I recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming accommodation hosted by John, and it was truly an exceptional experience. From the moment I arrived, John's warm hospitality set the tone for a delightful stay. One of the highlights of the accommodation is its prime location, just a short stroll from the city center. With no need for public transportation, exploring the vibrant city was convenient and effortless. Additionally, the included breakfast surpassed expectations, with John's delicious porridge being a standout favorite. The attention to detail in the room was remarkable. The temperature control allowed for personalized comfort, ensuring a perfect ambiance throughout my stay. Furthermore, the bed was incredibly comfortable, providing a restful night's sleep. The en-suite bathroom was well-appointed and maintained, adding to the overall convenience and comfort of the accommodation. One particularly thoughtful feature was the presence of USB slots in the lamps, eliminating the need for adaptors. This small but significant detail speaks volumes about John's commitment to providing a seamless and enjoyable experience for guests. Beyond the exceptional amenities, John himself is a gem of a host. His genuine kindness and willingness to assist made me feel truly welcomed and cared for throughout my stay. His attentive nature and helpful recommendations enhanced my overall enjoyment of the trip. In summary, our stay at John's accommodation was outstanding. From the convenient location to the delicious breakfast and impeccable room amenities, every aspect exceeded my expectations. Combined with John's exceptional hospitality, this was undoubtedly the best booking experience I've ever had. I wholeheartedly recommend this accommodation to anyone seeking a memorable and enjoyable stay.
Nothing to point out. It was perfect.

We had an amazing stay, John was a fabulous host! The room was very clean and comfortable as well as spacious. Tea/coffee/biscuits restocked and room given a small clean every day. The included breakfast was so delicious and a wide variety of options. John was such a great host, very friendly and attentive, he even gave us some lovely recommendations for local restaurants. Incredible value for money especially considering the time of year so close to Christmas! Thank you for an amazing stay and hopefully see you again one summer during the festival!
There is really nothing to dislike!

Lovely B&B, owner takes very good care of the rooms and the guests! Our booking included breakfast and there was a great range of cereals, toast, fruit, yoghurt, and drinks. The room was a generous size and the bed was incredibly comfy. Location is great, quiet road and not too far from city centre and the tram stop.
The only thing I can think of to improve is to add blackout curtains in the rooms, as the sun was quite bright in the mornings during our stay. Otherwise, everything else about our room and stay was perfect!

Although some my say this location was a little bit further out we found it to be PERFECT. It was a short walk or bus ride, just 3 stops (No 8) and you were in the heart of the city AND it was quiet! Very important for us. John was a very pleasant host and his breakfast was excellent, I can thoroughly recommend the creamy porridge but all the choices were fantastic. Our room was clean, spacious, comfortable and warm with a good sized bathroom. There are only 3 rooms and this meant everything was serviced really well, we also met some lovely fellow guests. We were able to leave our bags on our last day and collect them when it was time to go home. The other nice thing about the location is that there are some lovely restaurants in nearby Broughton Street. There is so much choice in Edinburgh it can become confusing but this district is definitely worth a visit.
There was nothing to dislike! I truly cannot fault it. The location, room, breakfast and host were all to our liking. We would definitely recommend to friends and family and we will revisit.

Our stay was delightful, the host was really nice, and helpful. The room was just lovely, it had all of the essentials need (hairdryer, body was, shampoo, conditioner, coffee, tea). In the hallway was also an emergency cabinet, where you could find any item, that you might have forgotten. The breakfast was very tasty, you could order anything you like (oatmeal, toast, cereal. yogurt, muffins e.t.c). The location was just perfect, there were many stores nearby. The neighbourhood was very quiet, there were parks nearby and the city center was just a few minutes away by foot.
The only thing we could complain about was the weather in Edinburgh. Luckily there was always an umbrella in the hallway for us to use.

What a gem! This was a wonderful place to spend Hogmanay! John was courteous and welcoming. The room was generously sized and included a tea tray. The bathroom was also a nice size, clean and modern. The bed was comfortable and cozy. There were plenty of options for breakfast. On either end of the street are bus stops that take you anywhere in the city. Would absolutely stay there again!

John was a fantastic host. Great restaurant recommendations. Easy access with your own door code. Made the place feel like home (if you woke up at home and had breakfast ready for you). Great spread on the morning breakfast. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Made our new years special.

John was lovely and provided a fantastic breakfast. Selection of croissants, jams, yoghurts, fruits, porridge and toast (and cooked butties at extra cost). The room was restocked with biscuits/tea/coffee each day. Clean room, beds very comfy with extra pillows and blankets stored in the cupboard. Hair dryer had a diffuser which as someone with curly hair I was over the moon with! Would recommend and stay again.

Georgian-styled building is placed very close to the Edinburgh's New Town. The building, even though it was refreshed, it maintained its over 150-years history, e.g. by keeping original ornate cornicing. Upon entering, the smell of fresh flowers, which stood in a small vase, spread in the hall. There were things in the cupboard in the hall that you could use if you forgot something (hand cream, hairspray, sanitary napkins, etc.) In the living room there is standing an atmospheric, old piano. Room was clean, warm, bright, spacious and quiet. There were cookies and everything to make yourself some tea. There was an plug adapter. We could charge phones just using USB port. You could get to bathroom walking through a wooden door. Bathroom very clean. Everything was working without any problems. There were organic cotton towels and eco-friendly products. So good that I've personally started using their shampoo. John, the owner is calm, empathetic, caring for the guests. Always available to help. It was easy to talk to him, as when talking with guests he's using English, not Scottish accent. He feels when someone wants to talk, or not. Always respecting the sphere of personal comfort of his guests. There were maps, tourist books, novels and games available to use them. Breakfasts are filling and tasty. I recommend homemade muffins. Everything beautifully presented. It was a pleasure even to see the perfectly scraped butter. We ate only porridge from traditional food. It was made of high quality oat. The portion, as for me, was quite large. Fruits, yogurts and organic milk were available at any time. I highly recommend the stay at McCrae's.

A great place to relax. The room is spacious, with high ceilings. The bathroom is clean and has everything you need: shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and towels. There is a hair dryer. Clean, tidy, there is a kettle, tea, milk and a treat from the host, delicious pastries 🥐 The room is clean and pleasant. Located 15 minutes from the station and main street. Quiet and cosy street, supermarket nearby. The host is very responsive and willing to accommodate all requests. We had an early check out so aspen prepared breakfasts to take with us on the road. I can recommend with confidence!!!
