The room was great, nice carpet, Bed was comfortable but i am usually used to a King size but think was smaller in the room we had. bathroom tiled, tv, kettle with coffee and tea and a wardrobe. We were next to another building but didn't spoil our stay. Lovely bar, restaurant had a tiled floor which was nice and tables set up nice for breakfasts etc. Breakfast was continental with cereal, meats, cheese with the added touch of strawberries that my girlfriend liked and toast and croissants, tea and coffee and juices. Very near to all takeaways , restaurants but food available and think Jamaican in the hotel. Also not far away from the pubs. There is private car parks near by but i chose a little further one on Prescott street . Council run and free on Sundays and after 6pm and no more than 5 mins walk at the most. Could not fault it at all. Happy with our stay there.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the building is a beautiful old tavern recently refurbished, the room was comfortable, well furnished and immaculately clean. It is really well located to access everything - minutes fron the railway station. I had a view past a church spire to the green hills of the Calder Valley. I'd definitely stay again - bonus to be supporting a local business but mainly it's very good value for money compared with for example a Premier Inn. I was in Halifax for work, but loved the town as well - seriously, the Piece Hall would grace any city in Europe.

No negatives really - the owners also run a restaurant downstairs but it's not open late, and another time I'd try eating there. Looked delicious, and some other guests said they enjoyed it.

I booked this hotel late at night not realizing it was 30 minutes from Leeds train station. However, Halifax location was down hill litterly 6 minutes away. We caught a train to Leeds main station which took only 25 minutes and made our onward journey. The staff couldn't be more helpful. The front desk gentleman helped me get on the internet even though it was late in the evening. Next morning, the continental breakfast was excellent....ham & cheese, 2 kinds of juice, fine selection of cold cereal, coffee or tea....all very filling and tasty . And the cost was very inexpensive compared to the cost of lodging near the Leeds main train station. I'm a happy camper and would highly recommend this hotel. Oh and let me add, in this day and age where you need lots of outlets to charge you electronics....the room had 5, count'em 5 places around the room to plug in the computer, cell phone, I Pad, and rechargeable hearing aids!!!

No lift or escalator just steep stair case, but the front desk offered to carry my one heavy bag. I'm old!! and a little arthritus in the hip...but as I said, the front desk clerk carried my bag up the 2 flights of steps.

The manager Joseph was absolutely wonderful, extremely welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was lovely, the bed very comfy and very nice facilities with some extra little touches like the bottled water and cosy blanket on top of the bed.

We chose this hotel for its very close vicinity to the theatre because my mum has limited mobility. Unfortunately there wasn’t a lift to our room so the trip up the stairs was difficult for her. However we loved everything else about it so would definitely go again.

Very clean and comfortable room and facilites, with friendly staff on arrival and departure. Were able to use the small onsite parking and was allowed to continue to use it after our checkout prior to new arrivals.

Only negatitive was the continental breakfast which wasn't replenished. No juice remained, limited bread and only one breakfast bowl. There didn't seem anybody available to ask for any additional items until we were leaving dining area, and then we couldn't be bothered. Having the onsite and parking during and after stay more than made up for this to be honest.

We were in room 28 which was large and the be was was a very impressive piece of furniture. The bathroom was also large and the room very clean. Rich was the member of staff we dealt with and was absolutely excellent. We managed to park for free in one of the few available spaces on the short drive next to the hotel. There is other nearby parking, other than the 8 or so spaces in the carpark next door which does have silly hours. We didn't eat in the restaurant as we had reservations elsewhere, however the menu is Carribbean and did have some options that sounded really nice. We also didn't use the bar, but it had some nice choices of beer...Madrid etc The building is actually really lovely, with a classic feel. In terms of location it's close to the centre. Breakfast was continental, toast, cereals, pastries etc and set us up for the day. I would definitely use the Shakespeare again next time I come to Halifax. Thanks Rich for your excellent customer service.

Perhaps having an ironing board and iron...but I'm sure rich could have sourced if we had asked.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Rick even waited outside the hotel when we got a little lost so we could spot where we should be. Excellent service. Although only continental breakfast, it was very filling. The waffles were delicious and there was plenty of fruit. The room and onsuite we're spacious, well decorated and very clean and comfortable. The hotel has newly been refurbished to a good level.

Parking was a little tricky as the car park is small but then we do have a big car. With careful maneuvering we did manage to park.

Great location, right hear the train station and the Piece Hall. Stayed in the Green Room no 28. Really comfortable, great bed and lovely shower. The Ren toiletries were a touch of luxury. Continental breakfast 8- 10 am. Good range of cereals, pastries, tea, coffee etc. Special shout out to Rick - really lovely. Friendly, helpful and polite. Didn't get chance to try out the Caribbean cuisine, but the menu sounded amazing- will definitely try next time we visit.

Location is perfect. The staff is super nice and will really try their best to make your stay comfortable and pleasant. My original room had old windows so it was really loud but I got another room in a more peaceful part of the hotel without any fuss. The rooms are big and comfortable, the bed was great. The bathroom floor could do with a wash, but it was not bad. Similar for bathroom towels, they were clean but had stains.
