Location was perfect, right next to Piece Hall. Parking provided for £5. Apparently a bar is being built, which will be a good addition. Staff were nice & accomodating

Room was very warm, with only 1 window to open. Fan provided was very noisy. Privacy blinds for window could be considered, as people at the bar across the road could see us changing, and would also keep more light out than the curtains provided. Bathroom and corridors were quite old & dated. But seems like some renovation works are ongoing in the stairwells, so hopefully this will extend into other areas.

Staff very nice and accommodating. I had left my previous place at 11pm as it really wasn't good at all. Was very tired when I got there and asked if any chance of room with bath...which I hadn't booked. They spent a while finding me a room, not overlooking a noisy road and I was so happy. Also...the actually had hair conditioner which is rare..usually just shampoo. Big thanks

Not really bad but...would be good to have a hairdryer in the room....everything else great.

Fabulous location near to The Piece Hall. Visited on the day it reopened following renovation. Not all facilities open yet only the reception area, which seemed to be decorated to a high standard. Looking forward to returning again when fully reopened.

Our room was in need of a little updating. The bed was comfortable but very small.

Excellent location and very friendly staff. I got the impression this is a family run hotel which is working to improve.

A larger bathroom and shower would have been nice, and although the hotel are clearly working to improve the joiner is lacking because the bathroom door wouldn't close (room 210).

I was aware from reviews that the hotel was in the process of having work done - hence the lower room charge so I was prepared for some slight hiccups - but there weren't any. Staff were friendly and helpful. There are a lot of plans to upgrade the hotel over time and I look forward to staying again, it is perfectly located for the train station and the town etc.

There isn't a lift so less able people may find it a problem - but this is clearly stated in the description, so no nasty surprises! There was a problem with sound transmission from the next door room - I could almost join in the conversation with one of the guests - luckily they were only one nighters! Maybe sound deadening wall coverings might be included in the refurb. A couple of minor cleanliness probs - radiator control was rather grubby as was the extractor fan but otherwise no worries,

All the staff were friendly and helpful, though a little bit dated the room had all we needed. The room and bathroom were both clean with a comfortable bed and clean linen and good quality towels. The free parking across the road is so handy and the hotel is in a fantastic location for the piece hall and the town centre. It was our 2nd stay and I’ve booked to go back in February.

The air conditioning unit or whatever it is was on the wall outside our window and was on constantly. It didn’t bother my partner but for me as a light sleeper it was very noticeable. I still slept tho but it took me a while. It wasn’t something that ruined our stay and as I’d heard the receptionist already say the hotel was full I didn’t ask about swapping rooms, it hasn’t put me off staying again.

This hotel has character. It's not one of those sterile modern places. The room prices, which includes free parking right in the town centre make this place a no brainer. The staff is absolutely lovely. It is right in the town centre, 1 min from the train station, 2 min from Piece Hall, great to leave your car behind and just explore the town by foot.

We didn't like that the hotel was fully booked, when we wanted to come back a week later, and we had to find something else. :-)

Although the room was very small it was very clean. The bed linen & towels were lovely & fresh. We didn’t get our room cleaned while we stayed(5 nights) but found out later that we had to ask for this. All the staff were happy to get us the supplies we needed, but we had to ask at reception, just wish someone would have explained this!

We booked breakfast but was told on arrival that it was not available. Hotel said they were having work done & only available at the weekend and that they had asked Booking.com to contact us( although on reflection I realised the Hotel had all our contact details!!! ) Booking.Com said it was about Covid & it said so on the website when we booked 🤔

This was an overnight business stop, arriving late & leaving early. Facilities were clean and comfortable. Chose not to take a breakfast (prefer to eat later in a morning)Space available in room was a good deal less than that found in most travel hotels, but for my purposes, travelling alone, it was perfectly adequate and good value.

As above, for a single traveller the room was perfectly adequate, if I was needing a room for 2 it would feel a bit less spacious
