A good-sized cozy room, a spacious bathroom with a bath tub, location right opposite the Mistley Quay, a strong WiFi, delicious fresh seafood and fish in the restaurant, a spooky story of the Mistley Thorn haunted by a witch hunter ...

quite a challenge to park - the hotel car park accommodates only 3 cars, the small free parking right opposite is full just as the narrow side street; the hotel personnel was so busy with the restaurant guests that spared me literary no time to explain the breakfast times, WiFi password (no details were in the room as well), etc. The thermostat for the room was set for a too hot temperature - however I actually enjoyed sleeping with a window open.

Super super friendly host. I brought my pup, travelling with my dog for the first time, and was a bit nervous about it. As soon as I entered the building, I was asked if I would like to have breakfast the morning after. When I explained I had to leave very early, they offered me to make a “breakfast take away box”, I could pick up from the kitchen on my way out. The host helped me carrying my bags to my room and was super friendly to my pup. Can really recommend this place if you want to travel stressfree to harwich international harbour The hotel is located next to the station of Mistley, only 8 mins away from Harwich international Harbour

Bit expensive, but I booked last minute.

totally relaxing,Food was great, as was the room, We had everything we needed in our Room.(even a toaster,) I had hesitated about going a day early and now wish I had as I could then have used the facilities to their full. we had an evebing meal in the resturant ( would advise booking in advance) then returned for breakfast .All the food was of a high standard, and staff where attentive,Will defiently be going back

Previous Reviews about the car park, ok it only holds about 3 cars, But the roads and car parks are free and No parking restrictions, we managed to park outside easy enough so NOT an issue.Could Not fault the Hotel,The Food or the staff

The location of the hotel is great, looking out onto the River Stour. We were upgraded to a large room with a view, which was perfect. We discovered a fantastic walk through a forest to Old Knobbley, an 800 year old oak tree. We were also told by the women in the tea shop opposite the hotel that the Mistley Thorn had been the house of the witchfinder general, an interesting piece of history. The hotel was beautifully and tastefully decorated. It feels like a destination, which is nice.

Our meal was good, but not exceptional. I think they would have been better off just using fresh local fish and seafood in the grilled seafood platter, as the fish was fantastic, the seafood less so, except the clams. The hotel was great, though, there was nothing I didn’t like about it.

Our room didn't have views over the estuary but was at the back of the hotel. It was very spacious with a well-appointed, modern bathroom and walk in shower enclosure. There were comfy armchairs in the room as well as the super king sized bed. Mattress and pillows very comfy for a good night's sleep. It was very quiet at night, as it didn't overlook the main Harwich Rd through Mistley, so we can't say what it would be like in one of the front-facing rooms. There is only space for 2 cars in the courtyard at the back but we were lucky enough to have one of those spaces. The breakfast was very good and the hotel has a great reputation locally for its sea food menus. Sadly, we were at an event in Felixstowe and couldn't take advantage of an evening meal here. Very handy for visiting Dedham and the wonderful Alfred Munning's Museum - IMO Britain's best ever painter!

Our room, in a nearby cottage, was very light and comfortable. Plenty of space, very comfy bed, armchairs, variety of teas and coffees provided and good selection of lights. The bathroom was also a good size, very modern and clean and with a supply of lovely toiletries. The team were very friendly and helpful and made us feel at home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Staff very welcoming and friendly. We had a wonderful comfortable attic room with a great ensuite. The food was also great! Menu was varied but particularly good seafood. Short walk into Manningtree and we also managed to find Old Knobbley (the 800 year old Oak) It was good to be able to borrow the key to look inside the Mistley Towers as well. Would highly recommend for a short stay.

Very adequate , though i am not a fan of toast with crusts like steel ! Good quality food.

ry good room But :- duvet far too thick and hot; only one decent light to read by and that was faulty ; TV control seemed to work perversely - channel control was for sound and sound control was for channels !

A lovely river view room. (Room 1). Comfortable seating, dream of a bed, big bathroom. Tea/coffee/biscuit tray and bottle of spring water. Loved the decor too! Staff outstanding, with the ever calm Paddy the tops. Yummy food in buzzy, always full restaurant.

Nothing really. Hand held shower would be good (not a lover of being rained on), but that being picky.

My breakfast on the Monday morning was good, food wise and service, but on the Tuesday it was excellent. I don't know what the chef and done to the food but it was the tastiest I have ever eaten.

The only thing that was great from my point of view was the dinner menu. To be fair I am very fussy, but there was little on the menu I would eat. Not enough choice.
