I would have rated this higher than 8/10, were it not for the reception at arrival. We had only just booked through booking.com and the receptionist told us it took about 10 mins to get through to her. Very strange as I already had the confirmation number, but 'no', we had to wait. While we were waiting, three! different guests/couples walked in ( 'Any availability?) booked on the spot and were swiftly helped with a big smile. When I tried again to get our room, I was told to sit down and wait. NO hurry for us. It took 30 mins! The hotel was fine, no noise from the street, friendly staff at breakfast and when we left the next morning, there were 3 different people sitting at reception who all waved nicely good bye. The hotel is a bit outdated, but we did not book top luxury. Great location for walks from there. The 11km walk partly through the wood along the river was great. Breakfast was good. We ate after the groups had left, so very quiet.

Good buffet full breakfast, evening meals with varied menu, well-presented and at reasonable cost. Excellent location at the edge of town within easy distance of High Street shops etc. Single room was well-apportioned and comfortable. Bed had the two best pillows I have had in any hotel. Adequate parking in front of hotel. Without exception, every member of staff was helpful, courteous and friendly.
Nothing from my view to dislike, in common with a lot of hotels of this size and age, some areas could do with a lick of new paint, but this is a very minor point and did not really detract from my overall experience

The bed was very comfortable. We ate at a very good Indian food restaurant in town just 10 minutes walking from the hotel, which was a very pleasant surprise.
Walls are thin and you can easily hear other guests. Additionally, they could do something to avoid doors smashing. Overall, the hotel is in urgent need of a renovation that looks it has not happened in the last 40 years. Changing the carpet, renovating the bathrooms, etc that would make it a lot more cozier, and better value for the price. Breakfast was underwhelming, very bare. Even when an item was finished they did not replenish it.

The staff were excellent. The food was very good. The bar was good but a little pricy. Music was at a good level and very pleasant. Our room was a good size with a lovely bay window and seats and table to look out into the gardens. Bed was comfy and furniture was good.
Our room..... It had a very bad odour. It was difficult to get the hot tap to dispense water. And what it did was cold even after letting it run for ages. The handle inside the shower was missing. The light had gone in the entrance to our room so couldn't see our clothes in the wardrobe.

Impressive hotel. Lovely seating areas in downstairs lounge and conservatory.
Beds were a bit on the hard side. We felt that more attention should be given to keeping all breakfast choices replenished. On the first morning, there was no fresh fruit salad, no yoghurt, no croissants/pastries and hardly any cheese/continental style meat but plenty of bacon, sausages etc. Had to ask for these things and felt this shouldn't have been the case. It felt like the early birds had been catered for but anyone who came in afterwards got what was left. This was better on the second morning. A staff member paid attention.

It was nice to have a seating area to watch the Olympics on the tv. It’s also very easy to get to and a short walk to a few different food places if needed. We were lucky to be in a quieter section of the hotel.
I found the bed slightly uncomfortable, I think a mattress topper could have made or a lot better as you could feel the springs and where the beds were brought a together. One of the blinds in our room was broken but that wasn’t a massive deal, but we found the room to be quite cold when we came in. The doors are also quite loud, so we were woken up by others leaving their rooms.

I was looking for a hotel somewhere nice with a good rate just to get some work done without distractions for a few days and this was perfect. The staff were all friendly. Room was warm and the bathroom was spotless, shower looked new. Didn’t try the breakfast but the dinners in the restaurant were great (I heard praises coming from people at nearby tables too). Good location, easy to get to by public transport and the park right opposite was nice for a short walk (or a long one maybe, it had paths going a lot of different ways). I saw some deer there.
I could kind of feel the springs in the mattress. Needs a new one in that room or a topper or something.

I was very pleased with my most comfortable stay. I was in room 508, in what looked like a new extension. All facilities were excellent and clean. I would definitely stay with you again on a similar trip to the area. I would also happily recommend the Craiglynne Hotel.
Nothing really, happy with everything - perhaps a choice of customer preferred eggs at breakfast time - everyone does scrambled eggs as it is more convenient. Poached eggs would have been good - only a very small suggestion. Overall, very pleased, would come again.

I booked 'King Room with Garden View', a lovely large room very clean and presentable on arrival, fully furnished, tv, kettle with items for making tea, coffee, hairdryer and towels supplied. Bed comfy, I note other reviews remarking on poor decor of some rooms, room 128/Glenfarclas in good decorative order as was the bathroom, shower adequate. All staff, reception and restaurant staff excellent, as a coeliac I requested gluten free options, dinner and breakfast delicious, breakfast served as buffet, staff served me seperately from kitchen to avoid cross contamination issues, I felt staff went out of their way to accommodate me which was very reassuring. Highly recommend
Leaving to go home !

The hotel is in a fantastic location. Beautiful externally and internally although our room was a bit dated, it did have a wonderful large window. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful.
The drinks in the bar were a bit overpriced and even though it stated they had so many kinds of gin, the girl behind the bar wasn't familiar with what they actually did have and it seemed that the "regular & popular" gins like pink gin, blood orange etc she just didn't have. The room was a bit dated and could do with some modernisation. Breakfast was ok.
