We decided to stay here to break the journey from Brighton to Wallasey. Very pleased with our choice. Loved the decor of our room , at the bottom of the garden. We sat in the fab beer garden on a lovely evening, before going inside for our delicious, well presented meal. Slept well,apart from the thoughtless guests next door very loud arriving back 3am to 4am. That was just unlucky and not the Hotels fault. The well presented breakfast was excellent also and the lady looking after us was lovely also. Certainly hope to return. Thank you so much 😁

We stayed in one of the separate chalets adjacent to the pub garden which was very clean, comfortable and warm. Spacious bathroom with decent shower and good coffee/tea-making facilities. The proprietor, Chris, could not have been more friendly or helpful as were all of the staff we met during our stay. Very welcoming, cosy and warm pub interior and a nice pint of Banks's best bitter in the bar!!

Access to the village of Catherine-de-Barnes is suffering from major road-works thanks to HS2 which has resulted in quite long detours from the M42. But that is not the fault of the White Lion. Could possible do with a lick of paint on the pub exterior to better reflect the comfort on the inside?

The location was great - in a nice village and its an historic pub. The room was nice and there was plenty of tea and coffee available. I did eat there on an evening - menu looked great though the food I had was OK rather than great. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent - 10 out of 10 for that.

I wouldn't say I didn't like it but be aware that the pub doesn't actually open until 5pm so when they say check in from 5, this is why! The water pressure is low as one might expect from an old building so the shower wasn't great but it was tolerable. Further, remember that you are in a pub. It wasn't noisy per se but you can expect to hear music until 11ish. The beer is pricey (£6.70 for a pint of Brixton Volt).

The staff were friendly and check in was very simple. Breakfast was lovely and again staff were friendly and attentive. Room was compact but lovely and clean. The room was a short walk away from the pub area and we couldn't hear any noise at all from the pub. Our reason for travelling here was that we had a meal booked at Smoke at Hampton Manor, and this place was only a 3 minute walk away which was perfect.

There were no main lights in the room we stayed in, there were only 2 lamps which made getting ready in the evening a little difficult. The water pipes in the room were very old. There were no issues with the water pressure etc, but the pipes were banging a few times during the night and in the morning that lasted some time and did cause some disturbance.

Staff were delightful, really nice people. Location was great for us to go to a wedding at Hampton Manor, the breakfast was great, and there was ample parking. The room itself was big enough and it was very comfortable and clean. Bonus points that they got our room ready early for us to get ready in!

It’s a very old property and it shows. The bathrooms could do with renovation but I imagine the plumbing system is ancient. Loads of low doorways and beams to watch out for if you’re over 5 foot tall…

Myself and my mum stayed at the White Lion as we had a concert at the Resorts World Arena. The train station is just a 5 minute walk away from the Inn, with just a 3 minute train to the arena, and a 15 minute train to the centre of Birmingham for some shopping. The Inn itself was lovely, really cosy and lots of good food on offer.

Our only complaint was that the heating wasn’t on when we arrived and it was freezing in the room. We arrived back late and couldn’t figure out how to turn the radiator on, and since there was a portable heater in the room we assumed it might be broken. In the morning I had another look and managed to get it on, so it was our fault but just a warning to keep trying if you can’t get it on!! A note on how to work it might be useful :)

Quaint pub ideally located for my nearby business event. Parking is a plus. The bedroom is not in the main pub. Outside walk 20 seconds to a collection of what used to be old terrace cottages or a barn maybe many many years ago. The room was quite twee (which was endearing) a bedroom and bathroom. Very small but extremely cosy and warm. The bed and pillows were the best bit. Very comfortable. Clean, tea coffee, towels supplied. I didn't realise breakfast was included until the last day.breakfadt was inside the cute pub and very nice. Overall great value, friendly staff and will be returning every 8 weeks due to work travel

I wouldn't say I disliked anything. A few things to mention. The shower was not high enough for me at 5'9". It was unpredictable from hot to warm then cold. A few extra milks would be great. The path to my part of the cottage in the corner was very dark and slippery with leaves. I had to put my phone torch on so I could have good visibility. Maybe a light outside that door would be helpful. The pluses definitely outweigh thebtweaks.

This is a really quirky hotel. Log fire was great, staff very friendly, dog friendly which was brilliant, Rupert our Labrador was very happy there. Lovely home made leek and potato soup and my husband had a lovely home made beef bourgeoisie which he said was gorgeous , beef just fell apart. Thank you chef. Our room was really quirky with squeaky floor boards, high uneven ceiling but so cosy and warm. Thank you all for making us feel so welcome

Great location for the NEC with the train station in walking distance making It very easy to get to concert and back , very comfortable bed and room had some great touches like tea and coffee making with biscuits as well as free toiletries. The facilities downstairs were great and very country-like and had a great range of food and drink. Breakfast was very nice too. Staff were very helpful, friendly and checked me and partner in earlier and fast when waiting also good communication prior to this. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to visit Birmingham and miss all the traffic aswell as getting free parking. Would stay again. Thankyou :)

I felt the room was rather chilly but made up by an electric fan heater, didn't know how to get the heated towel rail on in bathroom so was chilly in there. I understand the check in at 5pm is linked to the pub opening times but would be nice to possibly have the option of an earlier check in if possible perhaps, although it did work out fine in the end as we got to NEC arena in time for concert.

This is a pub with rooms, very nice old pub, very well looked after. There is a bar area and a restaurant area, we had a great time there. The rooms a very cute, low ceilings and charming as you would expect it. Great location, we went to the Hampton Manor for food so this place was just up the road and perfect place to stay for us. Dog friendly Very friendly staff

I think we stayed in Room 1- the only negative for me was, please put in a door or at least a curtain or something between the bathroom and the bedroom- I found it very unforgettable and so did my husband.
