Checked in later in the day and was checked in quickly and efficiently by a friendly member of staff who even offered to keep some of the carvery back for me (we arrived 15mins before it finished!), rooms was lovely, beds were super comfy, enjoyed a cup of tea and biscuits in our room while the kids watched TV before heading across to the pub for breakfast in the morning. A really pleasant experience.

Maybe a thicker mattress in the baby cot but the toddler ended up in one of the single beds anyways! Struggle to find anything negative to say as we had a really enjoyable stay.

Clean room and lovely staff, had a great sleep on a comfy bed,I would definitely go back.

The evening food was terrible.I would stay there again because it’s clean and comfy for the price but I will definitely be ordering take away next time.. I spent just over £40 on 4 items and was not satisfied.. the pizza was supposed to be wood fired or stone baked but in all honesty I’ve had cheap oven pizzas that are far better and made in the oven.. just tasteless. Also mushroom on ciabatta starter was 7.50 each and tbh it was a slice of bread with some mushrooms on no sauce or flavour.. tomato pasta was bland also no flavour at all ! Overall a lovely hotel ,but they should be producing better food especially for the prices they charge.

Really welcoming staff and lovely place to stay. Staff couldn’t do enough for us. Pub was really great value for money and quality food with a great menu and drinks selection. Plenty to keep kids entertained with a kids room indoors and play area outdoors. We even had the luxury of bouncy castle on the grounds (assuming due to bank holiday weekend). Rooms are in a separate block and not attached to the pub just a walk across a quiet road. This doesn’t hinder staff being available for and help necessary.

Couldn’t fault.

I recently stayed at Blue Jay, Marstons, and I have to say, it was a fantastic experience! From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and well-cared for by the staff. They were friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with anything I needed. The room itself was immaculate - clean, spacious, and well-appointed. The bed was comfortable, and the linens were soft and luxurious. I appreciated the thoughtful amenities, such as the coffee maker and the complimentary bottled water. The bathroom was also spotless, with plenty of fluffy towels and high-quality toiletries. But what really made my stay at [hotel name] so memorable was the service. Everyone I interacted with - from the front desk staff to the housekeeping team to the restaurant servers - was unfailingly polite and helpful. They went out of their way to ensure that I had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. And speaking of the restaurant - the food was absolutely delicious! I dined there several times during my stay, and I was impressed by the quality and variety of the dishes. The menu offered something for every taste, and the portions were generous. Overall, I would highly recommend [hotel name] to anyone looking for a great place to stay. The staff, accommodations, and amenities are all top-notch, and I can't wait to return for another visit. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Where do I start... Was easy to find, check in was quick, staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome even gave us more tea milk etc for our room when requested. There is a McDonald's adjacent, but we availed proper food and had the carvery. Room was clean, the bed was comfortable, shower was good, and the taxi company they recommended (Albatross) collected us on time with no issues. Will definitely stay here again.

I always find faults with places I stay, but this place... couldn't fault it.

The location is spot on,when arrived we checked in with a friendly guy, i asked his name as i thought u couldn't meet a nicer security man, I honestly thought he was a bouncer 🤣 . The room was way more than I expected, i travel alot and this ticked every box, i even left a tip for cleaners. Ave never stayed in Derby before I was in Leicester but choose to stay here. I would 100% stay here again and highly recommend. The security man is called Dan, the assistant manager. when greated by dan then youl what see for yourselves and comment. I bet he doesn't want to be tick tock famous but hes appreciated and made the stay better. Keep up the good work team

The ease of parking, easy checking in, the one thing I noticed no matter what time of day it was, it smelt lovely everywhere, the hotel is across the road and you can only get in with a security card issued at check in. There are 2 floors and it hits you how clean it is and again smells nice, now if you are disabled you need to mention this on booking and request ground floor, as their is no lift, only stairs. The rooms are lovely and spacious and clean, the room we had was on first floor, it had a double bed, and 2 single beds, wardrobe, dressing table and 2 bedside shelfs with the double bed, it has plenty of sockets and and 3 of the double sockets have built in USB chargers, the bathroom contains bath, overshower, sink and toilet, plenty of towels are left for you, and 2 toilet rolls are left on a double roll holder, their is a hairdryer in the room, and an iron is available on request at reception, talking of reception, you need to book in at The Blue Jay, their are 2 sets of doors as you approach the pub, the reception for booking in are the doors on the right, the other doors go straight into the bar, but if you go through these, you just turn right when you enter the pub and walk down a bit and reception is on the right again. Breakfast is gorgeous and well worth the money, and served from 7am to 10.30, for your evening meal you could not pick a better place to eat than The Blue Jay, staff are freindly and polite and work very hard, the food is beautifully prepared and you don't wait an eternity for it, the steaks are gorgeous, and also the homemade mushroom soup is scrumptious, one last thing if you require disabled parking please mention this on booking as a special request, as there are very limited places in the car park.

No lift to the Upper floor, a disabled lift could easily be fitted at the stairway which people have installed in their homes, then it would open up the whole of the upstairs rooms to people who struggle with stairs.

The room was spacious, bright & very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. Plenty of tea, coffee etc in the room with fresh packs of biscuits left everyday. Lots of choice for breakfast. Good quality items & cooked very nicely. Relaxed, unhurried atmosphere.Staff were fabulous at all times . Warm, cheerful welcome & nothing was too much trouble.

Surprisingly, there were no pillow protectors! Wi-Fi was free but not very good. Temperature of hot water at bathroom basin was good but bath & shower hot water only just warm. Probably just needs some adjustment. Couldn’t have a shower on last day of stay. Water too cool.

Spacious room. Comfy bed

The hanging rail. had a shelf underneath which meant you had to leave your clothes hanging down. we did move the shelf but got into trouble as they blocked the key. had to leave my coat in the car due to the lack of suitable hanging space.A coat rack just by the door would have certainly helped especially as it was very chilly going to car with no coat. Breakfast finished a bit early 9 am on the Monday. A bit later more appropriate for people on holiday.
