Location was great! Breakfast was a good value, and available times were convenient for both business travelers and those who could sleep in a little. Reception staff always pleasant and helpful with transportation needs and general questions.

Room and bathroom were very small. No facial tissue or wash cloths. Task lighting was terrible for makeup application. Of the two elevators on the second floor, only the one that you had to access by climbing up stairs was used for going down. We had to lug our luggage up the stairs to get to the elevator. A ramp there would be much better.

Receptionists were very welcoming and explanations regarding key cards, facilities and location of rooms were explained perfectly. Breakfast at £13.50 was declined by the four family members as it would not have been value for money. The rooms, although small, were adequate and clean. Housekeeping was good. Beverages of tea and coffee were welcomed and bathroom facilities were good. The shower was very easy to use thankfully.

I didn't like having to pay so much money for the two rooms but understand 'supply and demand' and our stay was during the Edinburgh Tattoo so demand was high.

The hotel is in a fantastic location, the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are a little small but clean and have everything you need for a short stay.

The cost to stay here has risen significantly (doubled) over the last couple of years. Despite the things going for it, which is basically location, I no longer feel that the hotel can justify it's £250 per night price. It is a basic hotel that offers an excellent base, but for the price, you should expect better facilities. I'll be stopping further out of town next time, where I can have on-site parking and even with taxi's in and out of the town centre, I'll save money

The hotel is in a fantastic location (there is a but in the next section, however). It is clean and the rooms are well appointed. They have an arrangement that allows for discounted parking in an NCP carpark (again see the next bit).

The price has risen incredibly in the last 18 - 24 months. The hotel fronts on to Hunters Square, a daily meeting point for a group of drunks. They've never bothered me, but I can see some finding them intimidating. If you have a room at the front (that overlooks the square), it can be very noisy outside, and it goes on through the early hours at the weekend. It's a city centre hotel so there's nothing they can do about it, but if the sound of revellers having fun (and sometimes not !) might bother you make sure you ask for a room at the back.

The location is great, there is a Sainburys store one small block away, lots of eateries and pubs with live music within very short walking distance from the door, and souvenir shopping is right at the doorstep in the Royal Mile. Waverley train station is only a five minute walk or less. Breakfast was good, a goid rage, and fresh and staff were very attentive. Because the Ibis is in the city centre it is noisey, so if noise really bothers you, probably not the hotel to book as there does seem to be some ‘ permanent’ street people who are very noisey both during the day and into the early hours of the morning close by to the hotel. But if your okay with noise this hotel won’t disappoint . The staff regardless of what role they have in the hotel were really friendly the rooms are very well appointed and inviting and bed was comfortable, and we would definitely stay there again.

Because of the size of the room there was no where to put one large suitcase let alone two. And like a lot of hotels those little milk sachets they leave in a room aren’t practical. Two small satchels each is like drinking a coffee without milk. A small carton of long life milk would be a nice touch.

Picked this hotel for its location near the Royal Mile. Great location that did not disappoint. A little difficult to get to if you have not driven in Edinburgh. Room was pretty much as advertised. Staff were helpful at front desk. Also attended several Comedy shows right next door which was a plus!

While rooms were as expected, they are fairly small, two single beds were our default as no queen bed available and we are both over 6' (1.9m). Beds were uncomfortable, stiff, poorly padded. But again we picked this hotel for location and value.

Really great location for exploring the City and close to bars and restaurants. Super friendly staff, who allowed us to check in early, which was much appreciated as we got soaked walking from the Tram stop. Room was comfortable and clean.

Nothing to not like, for a City Hotel you expect rooms to be slightly smaller at the price we paid! The only niggle was a make up mirror in the bathroom would have been a welcome addition. Lighting was quite bright overhead for relaxing in the evening, a dimmer light would have been nice.

Definitively the location in the old city is very central and so comfortable (we wanted to stay in the old city). Room comfortable and clean. The availability and the kindness at reception.

We did not book the breakfast because too expensive. Only in one case we had it but the cost was not worth. The offer of the products is poor: e.g. the fruits' choice was limited and the fruits were not really fresh (oranges or bananas were old) Definitively not worth for 13,50 pounds.

Could not beat the location - just off the Royal mile. Room was great - I had a view over Hunter Square (Room 401). Good size room, and bed was very comfortable. The area can be lively at night as there are bars and clubs nearby, but the sound is completely excluded by the two sets of windows, so did not disturb at all. Overall would definitely recommend staying here.

The breakfast was a little lacking. No obvious vegetarian option for the meat elements of the cooked breakfast such as a vegetarian sausage. It would be a nice thing to offer, even if cooked to order.

We stayed here for three nights and booked two rooms - double and twin. The location was the best thing about this hotel - it is right on the Royal Mile and you can easily walk to the castle and explore the city. There are lots of places to eat and drink around the hotel and it was a nice place to have a base. Check-in process was easy as was the check-out process.

It would have been nice if we had been given water daily, but it is a budget hotel so we understand and the supermarket is very close by.
