The staff is very friendly, from reception to restaurant ! We arrived very late and the staff got well preparation to help us check-in. They are every patient. The breakfast is great too. They specifically prepared some tomato and mushrooms for my vegetarian taste and it’s yummy!
The bathroom can be improved and the water cannot flow smoothly.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Old North Inn. The staff was very friendly and helpful, always making jokes and smiling. Breakfast was really nice, especially because they were homemade. A good selection of items to include in your breakfast. The bed in our room was so comfortable! The room had a good size and both the room and bathroom were very clean, big shower as well! A nice surprise was that the TV in our room had access to Netflix and Prime Video which meant we could watch a movie or show to wind down after dinner. The bar on the ground floor has a pool table that tourists can enjoy after a day of sightseeing or hiking, alongside a pint, whisky (a massive selection) or cocktail (I recommend the peach gin cocktail).
Although we really enjoyed the carrot soup and my partner ordered chicken in whisky sauce with mashed potatoes, which he liked too, the prawn cocktail (too much mayo sauce and prawns could be bigger) and vegetable curry (tasted a bit processed :c ) could use some improvement. Something that could be improved in the room could be the pressure in the shower. But honestly these are just minor details that didn't take the smiles off our faces throughout our stay anyways ;) Everything else was excellent and good value for money!

The first thing to say is that the staff are extremely hospitable, friendly and down to earth and this creates a really nice atmosphere at the hotel. The food is also very good, the breakfast set up is excellent, and the dinner menu that we experienced (only the bar menu) was hearty, tasty and well portioned, if a little limited- though I think there is a restaurant menu we never saw. The rooms in the hotel, and parts of the hotel itself are little bit tired and might benefit from a little modernisation but this is well in keeping with the price and doesn't really detract from the experience.
Other than previously mentioned modernisation (but this didn't really bother me), I would say that road facing rooms can get a little noisy, especially if you have a window cracked open. I don't think anything can really be done about this unfortunately though.

A variety of choices for breakfast. I had dinner in the restaurant on two nights, the Balmoral Chicken was exceptional. My room was spacious and would have also suited a couple with one child. The heated towel rail was very good. Free on site parking and only 15 minutes to Beauly and Inverness.
The smart TV was limited in the channels which I could choose from, I did receive some help from a member of staff, perhaps we were both not so tech savvy. A mirror on the left side of the bed would be useful when using the hairdryer as there was a plug at waist height. The cord of the hairdryer was a short curly one and the only mirror in the room was above the desk, but the plug was close to floor level, therefore not compatible with being able to look in the mirror while drying your hair.

We were made to feel welcome from the very first second we arrived and shown all the exit doors if you were to stay out late and needed to get back in ,the room was clean and comfy ,and had all the usual things in them. The pub is amazing and lovely to mix with the locals and only intended to have a few beers and a meal but we enjoyed ourselves so much and stayed till closing time and we got a tad tipsy to say the least ,Now for the BIG ONE !!! The Meal !!!! WOW!!!! I had the Halibut Fish and I have eaten fish at some of the top Michelin Stared Restaurants in London and Surrey and paid big money for that experience ,but this plate of fish is the first thing I think of when I think back on my whole Scotland Holiday and we say and did loads of amazing things but this meal topped everything and ,if I won the lottery I would fly to Scotland from anywhere in the world to eat this meal again .Truly Incredible .
Nothing at all everything was tip top from start to finnish

We had a lovely Dinner and because we had to leave early they supplied us with a nice take away breakfast. We had an unusual dinner mainly because we only wanted a small meal of a variety of food. The room was very good too with a wonderful view from our window. very clean and comfortable.
A notice to explain how to use the showers heater. As Australians we have never seen the system used at the hotel. Once I worked it out it made sense but my wife who showered before me did not manage to use it properly and was definitely in need of some instructions.

Owner / Staff were welcoming and I had great banter with the owner over various subjects. Plenty beer to choose from and the food was good too. The bed was really comfy and I slept great once the noisy people in the next room calmed down. The toilet / shower were spotless and There is more than ample parking space for visitors / guests.
If I was to be really really really fussy, the walls were thin and there was a family of late arrivals that did not care that other guests may be sleeping and made every noise possibly without consideration for others. This of course has nothing to do with the owners / staff and it didn’t bother me too much but I’d imagine it would be an issue for some.

The staff - nice, relaxed and supportive. The room - although basic, decent and comfortable. Good beds, clean bedsheets and towels, comfy mattresses, complimentary tea and coffee. The restaurant - very good dinner and breakfast. The location - on the roadside, but you need a car. Large parking.
The cleaning could be done thoroughly, especially on the hallway of the hotel. The toilet seat was not thoroughly cleaned and it had traces of former usage... I would recommend much more attention to the cleanliness of the bathrooms.

We arrived early but Jools toke us in and showed our beautiful spacious room with new bathroom and big tv (Netflix). After putting our suitcase in the room we had a drink in the bar and met some lovely locals. The night before we had a bad experience with food so the cook promised as a better dinner. And so it was; a perfect burger and salmon for me. We stayed here for two nights so we asked advice: what should we do the next day? Jools and a friendly local guy told us to go up to Dornoch beach and to see the lighthouse in Portmahomak. We had a amazing day and where warmly taking in the hotel back. Breakfast? Nothing to complain about; full breakfast, coffee, orange juice and cereals. Complementary coffee/ tea and cookies in the room. We had room number 1 with views of landscapes and forests. Enough parking on the hotel grounds. Thankfully to meet Jools (multitasking woman) and Edward the owner.
