We received a really warm welcome from Josh, who was also incredibly polite and helpful the following day. We were impressed by the family 'room', which was essentially a big suite with two distinct bedrooms and individual bathrooms. There was plenty of space, the beds were comfy and the shower was perfect. Breakfast was excellent. Our vegetarian needs being well catered for with high quality ingredients. Finally, a quick word of thanks to Nick, who looked after the bar with good humour. In short, the Crown was a wonderful base for visiting this interesting region.

Our room was in the annex behind the Inn and was reached via a metal exterior staircase. Our room was very spacious clean and well furnished. There was plenty of storage and excellent wifi with tea and coffee making facilities. We had a decent TV with a good reception. The room was very warm but we were able to turn our radiator down to suit our needs. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice well cooked the only fault being the eggs in particular on my wifes breakfast of smoked salmon were hard. I was able to park in the Inns courtyard although there is very easy parking outide on the road pavement area. The staff were very good especially the lady who booked us in upon arrival.

The eggs !

Very quaint and inviting property. The bed bathroom very clean with NO mould or musky smells. Welcomed in fact by the smell of homely cooked food. A good nights sleep we had especially as our room was above Long Medford main road. Breakfast was well worth having very tasty and just the right portion size. The waiter was very attentive and pleasant. Check-in and out was good too. We would stay here again.

Just the amount of cobwebs in the breakfast area on the windows so not good to sit near the windows and you have a spider phobia. Only negative comment about our room was that the TV and unit was extremely dusty which had been on there for a fair while.

The warm roaring fires and the historical feel are the place together with modern bathroom facilities.

Breakfast was just average. Bacon hard. I was the only person in the restaurant…. You are not asked if you would like more coffee, although I suspect you could have more if you wanted it. The breakfast room would be nicer with a little background music (nothing too loud but you need to be able to relax). The lady waitress was nice. The gentleman was professional but seemed rather aloof.

The location of the hotel is perfect and within walking distance of everything in the village. If you want a luxury hotel this is not for you, but if you are looking for a basic, warm, clean central hotel with good service this is perfect.

Though I would 100% stay again, due to its location and the pleasant welcome and service we received from the owner and his team, I felt the hotel could benefit from redecoration to bring it up to a modern standard, I also felt the breakfast was very limited for vegetarians, though the owner did say if we let him know in advance he could have got in some vegetation alternatives. With vegetarianism being very common now I did not think to do this especially as we had dinner there the night before which had a good selection of vegetarian dishes. I usually stay in a different hotel in Long Melford and they offer avocado on toast with mushrooms and beans which is pretty easy to do as not all like meat substitutes.

Staff were friendly and informative. My room was clean and comfortable. It was quiet and i had a reasonable sleep. The breakfast was lovely. Like the toiletries n the iron and ironing board had been left out in corridoor. Id text asking earlier about this and hairdryers. The hosts made an effort n obviously work hard. There are some rooms that have a bath and shower my friends didn't so maybe ask if you have a preference. Abulity to come in at night without disturbing others or walk through the pub.

The door to the accomodation at the top of the stairs is a menace. I always think a few more milk purdels for 2 cups of tea. One of the rooms had a feature wall which we thought wasn't as nice as the plain white due to the old walls. Because of the old building remember how uneven flooring can be when walking around if you are unsteady on you feet.

The service was excellent. I attended a Birthday lunch and the meal was lovely, breakfast the following morning was great too. Parking is difficult but the boss kept an eye on what was available and even kept the space for me so that I could park close to the property because the car park was full

The room was a typical single room, rather basic but perfectly adequate. I always hope they will be better than expected but they seldom are

I stayed here for one night from the moment I entered this very well-kept beautiful building I felt welcomed. I booked a single room number 7 which I found to be spacious with a high ceiling, nicely decorated, comfortable bed, large bathroom with an excellent shower and high end very nice toiletries. Went down into the bar/restaurant area in the evening and had haddock and chips which was Great value for money with excellent service, will be a returning guest when in the area.

The room was spacious and the staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was cooked well and the produce was delicious and of good quality. We ate dinner at the Inn also. The food was good but a little pricey for what it was.

The bed mattress was uncomfortable and the room was incredibly hot. (There was a locked cupboard in the room that housed the boiler for the accommodation block that our room was in. It was belching out heat.) The manager provided us with a small AC unit which helped to cool the room down. The room also needs blackout curtains. The wooden window blinds let (a lot of) daylight in from around 4am onwards. Finally the outside steps to the accommodation which led to our room and one other room were littered with cigarette ends from previous occupants. The steps didn't appear to have been swept recently.

Hotel is a bit of a hidden gem I think. Very reasonably priced room and located in the high street in beautiful Long Melford. Food and drink were quite expensive to make up for it. Our room was clean and comfortable.

Although it didn't spoil our stay, where we stayed out the back was a little bit tatty. We had a particularly strong rain shower at one point and rain was leaking into the foyer of the accommodation block. It didn't effect us however.
