*Located on a bus route directly into Edinburgh 👌🏻 *Veryyyy comfortable bed, warm and quiet room *Easy check in/ out

*Upon entering the room, there was a dirty tissue on the floor near the skirting board along the wall from the bathroom *The WiFi signal seemed quite weak in our room (17, I think, was our room number - basement) *The bedside wall lamps had 2 different colours of light bulb (x1 yellow/ x1 white) *One of the shower handle fittings was broken/ missing * The shower temperature toggle was missing, and had a screw sticking out instead *The parking is limited to 3 spaces- but the owner was extremely helpful to provide free parking locations elsewhere nearby 👌🏻

Quiet and comfortable. Ideal distance from Edinburgh Central. Welcoming, clean and convenient. Nice hot shower. I slept very well, due to quiet, peaceful environment. Don't usually sleep easily away from home.

Would have liked a plug, so I could have had a bath.

We stayed at Alison House 17 from January 24th to 26th, 2025, and had a lovely experience. Initially, we were assigned a small room with a private bathroom located outside the room. However, we were fortunate that other rooms were available, and the staff kindly accommodated our request for a change. They moved us to a very spacious, cozy, and impeccably clean room with an en-suite bathroom and a beautiful view of the garden. This gesture truly made our stay special, and we were very happy with the comfort and atmosphere. We were also pleasantly surprised that housekeeping serviced the room during our short two-night stay—a thoughtful touch that exceeded our expectations. The staff were incredibly polite, attentive, and eager to help. It’s clear they prioritize guest satisfaction. I highly recommend Alison House 17 to anyone looking for a welcoming, peaceful, and comfortable stay.

Booked the queen size room and it was nice and big , beds where comfy and had a nice ensuite. Location was good about 20 mins walk into the centre or bus stops right outside. We had 3 nights and it was perfect for our needs ,the hotel is a bit dated but very good value for money compared to other hotels nearby, we both agreed we would definitely stay again if we returned. There is no one at reception its keyless entry but it's easy enough and there is replacement room items down In the reception area and you just help yourself.

Only 3 parking spaces available but there is locall parking close by but be careful as the instructions about where you can park are not the best and I ended up getting a ticket. Also Ensuite shower head needs replacing as it tries to waterboard you when entering as it wouldn't stay in place.

Very quiet and cozy building. Easy checkin and checkout. Rooms were very clean. Got an upgrade with no cost. Very quaint part of town and close 20 mins walk to the center.

I messaged the property not to clean my room when i am away because there was no safe in the room and the room rules said that a maximum of 50 pounds will be reimbursed incase of missing valuables. However, nobody responded to my message and the cleaning continued to happen.

Really cool house, Room 2 comfortable, spacious with a lovely view from the window of Arthur's Seat. Big thick curtains that kept the room darker for longer until up & opened. Big comfortable bed. Tea,coffee checked and replenished every day after 10am by the housekeeper. Adequate en suite with a really good shower, clean towels. Bus stops into town just across the road and same on returning just a moment's walk. Like the way you access & leave. Would be our place to stay in Edinburgh in a heart beat on the future visits.

Not a thing to not like... I'll try harder another time though can say now its unlikely to happen!

Hosts extremely helpful - when I asked about TV not working they immediately came to sort out the issue. Was able to leave my luggage in a safe locker whilst I collect a hire car. Nothing was any problem. Would stay here again. Area very safe and easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Regular Bus service into city across the road - very convenient

The changing LED colourful lights on the front of the building could have been switched off a little earlier as they shone through window quite brightly even with blind down otherwise everything else was perfect.

Allison House 17 was easy to find, on several major bus routes and within walking distance of Old Town and beyond. The self check-in and checkout worked perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised how quiet the room was - I couldn’t hear the busy road or any of the other guests. (I had a room in the basement with a view of the garden) The room was clean and had all the amenities needed. The bed was very comfortable.

Nothing.

Location was good! Public transportation was really close by and took you to the city center in like 15 min. If you're good on foot you could easily walk the way into the center and enjoy the neighborhood. - The room was clean and you had tea and coffee along with mugs and a kettle. - Next time I come to Edinburgh, I would book this hotel again!

I stayed in room 4 which has a private bathroom. But you can't lock the bathroom from the outside, which means you can't be 100% sure whether it is being used by others or not. That's a little inconvenient but we didn't have any issues just once we saw someone dumped some trash in the bin in the bathroom which wasn't ours so.. (it was just a bag of crisps but still). - If you have a light sleep make sure to bring earplugs, it's quite noisy from the road outside and when people walk inside the house you can hear that very clearly too. - The bed is comfy but a little too small for two people in my opinion.

I liked how everything was set in place before we arrive, the room key was in a locker which I was sent the code for so could check my family in myself. What I really liked was that there was a cupboard with towels/toilet rolls/ tea, coffee, milk refills and an iron and ironing board to help yourself too if you needed them (the staff did also refill the tea and coffee in the room upon cleaning) I've never seen this before in all the hotels I've stayed in. Great touch. The hotel was clean and although it is abit far from the centre there are great bus links right outside with regualr busses. Would 100% reccomend.
