The owners, Karen and Darren are exceptional hosts, we were made to feel extremely welcome. They have a lot of passion for running a fabulous pub and their effort is reflected in the outstanding food, service and overall atmosphere of the property. The room we stayed in was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The furnishings are well maintained and the en-suite bathroom was spotless and spacious. Overall we were very pleased with our stay and are planning to stay again.

I stayed here for two nights on a business trip to Bristol. Within 10 minutes of arriving I found myself drinking cider with the locals! The new (three weeks in) owners Darren and Karen are putting a real effort into making this a friendly and welcoming inn. We had dinner here one night and it was great. The pub was busy with diners, always a good sign. Breakfast fry up hit the spot. I had good fun for a business trip!

No issues of note

You can park right outside. Quiet location. Both hosts were friendly and accommodating as my friend was dairy free and needed advice as what she could eat from the menu. The room was a muted decor and calm. Bed was comfortable. The evening menu very reasonably priced. Nothing was too much trouble. A great overnight stay.

There really wasn't anything I didn't like.

Breakfast was very good , hot , nicely cooked and presented, served by landlord in friendly efficient way.Good value for money.Evening meal on arrival was also very enjoyable. Lovely young couple recently taken over The Black Horse and doing a very good job running the recently refurbished accommodation. They are attentative and friendly .Lovely village setting not far from M5 motorway .Our dog was welcomed at the property and I was very happy with my last minute booking.

I have no complaints about my stay.

Location perfect for my purpose (collecting puppy from breeder in Wotton). Nice old pub in quiet village. Owners and staff helpful and friendly, evening meal good. I would like to come back.

The only disappointment was breakfast wasn't available before 9am - too late for the early start I needed to make the long journey (5+ hours) home to Norfolk. Owner offered toast but I had planned a full English feast to set me up for the day. But I managed on the uneaten museli I'd brought for the journey there + a banana!

Such a lovely friendly welcome and the lady who helped me in also fixed me a taxi very rapidly to go to and from a local party. The room was just beautiful, laid out with everything you could want. Lots of fluffy towels, dressing gowns and slippers and all you needed to be comfy. Unbelievably (this never happens to me when I stay away), the bed was really comfortable and the room cool and aired so I could sleep well. I loved the place - old beauty preserved but made cosy.

Continental breakfast in the Sunday which was fine but option of a full English in the Monday morning. Darren and Karen were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help and the staff good . Nice friendly local pub in a lovely village.

Full English sausages could have been a locally produced sausage but appeared to be a supermarket own.

Really friendly staff, lovely room. Great amenities offered, I felt very safe and comfortable here.

Check-out was a little confusing as I wasn’t given a specific time and there was no one at the entrance to take my keys, the owner did come down to help so all was good in the end.

Owners couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, comfortable room, lovely location, very welcoming to my dog, good pub food - would definitely stay again!

My room did get some noise from the music in the bar below - it was quiet enough not to be intrusive and easily blocked out with earplugs... would not put me off staying again!
