We had the most lovely time. The pub is beautiful, with lovely art works tastefully arrange. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, which is enhanced by the lovely staff, who are so friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The food was incredible, from the presentation to the taste. It was all exceptional with an eye for detail, which just made everything special. What was a lovely treat to ourselves was taken to a whole new level, from the incredible pie for supper to the amazing breakfast selection in the morning. I was so pleased to be staying for two nights so we could do the menu justice. The room was lovely, with the little homemade treats on the tea tray a lovely surprise as well as the flask of fresh milk. The bed was large and comfortable. The shower amazing. I could go on and on...... Can not recommend highly enough, will definitely be booking another visit. Thank you to everyone for a lovely weekend.

Very good breakfast, well cooked and tasty. Location was good for access to Chichester, but it is in a very small hamlet with no facilities other than the Horse and Groom Inn itself. There was a banging good band playing in the bar on the night we stayed, which was a wonderful "extra" for us.

We couldn't get any food on our arrival because the restaurant closed at 16.00 on Sundays, and they were in any event fully booked. The staff made no suggestions as to where we might get something to eat. After a journey of 4 hours this was a little disappointing - but obviously our fault in not thinking about it in advance.

It was a nice pub with character. In the evening there was a buzz from the locals. The food (dinner) was very good though I was disappointed that the set menu wasn't available. Breakfast was excellent, though as made to order it isn't particularly quick. The room was spacious and comfortable with a coffee machine and kettle and bottles of free (tap) water.

I'm sure it was to try to avoid food waste, but it would be nice if toast wasn't "buttered" for you. Not everyone likes the same spreads or even wants butter on toast. Also a way to dispense jam or honey would be good. There was quite a lot of road noise too.

I cannot rate this lovely Inn highly enough. Everything about it was exceptional. The rooms are beautiful and extremely comfortable, lots of lovely touches like the Nespresso and the biscuits. The bar is small but really welcoming-lovely open fire and a good selection of quality drinks, ales and wines. The restaurant is superb and very good value. We had a range from the menu and everything was delicious. They were full, it was very busy and the staff were very good. Even the breakfast was outstanding-good coffee, lovely food. I can see why it’s so popular.

Absolutely nothing!

off the beaten track not far from Chichester , this beautiful property. Superbly managed and maintain. The rooms are delightful and the bathrooms are small but stunning and spotlessly clean. As for the staff they are more than willing to spend time discussing local attractions and any requirements you may have. Overall it was a wonderful stay albeit only for one night. I would certainly book again and for longer this time : taking advantage of the hospitality - a menu of freshly prepared dishes and a good selection of wine.

There was nothing not to like

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were well equipped, attractive and spotlessly clean. The cooked breakfast was delicious.

The window had a sheer blind over it for privacy during daylight hours and beautiful heavy full length curtains to be drawn at night. Unfortunately, once dark outside, drawing the curtains covered up the radiator, preventing it from heating the room, and a sheer blind does not work when it is dark outside and light inside. Luckily, the towel rail in the bathroom was very efficient and helped heat the bedroom space too. A solid blind over the sheer blind or shorter curtains would solve the problem.

It was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. Very attractive dining room. With colourful prints on the wall and bright cushions. The staff were efficient and friendly and it was great to be able to thank the kitchen guys through the hatch. The food on all 3 nights of our stay was excellent, an interesting menus and everything cooked superbly. The pub is well placed for visiting local places of interest.

The bedrooms are small, only room for one chair and rather dimly lit, reading was a bit of a strain.

Truly lovely Inn; location, decor, facilities all excellent. Saturday after arrival was sublime. Sunday after breakfast was lovely although we had to have dinner elsewhere.

On Monday, prior to leaving, it all went awry. No spare toilet roll in bathroom, which seems amusing but try it! No tea bags except non caffeine, so tried to make coffee but milk was sour. From 7:15 tried to get contact, walked around the hotel trying to find a contact to resolve problems but no result. Finally tapped on front window to attract attention. Told breakfast room was open from 7:15 and so it was, but the gate to the restaurant was locked so couldn't get to the door anyway. All eventually resolved but sad end to what would have been a perfect weekend. In spite, I have recommended to friends; just don't go for a Monday morning stay!

Allowed us to check in early. Room decor was beautiful, although bathroom area was small the facilities within the bathroom were excellent, including a very powerful shower. Complimentary tea, coffee and water selections were a lovely touch. Bar had a good selection of drinks and although they did not have our first choice of beverage they went out of their way to produce and even better substitute. Breakfast was amazing, homemade granola, porridge served with fresh cream, sugar and golden syrup, home baked pastries, yoghurt with fruit compote, locally sourced bacon for the sourdough baguettes, hot choices were superb too! Staff were so accommodating.

Only one complaint was no dinner option for the Sunday evenings! We did tell the manager when we checked out and he explained that this was down to new ownership and they were trying to rectify this as soon as the business allowed.

Great breakfast, good coffee, perfectly poached eggs though a little cold on first morning. Hubby enjoyed full English. Evening meal was delicious, I wanted something not too heavy and the onion tart was fabulous. Great wines too. Really friendly and professional host, bar staff friendly and clearly an amazing chef. Nice room, amazingly comfy bed and pillows, which is hugely appreciated, we both slept so well. Shower room a little small but great shower makes up for it and toiletries to a good standard too.

Flies! OMG so many flies. It was a shame the restaurant & bar is closed Sunday, would be good if something like limited menu or sandwiches could be available until 7pm
