the location

we stayed in the stables and some cars went down the road with some speed you had to be care full when opening the door to the accommodation quite dangerous when booking in the staff chatted to somebody telling a Storey when he was having a bath I had to interrupt the conversation to find out where we were staying

Friendly staff, comfortable beds, fair prices, and an amazing location. We stayed for one evening while passing through on our way further south. I have spent a great deal of time around the area of the Blackdown Hills over the last couple of decades and never spotted this place. It's a hidden gem. The location is beautiful and well kept. There is also the opportunity for some fishing in one of the ponds. The restaurant is also lovely. Everything we ordered was fantastic and, again, fairly priced. We didn't get to fully experience everything that this location had to offer, given that we only stayed for one evening. We are planning to revisit for longer in the future.

Rooms upstairs in the main building are extremely hot during periods of good weather (rare though they may seem). This was also in part due to a heating pipe running through our room, which could not be switched off. This was mitigated somewhat by the provided fan, which was already available in the room. However, I ended up sleeping on top of the covers. The area would also be perfect for star gazing. However, the property has many very bright lights switched on at all hours, ruining low light vision. This is perfectly understandable for safety reasons. However, it was a bit of shame.

Location, comfortable room, hot shower. Lovely hotel.

We were aware that the hotel was dog friendly. However, we did not realise that they were allowed in the restaurant. We would like to have been given the option to sit away from people who had their dogs with them. We don't mind dogs, but we can't understand why they have to be in restaurants now. This seems to be a big thing atm. There, are, believe it or not, people who don't have dogs and maybe like us are getting a bit fed up with sharing spaces with them. It's fine in country pubs and where there is no food being served. Or, a separate area would be good.

We came to Honiton to do a skydive and driving experience and Lakeview was the perfect location for this, only 5 mins drive away. Beautiful grounds with a lake, we sat out in the evening around the firepit and children roasted marshmallows and some other kids played football on the field. A nice chilled out family atmosphere. The food at dinner and breakfast was lovely but there was a long wait for breakfast.

The rooms are a bit dated but fine. My parents said they had no hot water in their basin tap. My mum who's in a wheelchair wasn't able to use the shower as there was nothing for her to hold onto.

We liked the location and area. It was very peaceful and soothing and as we had travelled for a funeral it was just what we needed. food was great, the service quick and very pleasant and prices very reasonable. The unit consisted of two bedrooms which were very comfortable and clean . The lounge area was of a good size and very light and the small storage room was great for putting all our cases and coats in. We would definitely stay here again and for longer

This is only a small issue but The shower cubicle was a bit of a challenge as the door opened outward and some of the bigger individuals had problems manoeuvring around this as the bathroom door was immediately behind you. However when in the shower it was lovely and warm and had a good flow.

The whole stay was great. The room although not massive, was warm, cosy and spotlessly clean. It had everything you could wish for. Comfortable bed, large shower, all the usual facilities. It was especially good as we took our dog, which the room catered for. In addition there was a nice outside seating space in front of the room, albeit the weather put a stop to us using that. The staff were superb, attentive, very polite and helpful at all times, as was the restaurant allowing us to take the dog in with us for breakfast and evening dinner instead of leaving her in the room alone. As for the food, well this was amazing, Great breakfast options cooked as requested, plus home cooked foods for dinner, great variety on offer especially the specials. Highly recommend the Lamb Shank, what a meal that was. You will not be disappointed with the food. Also the grounds are very nice as well with the ponds, the fountains and the grounds to walk round, its a very nice and relaxing location.

Having to leave to come home. 😋

The hotel was really nice building in a beautiful setting. We had an excellent meal in the evening, and then breakfast was a really tasty selection of freshly cooked food. The bar area was very nice for a pint of Otter Amber and the outside terrace was very pleasant to sit out in the sun. We have a room with two bedrooms which were well equipped and the beds were very comfortable. The staff were very friendly. Overall an excellent stay - thanks!

The room was quite hot overnight even with all the radiators off and windows open which is going to be checked by the team. Room 6 could hear some of the snoring in the room next door.

Was glad of Satnav to locate but happy with accommodation and facilities offered. Not obvious from prospectus that it combined hotel with lodges for family and fishing holidays around a lake and in an area designated of natural beauty. Could therefore be quite crowded. Undoubtedly good centre for exploring but car very necessary as quite out of the way. Excellent value at price offered.

Room furnished to modern standards and excellent quality if a little cramped. Facilities suitable for children and family holidays rather than those of a country hotel which is how it appeared on Website.

That our furry friend was not charged additional felt the price was right for bed and breakfast included just disappointed that the pictures on the website did not highlight the rooms disadvantages, roadway directly outside and no space to easily move around the bed walked straight into it from the doorway and edged around the foot to get into any kind of space😕 was expecting more comfort looking a little tired in decor too. Dinner and breakfast were good and the staff we're very friendly great welcome and service throughout. Beautiful setting in the countryside.

Facilities and comfort l have marked down as the shower was poor, cracked bath put of using it and room size very small for a king bedroom no seating area just enough room for luggage overnight stay doable but not for any further length of time. Low ceiling with no space to move was claustrophobic with the main road to the adjoining lodges outside the door of the bedroom we were concerned about noise and felt rooms 6-7 should be one room as others in the same stable block, also heard noise from room above thank goodness the occupants were relatively quiet. Felt overpriced on room size.

We loved the location and the beautiful ponds and woodlands. The accommodation was exceptional. The room was modern yet tastefully inkeeping with the age of the manor. It was spotlessly clean. The beds were really comfortable with lovely high-quality bedding. Attention to detail was met constantly. The staff were extremely friendly and always happy to chat. The food was excellent.

We didn't like leaving to come home! We can't wait to come back. A mini fridge in the room would have been very useful.
