We booked to stay at Hotel Forty One very last minute. But considering this the price of the room was very reasonable, and we was not charged for our child to stay. The price of our booking included breakfast which was delicious. There was a couple of things that need to be rectified in the room, a broken plug socket near one of the bedside tables, and the bathroom floor got very wet when using the shower, but this did not affect our stay. All of the staff were extremely friendly and very accommodating with us and our 4 year old. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone, and would return myself if I was in the area again.

The bathroom floor got when when using the shower. I'm assuming this is because the shower does not have a proper door and an open screen. Broken plug socket above bedside table.

The room was lovely, especially the bathroom and tub. Great facilities, spotless, and excellent communication from time of booking to date of arrival - a big thank you to Amy in particular. I was a little worried knowing we'd be arriving much later than the manned hours of the hotel, but needn't have worried about that as the self-check in instructions given were timely and detailed, and made it seamless for us. Good value and easy, affordable parking around the corner. Nice breakfast too and pleasant, helpful staff. Would absolutely stay at this hotel again and would recommend to others.

The bed was a little hard for me but a good size and many others would find that firm support comfortable enough. No iron in the room but that can be standard for a lot of hotels, and I'm sure had we requested it in advance there would have been one left in there for us, we just hadn't thought to ask.

Very clean room. We didn’t take a bath, but the bath tub was fitted with a TV screen, which we thought was a nice addition. Complimentary water in the room, as well as coffee and tea making facilities.

The hotel does not offer free parking, but there is a Pay and Display car park around the back. Guests are asked to check in during restaurant opening hours and the hotel is not manned outside of these hours, which meant that we had to miss a part of the wedding that we were attending nearby, in order to be able to check in.

We had a very comfortable and pleasant stay at Hotel 41. Our room was spacious, clean and modern, with plenty of storage and seating area. We slept really well. The bathroom was good too. Breakfast was tasty. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Food at restaurant is convenient, especially early in the week when not much is available in town, but very overpriced (average of £19-20 for a main) given the quality... they have a 2 for 1 deal but that only works if there's two of you. We also had to climb a lot of stairs to get to the room on the top floor. Not a major issue for us but could be for people with limited mobility as there is no lift and no one offered to help carry suitcases up multiple flights of stairs.

Got multiple emails and phone calls from hotel staff when I didn't show up on time just to ensure I'm equipped with all required info to enter while the hotel is unmanned in the evening. Absolutely great! Breakfast was nice, so was the bed - exceptionally comfortable.

Lack of temperature control would be the major complaint, especially in a cold season... Iron and ironing board wasn't available in the room and no shelving in the bathroom to put toiletry on. Parking would also be great, but free parking available within 5 mins walk.

The breakfast was fantastic. Lots of choice and options. I chose eggs benedict and a small portion of pancakes with syrup and bacon. There were cereals and yogurts, I did not have these though. The room was beautifully furnished and decorated. There were various lighting options, a TV with sky. There were hot drink facilities which were well stocked. The bathroom was very nice and well decorated with welcome toiletries. Good shower. I ate an evening meal which was fantastic. Staff were welcoming and great services.

The bed was a little too firm for my preference. The morning sun woke me as the blind did not block out the light, a curtain would be great.

The staff were all great, very pleasant. The breakfast was lovely, well presented. The room was fine and it has a fantastic bathroom.

Booking.com didn't tell us that the room we originally booked was up 3 flights of stairs. My wife has mobility issues and we complained to the hotel about this - they were very good and arranged a lower floor room. Still quite a few stairs, but better. I think the fault lies with Booking.com rather than the hotel - they should tell people which floor the booked room is on before payment is made. Fortunately the staff at the hotel were very helpful.

Room 4 was lovely & spacious with a good-sized bed. But be aware there are a lot of stairs to get to this room. The restaurant was fantastic & so where the staff.

Room 4 has a shower come wet room, but to be honest, it doesn't work. You are left with a squeegee mop to mop up the excess water, which there is a lot off. If you or your other half have a shower, the whole room is soaking wet, so if you wish to use the toilet that is in the same room, the floor is soaking wet you need waders on to get to it so definitely not ideal. It's a beautiful room, but this is a real letdown.

Really quirky and comfortable room. Lovely staff. We had a great meal there the evening before the Woldsman walk and slept so well.

The only thing I would suggest is that if you have lots of walkers staying next ear that have an early start, offer a breakfast box or deduct the cost of breakfast from the bill. There wasn't an option to enjoy what I would imagine would be a fabulous breakfast because we had a 6am start.
