect for breakfast. It was dog friendly too. We can’t wait to stay again!

Everything was good, just a little too hot for us. Also, being on the 2nd floor could be problematic if you’re less mobile/carrying a child/dog/shopping up the stairs.

The suite was self-catering as we expected and needed as we've got two children and eating out is always difficult and expensive. The rooms were comfortable, clean and well looked after. It was well stocked and it was handy having the guests' kitchen downstairs. The rooms were in Canterbury city centre so very convenient for shops and seeing the city. The car park was just down the road and it was really helpful of the owners to sort out parking vouchers for us. This worked well as we were driving to Dover for one of the days. The owners were really helpful and informative. Price was the best in the city for us, especially during holiday time.

I can't say anything could be improved. We had a good time in the suite.

The facilities were well thought out on the whole, and it's a very central location. Easy to follow and accurate instructions for entering the appt. Having Netflix on the TVs was great. The shower and bathroom were big.

The rules stressed that all washing up should be done by guests to avoid a fine. But the sponge provided looked as though it had been there a while and was not suitable to clean with. It made you feel like all the crockery provided (in a well thought out way) had not been cleaned for you to use in the first place. The tray under the draining board was also scummy. The Nespresso machine was a great addition, but all of the pods except for one were decaff.

Nice and modern property, easy door access, staff were very helpful and responsive to all our queries, very close to town centre, excellent location, excellent facilities, and got all the stuff such as microwave, fridge, toiletries, towels, coffee machine, tea and etc.

There’s a bit of animal hair on the sofa. The head shower keeps on falling off from the slide bar- very dangerous! The head shower hit my little one’s head as it just fell off from the bar. There’s no lift, so you have to use the stairs- a bit difficult to carry all your bags if you’re staying on the second floor.

The property is in a great location, right in the centre of Canterbury but with the added bonus of a car park not being to far away. We stayed in suite 5 on one of the hottest weekends of the year and the owners had thought of everything, it was cool, we had fresh water in the fridge, it really made a difference. The room had lots of nice little touches and facilities. The hairdryer was amazing, usually you get a little travel one if you are luck enough to get one provided, the one here was better than my one at home!

The apartment was lovely, very nicely furnished, and well located. We spent the weekend with our 1-year-old son, and it was very convenient. They have a travel cot (although we used ours as we didn't know) and a high chair, which was very handy. Since our son had to be in bed quite early, having the option to get some pizzas, cook them in the oven downstairs, and take them up to our flat while he was sleeping was very nice. Very well equiped as well. The host, Laura, was very kind and helpful.

Just AMAZING! Confortable, clean, well located, everything has great quality (toiletry, linen, towels), new furniture, best shower I can remember. There’s a small kitchen enough to have breakfast in the room (coffee, milk, tea and cookies available) and a convencional kitchen well equipped downstairs (we cooked some food for our dog). Oh, yes, is pet friendly! We just loved it!
