Lovely traditional style hotel with comfortable rooms and a warm friendly atmosphere. Only had breakfast from the restaurant but very nice. Nice bar area with plenty of areas to sit and relax.

Initially we were given a room on the top floor and because of the old style building there are wooden trusses (beams) and being 6' 2" this caused me to need to walk about hunched over and this room was right at the front of the hotel which was quite noisy with people coming out from the pubs and traffic late into the night and early in the morning. However, we asked to move tooms the next morning to a room at the back of the hotel which the staff were great and did without any problem and our new room was very nice and quiet. So if you are a light sleeper or tall request a room to suit at the rear of the hotel.

The staff was lovely, from the desk to the breakfast wait staff. The rooms were very quiet, attractive and comfortable. Although the hotel doesn't serve dinner, and we'd had a long day, we found an excellent farm to table restaurant close by (walking distance) -- The Goods Shed.

Parking is a challenge because you can't reserve a space in advance. We luckily found public parking on the street (I have a handicapped hangtag) but then we had to roll the bags about a block to the hotel. The hotel was also a bit further from the Cathedral than I had imagined (with my walking problems), and it doesn't serve dinner (except pizza). The block where it is located is a bit scruffier than I'd expected, but these are minor complaints compared with the basics -- staff, room, quiet, breakfast -- all superior.

Stayed at the falstaff for a night away with my partner for his birthday. Fantastic location just off of the high street. Staff were friendly and helpful. Ample parking in the hotel car park and other areas just a short walk from the hotel. Drinks were reasonably priced. We stayed in a superior room which was lovely. Four poster very comfortable bed, very clean, roll top bath was very big and relaxing, plus a large shower in the bathroom. Robes available at no extra cost. Good selection of tea and coffee aswell as toiletries and a hairdryer. Iron was not put in the room however were available on request. Very quiet room we didn’t hear anything from neighbouring rooms. Breakfast was served, not a buffet which we did prefer. Good selection there aswell as pastries cereal and fruit, we both had a full English which came with scrambled eggs. We like scrambled however I’m sure poached/fried was available on request, high quality ingredients used and very tasty. Hotel parking was very reasonable priced at £10 payed on check out. All in all fantastic stay and would very much stay there again.

Check in was quick and easy and being able to park at the hotel was great. We all really liked our rooms. They were very clean and extremely comfortable. The choice of cocktails was amazing and sitting, relaxing, with a lovely cocktail rounded off our very special day.

It was very disappointing to arrive for breakfast in the morning only to be told that there was no chef, so no cooked breakfast! Spoiling yourself at breakfast when away is a really important part of the experience. The cold buffet was well presented and tasty, but not what we were expecting.

Most of the staff very friendly . Great location .Good breakfast although a limited choice

Didn't see why you had to pay £12 per night to park in the hotel car park ,we thought that was very poor . Also when at the bar there was a service charge put on for drinks you bought .If you didn't notice it or question it then it stayed i.e. a round of drinks approx. £20 service charge £2-53. when asked why it was on i was told it was optional , but its not optional if your not told about it . You should not have to pay a service charge for someone pouring 4 drinks

The room was decorated very nicely and had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was very tasty the staff were very helpful and friendly. The bar and seating area were well decorated overall a beautiful hotel.

The breakfast in the morning was a little slow we waited around half an hour one day before our order was even taken. I asked for the vegetarian full English three times and twice they told me they had run out of veggie sausages. The last day I had it there was only one sausage and one hash brown as opposed to two of each as I had had before. The fruit selection pastries and orange juice were all almost gone by the time we got down and they were never replenished.

The location was fantastic - right in the middle of the town. The bed was comfortable and all the linen of a high quality. Good shower and great bathroom. The breakfast was lovely and the young lady who took the orders was very helpful and professional. Even though the car park was an added cost, it was convenient to have a parking space on site.

As with many hotels in old buildings, there were stairs and passageways to negotiate. We were on the first floor, so it wasn’t too bad but may be tricky for people with mobility issues. Our room looked onto the back and there were tables for drinks. As it was cold and rainy, there wasn’t anyone outside, but it may be different on fine, warm evenings.

The Falstaff is a lovely hotel, full of character and charm - we've stayed here on a number of occasions. On our recent stay, we booked one of the cosy rooms which we considered to be good value for money. The room, of course, was small as expected but it had everything we needed and was beautifully decorated. It might not suit everyone as it really is cosy but it was fine for us. Breakfast was very good and is served in pleasant surroundings. I thought there had been more cold buffet options on past visits - there was quite a limited choice this time - but the hot choices (cooked to order) made up for that. The location is perfect for exploring the wonderful city of Canterbury and also for the theatre. Car parking is available although the price has risen to £12 per day.

Nothing much to dislike - it's a great hotel.

Such a lovely hotel, a fabulous location with excellent staff and incredibly comfortable beds. We had a beautiful room with lots of space, it had 2 windows one each side of the room that seemed original features of the building, a huge bath in the room and a spacious en-suite. The room was a little chilly but it was -5 oC during the night so this isn’t surprising, and I actually prefer a room cooler rather than stuffy so it suited us very well. I’m in no doubt that the age of the building and especially this room with the multiple windows must make heating it a challenge, but I’m certain that the amazing staff would do all they could with blankets and heating if requested. Plenty of room downstairs to relax in and I bet in the warmer months the outside area is fantastic to spend an evening. Great location, couldn’t be much more central really. Cannot wait to stay again. Very helpful staff and quick to resolve issues with minimal fuss.

The slight area that I would say could be improved is breakfast service and replenishment of fruit / breads. It felt as though they were a member of staff down as service seemed a little chaotic with items being forgotten/incorrect. The food was delicious and there was no issue when things were requested. The parking is also a bit restricted but there’s a car park just across the road.

We got a complimentary upgrade on arrival which was not expected but extremely appreciate. The room was lovely and spacious, clean and tidy and we had a cute little Juliet balcony which was lovely! The bed was massive and super comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant, it was pizza’s only but they were really delicious and the cocktail bar was fantastic, a wide range of choices and they tasted delicious, not too expensive either for the quality. We had a lovely breakfast in the morning also, very impressed. Me and my boyfriend would definitely come back here if we were to visit Canterbury again!
