We find the hotel comfortable, reliable and convenient for our purpose in visiting the island, which is to visit friends who live within a short drive of the hotel. The hotel is in the quiet, mostly residential area of Eastchurch (which is very quiet at night) a location we prefer to the typical 'seaside' style accommodation of the nearby Leysdown Beach. The manager is helpful, and did recognise us from our previous visits, and was welcoming.

There was nothing we did not like about the hotel. We did not use the gym or the spa but only because that is not required in the purpose of our visit.

We enjoyed our stay at The Shurland Hotel, where we have stayed on a previous occasion, the staff there are friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and comfotable, we had a good night's sleep every night, have no complaints at all and plan to make The Shurland our regular choice of accommodation for planned future visits to the island. With thanks to all the staff, we are looking forward to our next stay. One point worth mentioning: prior to our trip my wife was prescribed insulin as part of her diabetes treatment, a situation we were hitherto unfamiliar with - this made it necessary for us to ask for help from the hotel's staff in respect to storing her medicine at the correct temperature (as not all rooms have mini-fridges). The staff were happy to assist in this respect, storing her medicine safely in one of the hotel's refrigerators and made her medicine available whenever requested. We are thankful for their help in this regard.

There is NOTHING to dislike about The Shurland Hotel if you are a reasonable, sensible person who assesses the hotel for the type and grade of hotel it is and the range of services it offers. If you expect a five star 'Sheraton' or 'Hilton' experience you may be disappointed, so it is pointless and unfair to assess it on that level, but if you expect comfortable 'bed and breakfast' accomodation then The Shurland is well worth a visit. We have been there before and will stay there again.

Staff were really friendly, caring and accommodating, it felt more like home than a hotel. The Gym and Spa facilities were brilliant, we were there over Xmas so had the place to ourselves. The Xmas lunch was delicious and we will definitely be back again

Location was a village in the country side, it was quaint and quiet. The hotel was waiting for their Chef to arrive from holidays, so hopefully evening meals will be served in the future as it was difficult to get take away meals delivered.

The hotel far exceeded what I would expect for the price. The room was clean and spacious, and the staff went above and beyond at all times. The sauna and hot tub were lovely. I had an evening meal cooked by the Sri Lankan chef, so naturally I went for a Sri Lankan mutton curry and it was sensational! Really pleased all round.

The continental breakfast I had didn't taste super fresh. The gym changing rooms need some tlc.

I went for respite and peace and quiet so the small village suited me. The room was nice and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I didn't use the Gym or eat there but I did use the bar. I would certainly visit again

I may have used the bar a little more if they had Sky Sports so that I could have watched the cricket!!

Absolutely fantastic breakfast - far better than Premier Inn ! Room was clean. The room itself in the Hotel was quiet during the day but there was much noise outside until late at night [revellers].

The room could of been larger. More sound proofing from external noises - it was very rowdy outside Saturday night ! No shower gel provided. The large lift did not work if the doors were left open on the lower floor.

Got an auto £5 discount from an already bargain £45 on booking.com. Ample parking you just give your reg at reception. Quick and simple booking in. Single room is small but it’s all I needed, nice en-suite with bath/shower which was quick to heat. Nice big cost cutter shop directly across the road, the bar was shut but the pub across the road looked nice and was busy..

Had a small tv the size of my iPad Pro. I get it, it’s a small room and it’s fitted to half the wardrobe so it’s saving storage space on the other half. The room is an L shape so you have to sit in the bed to watch it with a desk and chair around the bend.

Staff went our of his way to resolve a double-booking caused by Booking.com, of which I was informed only when I was 1h away from arriving (out of a 4h drive)

Booking.com seems to have double-booked me. It was extremely unpleasant and I got a phone call about it from reception at night when I was 1h away from arriving (out of a 4h drive), with nowhere else to go. Double-booking seems to have happened before at this property and Booking.com could not be reached to solve the problem.

My young apprentice liked the new receptionist. If he can have her number I’m sure it would make his Friday.

Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Tea and Coffee provided in rooms. Free Wi-Fi that works well. Jacuzzi and Steam Room were great. Breakfast....continental style was fresh each morning with a choice of toast...cheese.. ham...crumpets...cereals...fruit...yoghurt....tea...coffee and fruit juices. If you prefer a cooked breakfast you can buy this opposite from the food van and eat it in the dining room. The hotel provided what we needed for our stay. All very good value for the money paid for the two of us for 3 nights.

Yes....the building is tired and in need of some repair and decorating but this is reflected in the low cost of staying at the hotel. Many people have complained about the hotel...but you get what you pay for! My only complaint is the size of the TV in the rooms. They are very small and a struggle to watch.
