We were very pleased with our stay at the Old North Inn. The staff was very friendly and helpful, always making jokes and smiling. Breakfast was really nice, especially because they were homemade. A good selection of items to include in your breakfast. The bed in our room was so comfortable! The room had a good size and both the room and bathroom were very clean, big shower as well! A nice surprise was that the TV in our room had access to Netflix and Prime Video which meant we could watch a movie or show to wind down after dinner. The bar on the ground floor has a pool table that tourists can enjoy after a day of sightseeing or hiking, alongside a pint, whisky (a massive selection) or cocktail (I recommend the peach gin cocktail).

Although we really enjoyed the carrot soup and my partner ordered chicken in whisky sauce with mashed potatoes, which he liked too, the prawn cocktail (too much mayo sauce and prawns could be bigger) and vegetable curry (tasted a bit processed :c ) could use some improvement. Something that could be improved in the room could be the pressure in the shower. But honestly these are just minor details that didn't take the smiles off our faces throughout our stay anyways ;) Everything else was excellent and good value for money!

It's a nice roadside inn in the middle of nowhere. We chose it (I am glad we did!) because the alternatives in Inverness town did not look very appealing. It has ample private parking. The rooms were compact, but had everything we needed. Good pressure in the shower. Very clean, very quiet. Comfortable beds. Good breakfasts and dinners. The bar and restaurant have free WiFi (very helpful because 4G signal is pretty weak in the area). Overall, it was a very pleasant experience! Special thanks go to the staff. The gentleman at the check-in desk, who also cooked and served our breakfasts, was extremely nice and helpful. And the young lady who waited on us at the dinner had a lovely sense of humour and a very good knowledge of local points of interest that she happily shared with us (thanks to her advice, we went to Chanonry Point to see the dolphins!).

WiFi signal was pretty weak inside the rooms, and with barely existing 4G is was a bit of a pain. An additional WiFi access point covering the first floor would be of a lot of help. Looking on the bright side, lack of Internet connection helped with digital detox :)

The breakfast selection was plentiful, typical of Scotland with yoghurt, cereal, fresh fruit, eggs, haggis, black pudding tomatoes, toast, bacon, sausage. Andrew served is with a smile and a delightful story or two. Our room faced the main road but it isn't busy at night so not a problem. The hotel has. great beer garden for outdoor seating and with such awesome weather we enjoyed it. The hotel, as stated, is out of town and a car is helpful but we met someone who arrived in Inverness by train and had no problem taking the bus right to the hotel!

I could hear my neighbor in his room a bit. It didn't bother me, but if you are a super light sleeper it's something to be aware of.

The staff was super friendly and our room was very clean and so cute. The bed was so comfortable and I'm very picky about my sleep. We stayed in room 3. Looks like the place has been remodeled on the inside. When we first pulled up and saw that the hotel was old looking on the outside I thought oh lord what have I booked us into. But the inside is very inviting and the staff is super. Had their meat pie for dinner and it was awesome!!!!!!

Our TV did not have internet access. The wifi was not working in our room. We didn't tell the front desk.

Very friendly staff. Excellent food. We had a refurbished room and it was very comfortable. The food is excellent value for money, especially the kids' menu. We had pinned a request for the staff after booking at the last minute, and they went over and above for us. Thank you. The kids were really impressed. The breakfast was cooked fresh aswell which we all enjoyed. We will be returning in the summer 😀

It was a very pleasant stay. However, the heating temperature in the room needs to be turned up. There was a small plug-in heater, but we didn't feel comfortable leaving this on during the night. The WiFi signal was excellent downstairs but intermittent in the room we had. I think with extra boosters could be used, it will help the signal upstairs in the rooms, especially for netflix(added bonus).

I honestly can not say a bad thing about my stay. I went with my partner and my small dog. The hotel was so good with us and our dog, allowed the dog to be with us at breakfast but at a different part but was fine, was close enough to go get toast n juice etc. Beer garden was nice to sit out in. Bar was lovely and was able to sit with dog. We didn't have dinner there. Location was fine for us as we jumped in car and went places, if you looking to be near city centre and not do much traveling then possible not place for you. Buss stop right outside that took us to city centre was only 20min or so. I'd say it's super dog friendly, all the staff where great, rooms were fine nothing to complain about, big bed, fridge which is perfect, plenty of storge, and bathroom is lovely loved it. Car park big and plenty place to park. Over all amazing stay, would stay again, we had 0 issues and I think they doing a good job getting back on track after covid. Maybe things could be improved but we were really not bothered about small details, it was a lovely place to sleep, eat and drink. Bonus is how good it was for dogs and plenty of dogs stayed there when we were there.

Unless I pick at small things which am not going too. So nothing, it was a lovely stay, would go back, staff doing fab job espically after covid I imagine things would of been hard. Great dog friendly hotel, highly recommend.

The Old North Inn was a hidden gem that ticks all the boxes for me. Not sure why it's rated as a 2 star hotel as the services and facilities are well above 3/4 stars in my opinion. It was a last minute booking after the hotel I originally booked had falsely advertised amenities they didn't actually have. Old North Inn is located just 5-10 mins outside of Edinburgh with a scenic view on the way and back. Our rooms came with free breakfast with no extra charge for a delicious fresh cooked English breakfast as well as a continental buffet with hot drinks and deserts. The hotel also has a restaurant up and running throughout the day. The staff recieving us on the night of our arrival was a very friendly and kind gentleman who was friendly with our dog and even went out of his way to give him a treat. The massive parking lot in the back made all the difference as well as access through the back for your pet during closing hours of the hotel. I was very pleased with my stay and would definitely revisit in the future.

The room was missing a hair dryer which made my partner disapprove.

Lovely big bedroom and bathroom. We had a nice dinner at the hotel. The breakfast was lovely. It was also a bonus that we could take our dog for a small fee. The garden at the back of the hotel is very relaxing, we were lucky as the weather was amazing. The staff at this hotel is lovely too. We had a really nice stay. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Nothing. Only suggestion would be to put blackout curtains as it gets light so early in Scotland in the summer months!

The breakfast was amazing, and the beds were SO comfy. Being there felt like visiting family for the hippo days, as the service was exceptionally friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming. We liked to bar and pool table as well when we didn’t want to go out into the city, which was a very short drive away. The Inn is located in a quiet area and we had no issues with loud noises. My husband and I have traveled a LOT, and this is by far our best experience with accommodations.
