Glenalmond House is a super B&B to stay. I highly recommend it. We had a large room for our family. It was a bit tight but the room was very well planned. For example, it had a wonderful window area where you could relax in the armchair, read or look at the trees. The little fridge and the kettle became very handy for our stay. The lounge downstairs is very nice and always available or guests. The breakfast room is lovely and we had our own table (this is not always the case at B&Bs). A really nice breakfast it was, plenty to choose from, to meet all tastes and needs. We liked the host very much. He is a cheerful, nice chap, very helpful. The location of Glenalmond House is convenient for taking a short bus ride to the centre, the old town and the railway station. If you are sporty you can also walk to the paths that lead to Arthur's Seat . An interesting detail is that you could order the cab by pressing just one button in the lounge. It worked, and we enjoyed the most fantastic journey in a spacious modern black city cab owned by a co-operation of taxi drivers.

Breakfast is prepared per order (when you arrive; can be changed every evening for the next morning). All fresh and good. Room is a bit small, but very clean and met my needs. And the staff/owners are just great! Would answer any questions you might have, offer information, and help make your stay very pleasant.

Nothing really. Minor things like a smallish bathroom and shower, but travelling for business, I didn't spend much time in the room, so this really didn't really bother me.

super location - 1 mile south of the university .On lots of bus routes to the centre of the city/ botanic gardens / leith/ Rosalyn chapel. Fiona and Jimmy were perfect hosts and shared their lovely house with us . Breakfasts, cooked by Jimmy were exceptional-so much choice and no lacy bottoms on the fried eggs and locally sourced sausages and bacon . We were in Room 4 - downstairs with a garden terrace and 4 post bed . Also a fridge and a safe . Guaranteed parking .

A really exceptional stay, and we'll come again. Jimmy and Fiona have a stunning house and home, beautifully adorned with a very keen eye for decor and design. Loved the portraits of the Stuart Monarchs, and some of Jimmy's antique finds. Our room was spotless, plenty of room for our clothes etc. Glenalmond house is ideally situated too - very easy to get here, and Edinburgh's old town is just a walk away (or mere minutes via the regular bus service). The thing that really stood out though was the friendliness of the owners, we were made very welcome - together with the relaxed atmosphere. The cherry on top? The breakfast was absolutely fantastic. Wide range of options to choose from. My full Scottish breakfast has everything, and was cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. Thanks Jimmy and Fiona for a really fab wee stay.

Nothing to report, it was all perfect!

I was with Jimmy and Fiona in May for the Beyonce's concert that was taking place in Edinburgh and I couldn't speak of a more wonderful, cozy and beautiful place to stay when visiting the city. I highly recommend Glenalmond House. You can go with your eyes closed: the room and the bathroom were impeccably clean, it's a big old house with a touch of modernity. Jimmy and Fiona make you feel special and comfortable, not to mention the included breakfast which is simply one of the best I've had. Thanks again Jimmy and Fiona for the amazing welcome. I will be back for sure! Warm regards, Marjorie.

NOTHING TO COMPLAIN.

Excellent breakfast, comfortable private car park. The host, Jimmy, was friendly helpful and welcoming. Thank you Jimmy for calling for a taxi for us.

The room was too small to call it family deluxe superior (that's what it was called on booking.com). The guesthouse is located further away from the centre than it was said in the description and it's not about 10 minutes by bus, it's about 20. The quickest way to get to the center is by taxi, about 10 minutes outside rush hours. Jimmy's wife was rather on the unapproachable side, which made us feel more like intruders than guests.

Jimmy and Fiona were exceptional hosts. Their B&B has beautiful reproduction furniture which makes you feel like you are stepping back in time. Lovely sitting room for relaxation after a long day of touring. Very clean, well-maintained property. Looking forward to going to Scotland again and will definitely stay with them. They have a menu for breakfast that covers all the right foods. Perfect Scottish Breakfast. Porridge, eggs, sausage, yogurt, fruit, coffee, English Breakfast Tea, juice, etc. They also had great recommendations for places to eat for dinner.

There isn't anything that we didn't like. Will definitely stay with them again. The only thing I regret is not getting the brand of porridge they served. It tastes like heaven.

Beautiful property with onsite parking and close to several pubs, restaurants. Easy bus trip into the city. Hosts were very friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately we couldn't get a double room as the hotel was full, so our twin room was a bit small. Also, we were in a room at the front of the property which is on the main road so it was quite noisy at night. However, I had a glimpse at the double rooms which look beautiful and if you stay at the back of the property, I'm sure it would be quiet.

Really comfortable, stylish place with lovely people to welcome and host us. Fantastic breakfasts. For us, this was a perfect location, as we wanted to be near Newington, to link in with relatives there. It would also be good for Central Edinburgh, as the bus stops right outside.

Well, it was fairly expensive - but understandable over Hogmanay. We also booked late, and it was worth it for us.

Jimmy and Fiona made us feel at home. They are exceptionally accommodating, professional, and friendly. The hotel is a beautiful and charming property with quiet and comfortable rooms with high quality furniture, it is exceptionally clean and cosy and in walking distance to the city centre and all major attractions. The breakfast room and the breakfast itself are already worth the visit - you can select from a wide selection of breakfast styles, like continental, Scottish, American ... We stayed at the hotel for a conference in Edinburgh. The other hotel guests were polite and quiet, and we left feeling well rested. Thank you so much for this wonderful stay!

I think some of the furniture in the room takes up too much space and is, although beautiful in itself, a little too chunky for the room. But that's my personal (minimalist) taste, I'm sure other guests won't feel that way.
