It was in a convenient location for my mother, because of her mobility difficulties. The staff were exceptional when we arrived and as soon as they saw that my mother had some difficulties, they offered us an alternative to our booked room. They were friendly and helpful - nothing was too much of a problem. The room was clean and well maintained and the breakfast was served quickly and good. Overall, value for money. We stay in the town often but this is the first time we have stayed at the Royal Hotel. We definitely plan to return there.

Due to the location, it can be noisy, particularly at night. However, if you want to be in the centre of all the town’s major attractions, it is to be expected.

The service was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble! Even when I phoned down at 11 30pm on Saturday night to say that I couldn't get any hot water for a bath, someone came up to my room really quickly and resolved the issue for me. Breakfast was great, we had a good choice of hot breakfast. I had the vegan breakfast both mornings, it was absolutely delicious and unusual. I am not a vegan, or even a vegetarian, but would thoroughly recommend it. The staff were so very friendly. I really liked my room and was very happy to have a bath in the ensuite, as I had requested. The mattress was wonderfully firm, with a great anti allergenic ( as requested) heavy duvet We ate in the restaurant on one evening - the food was wonderful! They had Greek night on the second night which sounded like great fun. If I am ever in Clacton I would stay there again!

The lift could do with looking a lot smarter to match the hotel.

The room was perfect! Super clean and had everything in it we could need. The bed was very comfortable and the TV had loads of choice and plenty to watch. The breakfast was incredible. However the location of the hotel tops the lot directly opposite the pier with a wetherspoons underneath, we didn't hear a peep from the road and crowds of people

We would have liked a bath as it was specified on the booking bath and shower. We would have liked more choice with the breakfast included, as in the room there was a breakfast menu with lots of choice but found out that wasn't included in the booking. But the breakfast we had was incredible!

Breakfast was great, with good choice. Staff very helpful and friendly. Room very comfortable with good views.

Unfortunately for me, I have mobility difficulties and found the fire doors very difficult to cope with, also the doors into the lift. There were also a number of steps to access the restaurant or to get into the main entrance. I understand it was possible to get into the hotel at the back, if you had a key, but not into the restaurant unless someone knew you were going that way.

Polite staff, was frustrated when I got to hotel and was told my room wasn’t ready to be checked into so I had to wait a further 1.5 hours till I could check in. To say sorry I was offered a free upgrade from check in staff but then was never given an upgrade having waited nearly 2 hours at this point. Disappointed and not very professional having booked for a 12-1 arrival. Did not check in till 2.45. Won’t be back until the mess up is justified.

I loved the sea view and terraced area. I loved the lights at night. The room was very cozy. The room temperature was perfect with air conditioning and heating. Very modern decor. Location was in the perfect spot. It was clean. The onside restaurant dinner was lovely Staff are friendly and helpful

I didn't like the stairs leading out to the private terrace I felt they could do with hand rails. I didn't like only having one pillow I didn't sleep well. It only had a shower I thought rooms had baths. I didn't like the breakfast included in the price the food wasn't great bacon was burnt, bread needed more butter, breakfast was small and didn't fill us up, sausages too overcooked and plain I must admit I expected better for a breakfast that would have been 9 pounds for a paying customer.

I loved the sea views and the terrace I loved the jacuzzi bath but I thought it would be bigger for the price. The staff were very welcoming and helpful really friendly and make you feel at ease. Cozy atmosphere Comfortable bed Room was sizeable

Bed is comfortable but the pillows wasn't great but I think that's personal preference so I'm not knocking them on that i prefer a more firm pillow. I felt it was slightly overpriced Thought bath would be bigger but I'm intrigued on what the next room up is like.

I said our recommendations were not met due to close proximity but Ellie was great and tried her best but was not possible so I have no problem! The hotel rooms were great- couldn’t fault them! Thankyou to Ellie she had to put up with a million questions from me 😂

The food both for dinner and breakfast wasn’t great! No one was happy apart from the little one who had coco pops! Also no fault of the hotels but the most expensive room is closest to Tom peppers and we had music and shouting till about 3am! Luckily our children couldn’t hear that in their room! Can’t fault the hotel it was unfortunately the surroundings!

The room was lovely and clean, very nicely decorated also as this was a birthday trip as well as an anniversary trip. We both had the perfect stay. Great balcony to look over the seafront. Unfortunately didn’t make use of the dining area in the evening, however, we realised this was a mistake when going down for breakfast as it looked a very lovely, vibrant and atmospheric restaurant. Staff all round were very friendly too.

The only slight downside I can see is the lack of car park, but I understand that cannot be helped.

Room was warm and clean, no problems. Staff including cleaners and reception were professional and helpful. The breakfast was freshly cooked, very nice.

The evening buffet supplied for new Year's Eve was very disappointing. Cold tasteless, service was disorganized, some items were not out at start of service, gravy and sauces. Also Yorkshire pudding suddenly started to appear on people's plates half way through. Never again, overpriced meal for what was supplied.
