I haven't stayed here since well before lockdown and it has had a very good overhaul since my last visit. Maybe new owners? I booked a single room but was upgraded as it looked much bigger and smarter that the one in the picture on the website so that was a lovely surprise. Huge, comfy bed, fridge in room and decanter of gin as well as mini bar. Excellent freestanding fan as the weather was hot when I arrived. Very nice staff.

Brighter reading lights would have been nice as the room was quite dark due to it's age and period. The bath (and it's always lovely to have one) was designed so that you couldn't turn the taps on unless you were sitting in it, because the shower guard was fixed (or stuck) - seemed a bit odd if it was designed that way.

The room was lovely as was the hotel. Staff we’re fantastic Down side no air con and it was ridiculously hot. I also think breakfast should be included in the price

Air conditioning needs to be thought out or bigger fans it was unbearably hot especially when trying to shower etc. the bathroom shower was hard to get in and out of because if the rigid screen. Anf I feel breakfast wasn’t great and nedds better options but should also be included in your stay.

Breakfast (including the staff) was absolutely first class. The location of the hotel was ideal for our needs. The reception and bar staff were all excellent. In the (superior) room, the bed was large and comfortable. The bathroom was large and well equipped. The room servicing was excellent.

1.The pigeons living directly outside the single-glazed window, making a lot of noise early in the morning, with hideous amount of droppings on our windowsill. This should be addressed urgently given the current bird-flu issue. Mesh deterrents should be fitted to the roosting places, including the sills. 2. The quilt on the king-size bed was not large enough. It felt as if the wrong quilt was on the bed. 3. The fridge fitted INSIDE the wardrobe, not only used up space, but the wardrobe itself acts as a loudspeaker for the fridge motor. When it ‘chills’ using its motor, it is excessively loud overnight causing disturbed sleep. Not great at all. I had to ask for it to be unplugged/turned off which, I must say, was done with no argument at all, and I thank you for that.

Good location within the city walls and only a short walk north of the centre. Very convenient for visiting all of the local attractions such as the Cathedral, the Bishops Gardens etc and easy to explore all around. The hotel is very historic and the rooms reflected this in their size, but were very comfortable, quiet and kept spotlessly clean. The parking was very easy as there were spaces at the rear of the hotel and a simple check in with your reg into an iPad in reception. The restaurant was very good and served an excellent meal.

Not a lot, maybe a better lift, but as the staff explained its an old building and listed so difficult to upgrade. Really its only because some numpties couldn't be bothered to remember to properly shut the gates that the lift occasionally didn't work.

Room was a decent size, super-king size bed very comfortable. Location ideal: in city centre and also near Festival Theatre. Breakfast (and coffee) very good, pre-theatre dinner fine. Just managed to get a parking space - these are limited.

The Spa was closed, though we knew this when we booked. This meant room price was high relative to the facilities available. One minor annoyance: part of the shower screen was fixed to the bath edge, which, together with the large size of the excellent monsoon shower blocking the remaining part, meant that the bath taps could only be operated when standing in the bath.

Stylish yet understated décor - the bedroom was not too fussy but also very warm and inviting - a lovely space to relax in and spend time in. Very comfortable beds, very comfortable bedding and all round just a very calming, comfortable and tasteful environment. Lovely coffee and good (proper) size tea mugs! attention to detail was great in the rooms. Lovely breakfast - prompt and good choices. Very flavoursome and good quality ingredients. The cereal selection could include some oats and a few seeds!

On arrival we had a note that an event was going on and would be loud until 11. We asked to move to a higher floor which staff very kindly did! Parking limited and sometimes there was a slight odour downstairs which is likely to do with them re-doing the spa?

I’m very fond of this hotel, stayed here several times. Beds super comfy, good breakfast , great location and friendly staff.

The room this time was very small but was still nice. Hotel has introduced a £10 parking charge which even tho they waived it this time as I’ve stayed so often before I didn’t like the idea of that.. also this time breakfast was in addition rather than included. The bathroom products have been scaled down too… not as luxurious- cut backs all round I guess , sign of the times.

Best service we have had in any sort of hotel since before lock down. Staff were friendly and attentive. Service was very quick. Hotel was clean and well presented and room was very comfortable. Excellent city centre location.

No gents toilet on the ground floor. Very old lift not always available as doors not shut properly by other people.

Bed was so comfortable and the staff were really friendly. The room was clean and welcoming. I loved the old 1930's elevator...shabby chic

The bar prices were expensive in comparison to other establishments, but the beer was very cold, crisp and flavorsome. Having paid £205 for a one night stay, I was shocked that we were charged an additional £10 to park the car in their carpark and additional charges for breakfast!!!

We loved the fact that the hotel had its own car park at the rear and is ideally located in the centre of Chichester. It was a short walk to the cathedral and Festival theatre. Unfortunately the lift only goes to the first floor and we had several flights of stairs to negotiate with our luggage before arriving at our room. The hotel is a real rabbit warren. The bedroom door had very low headroom which was challenging for my 6ft plus partner. We feared the worst but the room itself was lovely, quite small but very tastefully decorated with a big comfortable bed. Whilst it was very hot outside the room remained lovely and cool. There was a well stocked fridge albeit the contents were very expensive. There was however, free gin and sherry! The bathroom was down a couple of steps which was also challenging for tall partner. The bathroom window overlooks the car park so it was essential to keep the blind down to avoid embarrassment. The breakfast was plentiful and of good quality. The staff were lovely, friendly and efficient.

Not a lot to dislike.
