I appreciated the phone call prior to our arrival to ascertain our anticipated arrival time and would we require any food prepared. The hotel staff are relaxed but helpful and the hotel itself is a true boutique style establishment. Food was excellent and the morning coffee really hit the spot. Underhill village town has a cinema and various fast food establishments if you need a snack or entertainment.

Not much really. We stayed in an upper floor room with a wonderful view of the gardens and lake. I believe that there are ground floor rooms in separate units away from the main building but I cannot comment on these as we never went into them.

Great place to stay for a long weekend, the annex rooms were clean and extremely spacious - ours had a large lounge area with an excellent flat screen TV and two sofas, alongside that was a separate bedroom and ensuite bath/shower room. We also had access to a second bedroom with its own en suite bathroom. Breakfast was in the main building with views out onto the front lawn and the sun terrace - it consisted of self select cereals, fruit juice and fruit, followed by a waitress served hot breakfast of your choice - excellent. Location wise, the hotel is next door to a garden centre with cafe and close to the facilities in Haverhill. We used the hotel as a base for a concert at Audley End near Saffron Walden which is about 30 minutes away by car across some lovely countryside, its also about the same distance to Cambridge.

Can't really fault the room, other than perhaps having a fridge and only one of the usb sockets on the electrical outlets seemed to be working.

The rooms were lovely and situated in a garden with sitting areas , the grounds of the hotel were lovely and we sat watching the wildlife of rabbits , squirrels birds. The staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent dinner on the first night. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast lovely, well cooked and plenty to eat , excellent choice for cereal. All in all a lovely stay and will be visiting again

The only small draw back was as it was patio doors we felt we couldn't open them at night and was a bit warm . Though we still had a lovely sleep. And maybe a mini fridge as we had drinks.

Great location and really quiet

Electric Shower wasn’t powerful and I found cobwebs above the curtains, behind the TV and between the spotlights. It seems like the cleaners don’t look upwards when cleaning

We wanted to meet and dine with family who live local to Sturmer Hall and the location was perfect. The warm welcome, good food and the opportunity to spend time together afterwards unhurriedly was much appreciated by all so we very much enjoyed our stay.

There was nothing to dislike, but the property clearly has to work hard as a venue and there are some visible signs of tiredness. Some of the signage on the drive and at the house is hard to read which did trouble our family a little when they came to dine with us.

Lovely location with lovely grounds. We had a garden room, which was quite large. Enjoyed our breakfast on both mornings - even though we were the only guests on the second day, full English was stilled served. We met relatives on the first day but the second day we just wanted to relax. We had a nice walk around the grounds, the churchyard - which was very interesting and visited the garden centre at the bottom of the road and the local pub. Strange being on our own there but nice and relaxing.

Everything was ok.

Such a lovely place, I traveled for business in Cambridge as usual every month but this time with my daughter, this is the reason I stayed in Haverhill and not in Cambridge. She was staying during the day with the daughter of my collègue. She had a blast and was so sad to leave. She loved watching the rabbits and giving grass to the horses. Such a special experience.

Bed a little small Window at the ceiling without a blind

The grounds are stunning and a lovely little venue The views over the fields was amazing and the rabbits was cute to watch The rooms in the outbuilding was adequate for a 1 night stay The breakfast was lovely and the staff friendly

The room was on the small side and the furniture outside could do with a little jetwash.

Beautiful Manor house. The owner was very welcoming as he spoke to guests by the fireplace. The room was unexpectedly and delightfully very warm for an old building, even the renovated, modern, huge bathroom had underfloor heating! The huge open grounds areas were immaculately taken care of and provided a fantastic area to star gaze at night and watch the rabbits and pheasants in the morning.

Arriving at 5pm, it was dark and it was hard to find the parking area. A sign would have been helpful for the drop off area and the overnight parking area.

Good welcome. Friendly helpful staff, excellent breakfast. An amazing hotel and grounds.

We had an amazing suite, with a very comfortable lounge. The only complaint was that there was only a double bed when there was plenty of room for a king. THE ONLY COMPLAINT!
