The hotel was quirky and cosy. Was lovely inside with period decor throughout. Very clean and the Staff couldn't do enough for you. Also makes a change to find a hotel with a bath. Stunning bedroom with everything you required. We'll what can we say about the bed? It was huge and one of the most comfortable beds We have ever slept in. Amazing! They also have plug sockets next to the bed which is great if you have to use medical devices when you sleep. Also the fact they have free parking in the middle of town. Easy walking access to local amenities.

The fact there is no lift just a lot of stairs. The plus side is it keeps you fit.

The breakfast was excellent. I have allergies and these were catered for very well. The staff at breakfast were warm and friendly.

The sitting rooms are used during the day for craft groups and meetings. The rooms are not hired by the groups they are only asked to buy a coffee/drink.. I was told by a crochet group leader, I may wish to vacate the sitting room as her group were expected. I found this very rude as I was a paying guest. I would suggest that the use of sitting rooms for meetings and crafts are made clear when booking a room. I was attending a funeral and would have appreciated a quiet sitting room to relax in. This is the only hotel I have ever stayed in where the guest sitting rooms are used in this way.

Perfect position, good size rooms, clean, and very friendly staff.

Our room was a good size room with a four poster bed, and a good size en suite, the unfortunate thing was that the room was damp and a strong fusty smell, the room was clean cannot fault that, I just feel that it is very tired and could do with refurbishing, I presume Lairgate hotel is a listed building so some things will be difficult to do and also I understand all this costs and in a time of recession. All this said we had a good evening and would stay again but possibly in a different room.

Location was great, staff were very friendly, extremely welcoming and super-helpful. On-site parking very useful. Superb bed, very comfortable. TV in room was good, great reception and easy to use! Shower gel and hand-wash provided, however there was no hand-wash in the dispenser the first night, which meant it hadn't been checked for a while...but this was filled up when we mentioned it to housekeeping staff the following day. There was a live jazz band on Friday night which we enjoyed watching with some of the locals. Drinks from the hotel bar were very reasonably priced. Breakfast was very good value for money. A good choice of cereals, fresh fruit, yogurts and fruit juices. English breakfast cooked to order, lovely fried bread 😋 and extra items available on request. Hotel was clean and comfortable.

Room 15. There was a leak from the cistern which we reported but wasn't fixed, we had only one hand towel, although 2 large bath sheets, and when we asked for another one the next day we found we hadn't been left 2 and the bathmat had been removed, no idea why! The toilet roll holder was loose on the bathroom wall and the extractor fan was not connected with the inner workings of the switch exposed. The hotel is quite tired and with a bit of a facelift would be much more attractive. However, it is in keeping with the traditional Englishness that is Beverley.

Perfectly situated in the town centre, great old building with traditional decor. The floor boards in our room were quite squeaky, it was fun trying to work out a route that avoided the squeaks so we didn't disturb our neighbours, (doing this when you've had a few was more than a little amusing 😆). We met 5 members of staff, they were all very friendly & polite. Breakfast was excellent, perfectly cooked & our waitress was was a treasure. We'll definitely be back.

We had a great weekend, absolutely nothing that we didn't like.

Lovely traditional old hotel, right in the heart of historic Beverley. Our room was on an upper floor which gave us rooftop views over part of the town centre. Our room was warm, comfortable and contained everything needed. Unlike most modern hotels, the Lairgate has plenty of informal, communal space for it's guests to relax in and the grand central staircase is a real gem. We regularly visit the area and have no idea why we haven't used the Lairgate previously but will certainly do so again.

Maintenance need to make good the walls either side of the bed where fixed bedside tables have been removed.

We stay here 2-3 times a year, it’s so warm and friendly and the bar area is cosy, like home from home, relaxing and a great place for a quiet drink witch friends, we always have breakfast which is excellent with a good choice, even vegetarian, rooms are clean with everything you need, we look forward to staying here

Only downside is the car park but to be fair there lucky to have one in the centre of Beverley and there are plenty of care parks close by

The room (no. 7) was spacious and comfortable with a large bathroom with bath. Windows that actually opened and it was quiet !! Excellent cleaners. The breakfast was varied and beautifully cooked and the staff - particularly reception and breakfast - were so friendly and helpful.

Not much really. Occasional outside loud voices from other guests, but not much you can do about that if they want an outside drink. Or if they're returning back later at night. Car park lights were very bright.

Our room was large and comfortable, in an old style but functional. Like the rest of the hotel it could do with a little tlc, needs a kick of paint and general attention. Having said that it was certainly very clean. The gentleman on reception was very friendly and polite and we were able to check into our room a little early which was great. The hotel is situated close to the centre, just one road back from the main street and also within easy walking distance of the railway station. We would stay here again if the price was right.

Location and the staff where Amazing couldn’t do enough for us we stayed for our wedding in the town centre breakfast was lovely. The bed was so comfortable and it was very warm getting ready for my wedding and ans the staff brought fans I couldn’t fault it and most definitely would Stay again. 💗

A little dated and shower and loo took ages to empty but the building is extremely old and was told There have been a few problems that side didn’t ruin our stay
