We loved our stay at Avalon House! Frances is so kind and welcoming and the house is cozy and beautifully decorated. The room was perfectly clean, warm and lovely. The big room has a large en-suite bathroom with a great shower and access to its own small sitting room with a tv. The breakfast was delicious—we had our choice of yogurt and fruit or a cooked breakfast and very much enjoyed both. France gave us lots of useful advice about the area. Absolutely better than any hotel we’ve stayed at in the area and we’d love to come back. Thanks for all your hospitality!

Avalon is owned and operated by a friendly, elegant couple who keep their home in immaculate condition. It is spacious, well appointed, has high ceilings, picturesque views of a garden, farm fields and Castle Cary. Frances prepared wonderful breakfasts with tasty options. The house is next to Ellesmere House another B&B. They are virtually the same in size. While also nice, I would return to Avalon House as my first choice.

The property was centrally located, with easy access to the numerous museums and gardens in the vicinity. The room was very spacious and additionally there was a private separate lounge only for our use. The bathroom/toilet was spacious and spotless, as was everything about the accommodation. The breakfasts were excellent. The owners were very helpful and helped us to plan our excursions. We highly recommend this excellent bed and breakfast "hotel"

Everything was 100% and an ideal!

A warm and friendly welcome from our hosts Julian and Frances. On both mornings of our stay we enjoyed a full English breakfast with locally sourced products. Very accommodating of our requests and excellent local knowledge of places for us to visit in the area. Very well appointed and comfortable room with special touches of a complimentary chilled bottle of rosé wine, fresh daffodils from their garden and the most luxurious white towels! An experience we will cherish. Thank you

Beautiful and clean room, in a very elegant house. Added bonus of a living room across the hall, supplied with complimentary wine in the fridge :) A very comfortable and peaceful environment to spend a few days exploring the area. Breakfast was great, Frances was very flexible and asked what we would want to eat the day before. The home made marmalade was a real treat, with eggs, granola and full english also on offer

a peaceful, perfectly located B&B for a weekend in Somerset. The delightful owners couldn’t have been more accommodating and friendly - I was home late from a birthday party both nights of my stay and they gave me a key, and left lights on for me. Delicious breakfasts and a super relaxed and welcoming environment. I can’t recommend Avalon House enough; I’ll be going back!

The bedroom has 5 star hotel quality bed linen and soft, thick bathroom towels. The separate living room gives the option for watching TV or working independently if the other guest wishes to rest. Frances is an excellent host and was most helpful in restaurants and local attraction recommendations.

An unexpected gem..! Frances and Julian are wonderful hosts. A beautiful room with access to our own sitting room, complimentary wine on arrival and delicious breakfast...in beautiful countryside. We will certainly be returning, thank you for a memorable stay !

We were made to feel so welcome at Avalon House. Frances could not have been more helpful, with excellent guidance of where to visit, make restaurant reservations etc. The rooms are large and very tastefully decorated, the bed extremely comfortable, breakfasts delicious. We would love to return; it was so comfortable and luxurious and there is so much to do in the area.

We stayed 2 nights and were made to feel very welcome during our stay, hosts also went the extra mile with helping us navigate the area. Our room was spacious, light and very comfortable, breakfast was great as were all the facilities. Great location and if I’m ever in the area again I’ll definitely be staying here. Highly recommend!
